Like you say, it's only really hot 3 months out of the year. But even during those 3 months it's nice in the mornings and up until about 1pm or 2pm. Stay inside during the hot times! I even do yard work during the hot days we're having now. Last week it was 103 degrees and the sun was past my neighbors house to the west at 7pm. It was very comfortable. I used to live in the Midwest and it's cold for 5 months out of the year, day and night, not to mention the wind. I'll take the heat any day.
Currently 26 and lived in Phoenix almost my whole life, really wanted to become a homeowner here but $400k for a nice house in a nice area ain’t worth it.
One of the main draw of Arizona and the Phoenix area was the affordable prices. Nowadays that’s not the case anymore so I don’t think that we’ll be seeing the massive migration that we’ve been seeing for the past decade or so. There are far better places to live around the country for the same price. Because of climate change, the temperature is only going to keep increasing. Sooner than later the elderly are going to start moving out and you’ll see less snow birds retiring down here. Couple all of this with the looming water restrictions, less and less businesses will be moving here which means they less people will be coming in for those jobs.
I was looking in Scottsdale but for those prices I decided to buy a house in San Diego. Cost of living is now comparable and half of AZ comes to CA in the summer anyway so its not like i wont see friends and family anyway.
