I watched James Reeves on TFBTV talking about the cheap build quality and finish of the Max-9. It rattled quite noticeably when he shook his loaner which was brand new. The low price point made me think it was too good to be true. Ruger is known for making good quality but not exactly cheap guns. I'll skip the Max-9 for now. For the price, I'd probably get a Taurus 856 instead, even if it means adding the .38 Special cartridge on top of my 9mm Luger stock.
You're right. I just pulled mine out and tested it for rattling. It does rattle. Seems like low slide tolerances. I may have seen Reeves' video a few months ago. Overall I like that gun, and for the price it's a win. I have an 856. It's "OK". I'd take the Max-9 over that. If you don't mind spending extra, get the Ruger LCR in .327 Federal Magnum. Exactly ruger makes a better pistol for the money and your first mistake was buying it in California! I have one I bought mine with a ruger ReadyDot already on it it's also a pro series and it does fire with the magazine your California pistol might not but they fire without the magazine in it even says it on the pistol so
"First mistake..." yeah, ok. I work at a gun store. It was just added to the CA roster 4-5 months ago, and, for your information, you can't buy a handgun in another state per federal law. Go ahead. Try it. If it's not on the roster here in CA we can't get it unless it's a private party transfer, or an inter-familial gift. Ruger sells the extra slide for $120 without the ReadyDot, or $170 with. Please spare everyone your "first mistake" nonsense. If you bothered to read the title of the video it's very clearly about the CA version.
The P365 has a better trigger until replacing the Max-9 trigger with a trigger from Galloway precision. Then the Max-9 becomes stellar. Buy the Max-9 ;)
@@rickcole2301 What's a mineral difference? The CA model is significantly different. It has a magazine disconnect, as well as a loaded chamber indicator in place of the optic cutout. The gun was redesigned for CA obviously.
@@LogosMediaII Doesn't matter. Stop using those reloads and get some factory ammo. The tolerances on SIGs are a lot tighter than some other pistols and if those cartridge lengths are not up to factory standards then they won't work properly in some tighter fitting guns. That is a bad recoil spring. Sometimes the chamber flag indicators are left in too long inside the box before being purchased. The trigger play however is pretty sketch. Id take down the gun completely including trigger. And then resassemble again.

The sec-9 is a hammer fired / max-9 striker fired gun totally different
I had no problems for my maybe 300 rounds through my new one. I could recreate the trigger lockup if I tried but never had the issue come up naturally
So Ruger has a slide reset for CA!😂
Ruger has the best customer service bar none.
Sling shot that slide my brother don’t be scared.
No one's scared of sling shotting slide. It's called resetting the trigger and observing odd behavior of the firearms.
@@LogosMediaII if you pull it back far enough and let it go it would go into battery.
@@AAA22323 You clearly missed the point of my statement.
The P365 has a better trigger until replacing the Max-9 trigger with a trigger from Galloway precision. Then the Max-9 becomes stellar. Buy the Max-9 ;)
Also it’s been said
Ruger. is the very best
3 pierces of fine grade steel.
What store in CA???
They only had 1 and I wouldn't recommend. Try Turner's or Ammo Bros.
Bought mine with a ready dot for 325$
Not in CA you wouldn't.
Are you afraid that what happened to Matthew North is going to happen to you? Is that why you bought a gun, Jan?
How's growing your gunt going diabeetus Mc coma?
It's the muslims room right jan?
Amazing stupidity. Don't debunk facts, just name call and ridicule. The actions of every stupid person in history.
@@LogosMediaII how'd your relationship with whitney go? Outshined you as a shill didn't she?
I have ran over 100 rounds through mine with zero problems so far😅
As discussed in the video, we ran 250 rounds without malfunction. The issues are trigger and reset related.
@@LogosMediaII yes trigger is a little sketchy
Yet another disappointed and surprised P-365 fanboy! 😂😂
Haven't been here in a while, you do firearm reviews now, ok, cool. I guess.
Send it back .
Plan on it.
I got a real good idea. Why don't you get a hold of Ruger and talk to him? I have one and I haven't had any of that trouble
You got one of the first CA editions? OR a DIFFERENT model from a DIFFERENT state? I was simply reporting the OUT OF BOX issues. RELAX.
@@LogosMediaII different state. There's mineral difference between the two
@@rickcole2301 What's a mineral difference? The CA model is significantly different. It has a magazine disconnect, as well as a loaded chamber indicator in place of the optic cutout. The gun was redesigned for CA obviously.
An apex trigger fixes that problem
will it work on the CA model?
Wow...
Stop using those reloads. Get some factory ammo.
They literally gave ZERO issues in the Ruger. Two failures to lock back in the Sig.
@@LogosMediaII Doesn't matter. Stop using those reloads and get some factory ammo. The tolerances on SIGs are a lot tighter than some other pistols and if those cartridge lengths are not up to factory standards then they won't work properly in some tighter fitting guns. I only trust my own reloads that I have loaded to factory specs and tested to run in all my guns, not anybody else's reloads.
@@rbm6184 LOL. Thanks for looking out man. What would the world do without you? I was clear in the video that the Ruger ran fine, and I was clear in the video that I shot 200 rounds a couple weeks earlier through the Sig without issue. These were large production reloads left over from covid days. Get off your high horse.
What cracks me up is you couldn't even focus on the issues presented in the video... with the RUGER. It wasn't about the Sig. It was just a comparison in how the two shoot. In passing I mentioned that the Sig failed to lock back twice. Got you all butt hurt. LOL It's even in the TITLE of the video: "Is the Ruger a quality gun? Issues and Range Review."
🤣
@@LogosMediaII Not on any "high" horse. But its clear the reloads had deviation in their lengths and affected the performance of the SIG.
Wait till he gets it to the range mine runs clip after clip every time
This video includes a 200 round range review.
You have a defective product/ mine 3000k rounds/ no such issue.
Ruger=expensive Taurus.
What's with California and the lame rules crap..
That is a bad recoil spring. Sometimes the chamber flag indicators are left in too long inside the box before being purchased. The trigger play however is pretty sketch. Id take down the gun completely including trigger. And then resassemble again.
This gun was just added to the CA roster 2 months ago, and has only been available for purchase in CA for a couple months. There's no time for the recoil spring to go bad. Furthermore, there were ZERO range issues.
@@LogosMediaII i had the same thing happen to my smith and wesson. Send it back to them its under warranty they fix it for free quickly. Ruger has great support they pay for shipping and everything.
I don't have the trigger issue with mine unless I try to make it lock up.
I actually have this trigger issue with my Shield Plus.😐
