Gonna be honest, I saw San Pedro, Ca. I had to watch this because that's where I was born 52 yrs ago tomorrow at Fort McArthur. The signs turned out awesome.
Its nice to see a traditional craft being applied so effectively . These were skills largely transmitted through apprenticeships, whilst working on a young persons basic art 🎨 training or aptitude. In GB we have two additional traditional associated art forms Pub signs and canal narrow boat art forms that date back to the industrial revolution. Pub signs of course go back a lot further 😂🧙🏻♂️🇬🇧😉 Hold on to your wind vane ...they are expensive and valued items for Open sea crossings as they can steer a more organic course than energy sapping auto pilots and wear prone in rough seas. It you are convinced you dont want to re instate it then you will find a market for it...though they are very diverse in form and fuction.
I love a good pub sign! Especially in GB. The boat didn't come with a wind vane, I just inherited a bracket that was once used to help support one. I have no idea what brand or model, so if I got one for myself in the future, it's unlikely I would have used the pipe anyway.
Hi wow what an impressive signwriter. I think that yellow tinge is a lot better. It goes with the age of the boat. Anyway keep up the good work and always enjoy the videos from Australia the Thunder down under
