Turn up the volume for the glorious twin turbo song of Detroit Diesel!
After a busy week of maintenance we launch Tolly 61 Hull 28 and unleash the glorious Detroit 8V92TAs to find if the new 'Speed Bottom' makes a difference- It sure does! I'm convinced these are the healthiest 92s around as they so effortlessly hurl this 85000 LBS yacht through the water. Must be making over rated output. Success! And Captain Ross seemed to enjoy himself as a bonus.

Very impressive. 23kts+ at 1,900? I did not know you could get that kind of performance and efficiency out of the "61". Those Detroit's have to be some of the best engines ever made. Forty, fifty years old and they are still churning it out.

I miss the sounds of the detroits , we had the 6V53T on our tolly 44 Jollytime , she was sold last year and now is in ladysmith .. Miss her..

the 653 is a great match for the 40-44 Tolly. Surprisingly robust for the power density too...

We saw 25-26 knots at 2350 while the Detroit Diesel guys were setting the engines up. That is the last time she ever went that fast!
