Simple Early 1920's Updo

  • Due to the humidity messing with my curls, I decided to do a relaxed updo, inspired by styles from the early 1920s. This is the kind of style that works well with a pile of messy curls. You can certainly be more careful than I was and make a more "styled" do, if you prefer. A more structured look can be achieved if you are careful to twist the two sections in the same direction, then twist them together in the opposite direction (this adds definition to the twist). I just randomly twisted mine to get loops of hair going whichever way they pleased, as I prefer more relaxed styles during the summer months!

That front curl haha! I loved the tip about arranging the front first, I shall have to try that. It's a very cute hair style.

I thought the same thing! It makes so much sense in retrospect, but its never occurred to me to fully pin the front first. Brilliant

Lovely.Dont know how I got here but I'm here. You are talking to someone who once worked at Pickfair, so I am an older chap.Utterly fascinating to see in the purest sense a delightfully and natural feminine girl. Viva la difference, and Viva la deferance. Thank you dear girl.

Thanks for the tips, looking to style my natural wavy hair into a 1920s style. Can't wait to try on my wash day

This is beautiful! I love it! I'll have to try this sometime.
Also, a moment of silence for all those curls that turned out wonky due to the heat. I know so many of mine have come out in funky shapes this summer lol

Such a great and helpful tip to first arrange and pin the hairs around the ears. Thank you! :)

Some nice Bonaz-style haircomb would go well with this hairstyle too I guess.

Looks great but definitely but if this is the simple version I'd be afraid to see the complicated one lol !

Haha, it's not that complicated! It's basically just curl the hair, twist the hair, and stick some pins in it.
