I love this! My Dad was born of German immigrants in Sargeant County, south east, North Dakota. During the Depression, despite a Master's from U.N.D. he couldn't get a job in engineering, and took a surveying job with the State. He later moved to Pennsylvania and got an engineering job and a wife. He drove us to North Dakota one summer. We couldn't believe how flat and how hot it was. (And yes, we've seen old blizzard pictures too from Forman, N.D) But he showed us an aerial picture of the State Capitol when he worked there. I believe he said his office was on the 19th floor. So on the picture, there is no town anywhere around the capitol, nor were there any trees.... anywhere! A tall building in the middle of the prairie. The little town has grown and there are trees.
I've visited Bismarck three times and have always enjoyed the stay. A good, clean city through and through!
