George I,m 77 years old & been a gear head, racer, auto machinist. As a teen i worked at a
Gas station changing oil, tire, tune ups ect. You taught me something I did not know about
The ring facing down opposite the the hole in the rim. Who ever said you could not teach a
old fart new trick. Thank you my friend. ole Jimmy

You should mention that this task is difficult with a 2 ply tire and almost impossible with a good 4 ply.

Great video. Being a city slicker...an old city slicker, I have come to respect country folk. I remember seeing a news story probably 40 years ago about a farmer who, at that time, had come closest to making a perpetual motion machine. Did he attend MIT? Stanford? Hell, he never finished high school, because he had to work the farm. So, you guys speak, I listen. Thanks for a wonderful, down home video and I hope your friends listen to you, I know I will. I wish I had bought one of these 30 years ago. Thanks George!!

Sure made it look a lot easier than some of the other videos on here. Never paid any attention to the stripes on inner tubes. Always just looked at the angle of the stem.

Good advice about the tube. I have put them in wrong and held them with pliers to air it up and when you let go of the stem it pulled it inside the tire!. Have to wait until the next flat to fix it...

Also I just thought of this,,,, I don't use soapy water and I'm not going to buy tire lube, but instead I use P B blaster, it's great lube and works very nicely on every tire I've taken off or installed and a quick wipe with a paper towel 😊😊

I think the biggest problem I see people having is...... It's Not secured down to something Solid, #2 they don't have the red nut retainer tightened down enough, #3 there not using enough or slippery enough lube, I use liquid wrench lube, I've done Dozens of tires in the last yr from tiny 4" to 24"at tires new and older then me, the only other tool I've ever used very seldom was a pair of vise grips clamped onto the lip of the rim on smaller tire to stop the bead from running around the rim, My opinion is,,,, if your having problems it's one of the above mentioned item's, I love mine and everyone I know including a 78 yr old man Loves it, Good luck everyone

While mounting in the vise is handy, I would caution everyone against it. Not all tires come off/on as easy as the one depicted.
That steel bar will do some real damage if it slips and hits you in the face.
A better option is to buy a 2x2" square bar, 25"+ long and slip it into a receiver hitch. Then mount the red bottom holder to the bar, I welded mine but there are several ways to bolt it on also. My pickup is higher than most but the bar height will never be higher than my waist. Caution still must be used but much easier and safer to work with down there than at face height.

I'm on my daughter's internet. I don't know why my name doesn't show up instead of hers. Any, lubing the tires with tubes is ok. Without the tubes, I kept breaking the bead because the lube doesn't dry out. So if it's just the tire with no tube. You may want to use soapy water because the water will dry out and help the bead from breaking should you put side pressure on the tire. Good video.

Hello, what ever works for you is the way you should do it, In my case I removed a tire this morning in the shop that was 28 degrees, there was no soapy water this morning so a quick spray of lube and the tire was off, wire brushed the rim and remounted the tire at 7am, home at 5:30 still had 25lbs and good to go, I'm wondering if your tires are fully inflated,

From a personal standpoint, I thought the tool sucked. It was too wobbly when you mount it and the long mounting screw would bend when using the bead breaker. Got the 4-inch tire off easy enough, but putting a new tire on? Forget it! Using soapy water, I got the first bead on, but the top bead proved to be too much. Followed all the directions from this video and others who have done a product review on this tire changer. Trying to hold the tire to keep it from turning with my stomach while trying to push down on the tire with one hand AND turn the tool with the other hand was impossible. The tool bar wanted to keep jumping up enough to come off the rim! How frustrating! After about 45 minutes of trying to mount the new tire, I was so mad I could have thrown the tool bar across the room!
You made it look easy enough (though, your tire is bigger, so maybe that made it easier).
Maybe if the tire changer was sturdier it would work easier.
As for me, I am boxing this thing back up after accomplishing only a tire removal, along with a lot of cussing and aggravation. This thing will go on eBay and I will be off to the local tire shop to have them mount the tire. I'd rather pay the $15 or $20 than deal with anger and time wasted.
It was listed on eBay today (8/19/19). Have it listed for $48.50 w/ free shipping.

Sorry to hear about your experience, I've mounted and dismounted probably 2 dozen + tires since I made that video a year ago and even a few 4" like the ones on front of my Exmark walk behind, I don't mount my unit using the bench mount bracket, mine is mounted securely in my 6" vise on my Very heavy duty bench, also I've never have had issues with the rod bending, instead of soapy water which I said I don't keep in my shop usally, I use spray lube such as liquid wrench or a favorite Pb blaster, as I said in that video I wished I had one of these 20 years ago when I was running a successful lawncare business, but I'm glad I've got one now, and you are right the smaller tires are harder to do, Good luck to you

Well, I finally got it to work. Though, not by using any method that i have yet seen in any of the videos that I have watched that detailed this tool and the various procedures.
Instead of using that tool bar to go around the tire bead, I used tire bar to hold the tire in place and used the bead breaker bar attachment to go around the tire bead once I got it started; this worked.
I sort of got the idea from the video link below. However, he didn't do it the exact same way that I did, but he got me on the right track I suppose.
Maybe I will hang on to this thing after all.

GOOGLE VALVE the correct way of saying a valve stem. I've always thought that an automotive valve stem is a Schrader valve (after the company that invented and patented this type of valve). Since I've never heard of a google valve, I Googled the term, and found several entries for a goggle valve (which isn't for pnuematic tires). Not saying you're wrong, just wondering how you learned this term.
