Late 1950’s and Early 1960’s and that nice polished Nashville sound. But it’s hard to imagine Waylon in that way, with slick back hair and a nice suit.
Great to see these 60's opry shows, we didn't see any of these over here in UK . I takes time and effort to digitise them to upload, I'm sure we all appreciate it. Do you have any shows from 65, 66 with Red Sovine ( Giddy up Go) , Willis Brothers ( Back up and Push, and Gonna buy Me a Juke Box ) Pee Wee king (When the Lights Go Dim Downtown) Johnny Bond (Ten little bottles) , Glenn Barber( Stronger than Dirt) , Adrian Roland (Exactly like him) , Jimmy Skinner ( This old Road) ? These songs come from two LPs I have on Starday of the 39th and 40th anniversary celebrations of the Grand Ole Opry 1965 and 1966. I love the fantastic Pedal steel guitar licks from Pete Drake on these two albums I always wondered if they were ever televised ?
Skeeter Davis and Boudleaux Bryant wrote the lyrics which Skeeter sang in her 1960 recording and in this '67 clip. Conway Twitty wrote his own lyrics for his 1972 version.
My left ear enjoyed this.
