On the subject of composting toilets: We've heard really good things about them, but for our boat's current usage (day sailing and weekending with friends / guest), we thought a simple electric toilet was the best ft for us. We aren't ruling them out in the future, but not ready for that commitment yet.

What a project! What a sense of relief when there are no “drippy drips” 😂

Thanks for the detail provided in your video, as a brand new boat owner with no understanding of Jasco electric toilets this has been GOLD in helping me. Appreciate it :) Happy sailing.

The boat gods if not the plumbing gods were giving you a break this time 😉
As said small jubilee worm drive clips can both strip and crush pipe and fittings. So .. caution.
A piece of kitchen paper makes a excellent quick tell for drips under any joints.

Yeah, I'll check all these connection points periodically with paper towel and try to stay on top of it.

Hi guys, I always used to turn off all my seacocks when I’m not on the yacht/boat it’s just good exercise. I’ve seen many boats it sunk because I seacock has been left open and a hose. It’s old and frail and down yacht/boat goes.

To many issues with those on a boat, pipe size, calcium, blockages, etc. Composting toilet is heaps better, no hoses, tanks, etc.

Yep, I've heard this said many times. I wouldn't be surprised if we shifted that direction once are able to spend a lot more time on the water, making longer passages etc.

      @@OffshoreEsprit Already spent & installed.
Plumbing isn't as bad longer passages, liveaboard, system is being used/cycled daily, vs sitting unused for a week+. Different environment vs land based.
Perhaps a timed auto cycle a few times per day, trigger the pumps, flush pipes, s-bends, etc.
Personally, weekender or liveaboard your boat size, nice diy timber box with proper toilet seat hiding that bucket with rubbish bag, pipe vent to draw odours outside, sawdust to put over, absorb any business. Bin it with other rubbish. Can't get much simpler.
Any "friends" who turn their nose up at that, will prob think the same about your little sailboat vs the 50 foot trawlers around you, are they worth inviting out.

Hi, those hose clamp are not very good. Need to go to a marine store and buy proper ones they are for radiators on cars not for boats you’ll find they will let go at any time
