His principles were very good, even if the AI was absolute trash tier. It was like a 800 elo player lol. But considering how quickly and naturally the moves came still, I really wanna know what his actual rating is. No way of telling from that game, but at least 1400 I’d say.
I’d give so much for him to play a match with me.

As someone who loves shogi, go and riichi mahjong, this game has been such a treat for me. There really are no good ways to play those in multiplayer without having to deal with wonky webpages (or in mahjongs case, dealing with tenhou and its user interface.) or playing against computer in Yakuza games. :D
an important note, is that Go isn't one of the included games, and that's actually Gomoku.
Part of me really wants to see them play mahjong on the NLSS and have no idea what they're doing
This would be pogs for a nlss I always wanted to see you guys just do an array of simple board games for a nlss segment but i imagine that would be a cluster of a headache to do in something like table top sim.
I agree, and Tabletop doesn't have the right physics for everything like billiards and bowling lol
I remember seeing this game on the eshop and I laughed and laughed at the price. I'm glad you covered this because it delivers a lot more than I expected. Too bad you didn't check out online in the end, but hopefully we'll see it on the NLSS. This subverted my expectations to an incredible degree.

NL actually has his chess basics on lock. I'm impressed.
It's been a long time but legitimately I knew what I was doing in chess when I was younger. I had a 1750 PERF at some point, I think my ELO was around 1500 (in tournament play, not online blitz)

Played the DS version on a 3 hour field trip bus ride, one of the best memories from middle school. Would absolutely love this on the NLSS.

lets gooooo, 42 All Time Classics was one of the absolute best DS games and taught me a lot of games when I was a kid. Hanafuda was definitely my favourite, so much so that I later bought a deck from Japan so I could play it irl. Akayoroshi is a great app for it on Android. For the record the game is actually called Koi Koi; Hanafuda is the name of the deck of cards so idk why its called that but it was that way on DS too. It's especially weird since Nintendo as a company used to sell Hanafuda decks lol
NL destroying the computer at chess while talking non-stop smack is the perfect content I never knew I needed.
The creativity in these minigames is truly remarkable...The baseball board is mildly cute though.

This game could be something we watch you and the crew play all the time and we wouldn't mind it due to its insane variety and stupid clean look and design (overall polish)

We got the 3DS version of this game when my kids were little. The best purchase I ever made for long car trips.

I think what surprised me most about this title, even given the price tag, was the level of polish and charm to the game designs. The toy games, although simple, are adorable and unique. And as NL mentioned several times, "they didn't have to go so hard on the soundtrack"!
The fact that NL knows about Dutch Blitz surprises me so much. I thought us Mennonites only knew about that game.
Seeing a game depict a borderless world that you can travel at will has me feelin a certain way ngl.

NL, a legit concern before you buy this for the crew, I heard this game in true Nintendo fashion has iffy online. Not only laggy play, but a lot of games are limited to 2 players when you would want more, like bowling and stuff.
You only need one purchased copy of the game to play with your friends, they just need to download free supplemental software! It's actually 0 risk to try it out. I really hope to see this pop up in the NLSS provided the online isn't trash
edit: I looked it up and I believe I was mistaken, it's only local free multiplayer unfortunately.

Yooo hanafuda. Being half-Japanese growing up in Hawaii, that was a hella household staple. I've also seen Nintendo-branded hanafuda tiles/cards, so I really shouldn't be surprised.
Not even going to lie, Disney Tsum Tsum Festival has THE BEST curling mini game ever! Legit play that all the time!
The mindgames in local multiplayer toy baseball are just too good.

As an avid board gamer, I’ll pick this up on clearance just so I could learn some worldly games I’ve been interested in, like Shogi, Mahjong, Backgammon, and Go. But if you actually want to play board games with friends, I’d suggest for a real copy of Ticket to Ride, Splendor, or Catan.
Watching NL body the normal difficulty bot in chess was something special.
