職人の心意気此処に在りって感じですね。
誰にも見られない処に銘を残すのは、100年後か200年後かにこれを修理するとなった時に手を下す後世の職人に恥ずかしくない仕事と思って貰いたい。
その証ってところですかね。

愛しているのが伝わって余計に美しく感じました。こういう技術を継承していくことが大切ですね。
どこかの工程で少しでもミスがあったら5年分の乾燥が無駄になると考えると、1つ1つの工程のプレッシャーすごいそう！

昔将棋盤の値段が高すぎて笑っちゃったことあるけど、この動画見て納得も納得。
本当に素晴らしい職人仕事で、シンプルにかっこいい。憧れる。
For those curious, they sell them for around 1,000,000 yen, or $7,340.70 US. Expensive, but as you can see in the video a lot of skilled manual labor goes into these. Add in the fact that the wood is 300-700 years old and you get a once in multiple lifetimes board.

Japan is a special place with special people. Their old world handmade craftsmanship is unparalleled. Everything they build is built to perfection and built to last. When you watch them work they aren't just going through the motions like it's just another job and paycheck. They are working and crafting their art with pride, care, attention to detail, and passion for what they do. It's truly amazing and extremely impressive! I seriously hope to get to visit Japan one day.

I spent a little over 2 years there in the late 70's. Had a great time and would like to go visit again but it's not likely to happen.

昔父が買った将棋盤もさぞ高かった記憶があります。
当時は高過ぎと思いましたが、この素晴らしい動画のお陰でそれ以上の価値があることがわかりました。
足の付け根に名入れがあるなんて絶対に分からなかったし、将棋盤1つにこれでもかという程の手間や職人技が施されていることを知ることができ感動しました。
４月から小学１年生になる娘が将棋に興味を持つようになったのも何かの縁かも。
押し入れの奥にあるはずのあの時の将棋盤を探してみます。

ましてや木の加工ともなれば経年変化を計算に入れた職人の仕事は不可欠です。
江戸指物の職人の仕事は機械では到底真似できないものです。

あの黒い線と点はこんな風に引いていたのか。想像以上に手間暇かけて丁寧に作っている。素晴らしい。
数十年前、祖父宅の立派な将棋盤で将棋をした記憶があります。こんな風に時間、技術を重ねて作られているのを初めて知り、感動感謝しています。今後も日本の技術のつまった将棋盤が造られる事を、応援してます。貴重な動画ありがとうございました。

I love Japanese craftsmanship so much because there's a reason for everything, and it's all steeped in tradition. There's a story behind every hand made object.
And that story has piano background music.

I really like how each one has different dimensions, some are taller, some are a bit wider or thinner. Each one feels unique and gives it character. Expert craftsmen displaying their brilliance.
Shogi boards range in thickness from approximately 3.3cm (1 sun) to approximately 24cm (8 sun). The size of the board is constant. Height 1 shaku 2 sun (approximately 36.4 cm), width 1 shaku 1 sun (33.3 cm)
Very satisfying to watch these master craftsmen creating something beautifull. I love japanese crafts,every step is so deliberate.

I've known for years the Japanese magnificent obsession with attention to detail, the various steps in the manufacture of these Go boards is no exception. The many steps in making the feet, a part of the board not really seen in the use of the board, just shows how much craftsmanship and care goes into making these works of art!

昔は何年か将棋をテレビで観戦していたが（羽生世代全盛期）、将棋は駒も所作もゲーム性も何から何まで美しい。
たかだかテーブルゲームの種類1つにここまで伝統文化が詰め込まれているのは惚れ惚れする。
美味い酒のつまみになると思い見ていたら、一口も飲まずに最後まで見とれてしまいました。

This has inspired me for my Jiu Jitsu training which is in an hour. Watching these masters has taught me something. The principles of mastery is universal in all art forms.

There are a wide variety of products, from simple items that anyone can buy to high-end items like those shown in this video.

also his chain is way too loose, it should not be dangling off the rail so deep you can see the driving teeth.

一つの物を作るのに、何十何百と工程があったり、作り手が何人もいて一つの作品を作り上げたり、木とかだと乾かしたりするのだけでも数年以上かけるのに、更にその先の工程でも数年かけて作業する、こういうのが結構あるから、これこそが日本の技術だと思う。
別の動画で既に見たけど、将棋盤のマス目を刀を使うなんて凄い衝撃的だったけど、日本の技術を神々しいものだとも思えた

Love the channel grate vids. I done joinery and carpentry and wish I had the talent that these craftspeople had. Even discarding a piece if it not exact copy is itself a true mark of respect to the product in the end.

One has to admire the Japanese love for precision, quality and art in all of its forms. Even in mundane items they are able to imbue therein artistic forms for art sake. I respect them for their approach to life and, of course, I love them for it.

Care, patience, attention to every single detail and work completed by hand, using skills developed by consummate professionals. This was very relaxing to watch each step of the work and to know that nothing less than perfection was going to be acceptable. The application of the lines was an amazing skill to watch and I now know that I know very little about wood working, even after a lifetime of familiarity with hand tools and wood. A wonderful example of commitment to producing only the very finest work. It was a really great video presentation. Thank you!
