    I was diagnosed with Crohn's 15 years ago. After 10 years of a plant-based diet, my last colonoscopy and biopsy showed no signs of Crohn's! No medication, just lots of nutrition. Thank you, Dr Greger!!! ❤

    My blood pressure has been a nightmare for over 30 years. Last year it averaged 200/120 . Thank God I ran into Dr Greger on TH-cam. I’ve followed 70% of his recommendations and my blood pressure is down to 130/80. It’s been stuck there. I haven’t been able to improve it further. I’m going on a 7 weeks vacation in Los Angeles to focus perfectly on a whole food plant based diet. Completely eliminate flour, chicken or alcohol. Every day will be perfect and I’ll move in a single minded direction daily

      Same with my mom. I took her to the hospital about 10 years ago when she was over 210. Found this channel, followed the advice and she's back down to 120.

      If you're eating restaurant food it will be high in sodium. You pretty much need to make your own food from the produce aisle. Recommended max intake of sodium is 1500 mg Minimum 500. And you can use Cronometer to track it

      @@MushookieMan agreed. I have learned that many restaurants, particularly good vegan ones that cook real ingredients, will respect requests to not add additional salt to their dishes. What they can get from a can (esp. tomatoes and sauces) can't be changed, but you can tick down the levels a bit by not adding more.

      Eliminate all saturated fat and salt as much as you can! Ground flax is your friend!

    Very interesting how some people benefit from plant based and how some say it makes things worse. I've been mainly vegetarian for most of my life and for the past 4 years have stopped buying products containing cow's milk, because of cruel intensive farming, so mainly whole foods, no biscuits (not even without butter as seed oils are toxic), cakes etc. My IBS problems have greatly reduced, however I still have a lot of gas so I assume there are still bad bacteria in my gut. I recently watched a great TH-cam video with Dr Berg and Dr Davis on making your own live yogurt using L-Reuteri probiotics, it's cheap, easy and apparently has had amazing effects on most people and I will try it. But everyone is different. I bought a book some years ago called Eat Right for your Blood Type and I try to stick to the foods recommended for my blood type. Thankfully my type is A which is mainly vegetarian as apparently our stomach acid is quite weak and we cannot digest animal protein very well. It makes sense to me and why it's not one size fits all. I have to take folate and B12 supplements and of course Vit D.

    I was diagnosed with UC after several months of following an anti-inflammatory, plant-based diet. Even now, after struggling with this disease for many years (while continuing to eat this way), my symptoms have not improved-not even with the use of immunosuppressants. If anyone can relate, I’d greatly appreciate your advice!

      @@juliafischer2034 I've been able to heal Crohn's with a very specific form of a whole food plant-based diet (including one serving of high Omega-3 fish weekly, critical for optimal microbiome health). There are some foods that are very important to emphasize and others that are very important to avoid to facilitate healing. Be sure to include lots of cooked kale (ideally daily), preferably organic, as it is one of the plants with the highest pesticide residue according to the environmental working group (EWG), walnuts (the only nut associated with colon cancer reduction), organic legumes (especially chickpeas), ground flax seed (use a coffee grinder, not a blender), porridge made from whole organic oat groats or steel-cut, millet porridge, quinoa. Avoid eating processed grains (flour, puffed, etc.) and nut and seed butters. Eat whole, unrefined grains and nuts and seeds in their original intact form. Oat groats feed your gut bugs; oat flour doesn't. Whole nuts feed your gut microbiome; nut butter doesn't. There's so much more to say about diet, supplements, infections, etc. but I've gone on long enough lol

    I don't know why but whenever I eat plants with tons of fiber I fart way bad and my gas is really bad especially with beans

      It takes a while for your Microbiome to change to your new way of eating. Just go slowly and eventually you will have more healthy bacteria in your gut.

    Been vegan for 5 years, started developing ulcerative colitis 3 years ago. Didn't know I had it because the NHS here is corrupt and didn't bother testing to see what it was, went for my colonoscapy in late 2023, and they developed a sample to find out what was wrong. Which is where I learnt it was ulcerative colitis. That said, they gave pretty much no useful advice on how to tackle it. I've been on a medication for over a year now with nothing really changing in bowel habits. Yet despite eating healthier and less processed foods of recent, I still end up on the toilet 3 times every morning, without fail. I've also tried a lot of different diets to mitigate it. Such as whole foods for one month, gluten free for over one month, and even adding fermented foods to see if that would help. In the end nothing even remotely helped, so I give up. It's made worse by my hypersensitivity to foods. I haven't got the time or money to treat this seriously anymore. I had heard that autistic people like me are more likely to get stomach/bowel problems. Doesn't surpise me with how severe my traits have gotten over the years. Not to mention stress.

      It's the plants causing the gut problem. Try eating carnivore and you will find it helps greatly. Speaking from experience.

      I second what the other comment said. Try carnivore, even if you think it's wrong/dumb. See what happens after a month of that. Many people do benefit from it, despite what the papers and articles say. I would be dead without carnivore. I'm not healthy, but I'm alive because of it.

    My Crohns symptoms tend to flare up when I have been eating processed fatty foods. The second I clean it up with fruit vegetables and clean meats. I’m good to go. And of course, high fiber in the form of flaxseed and blueberries.

    the microbiome is just one puzzle piece in finding out what actually causes IBD and evidence for a plant based diet offering remission for a a significant amount of patients is not really there yet. If you have IBD and you cannot heal by relying on diet only, please stay on your meds.

    To be honest, many vegetables give me much greater gas than meat would. Onions, garlic, broccoli, chickpeas, pumpkin, lentils, beans.....

    Confused because the majority of people who have had this disease recommend an unprocessed animal-based diet. Often, they also tried a plant-based diet for a while beforehand…

      Fiber affects my gut pretty intensely, or so I thought. I am up to 50 g fiber a day. The important thing is to cook foods thoroughly and add fiber gradually, only as whole foods, not a supplement.

    Nope. Veganism caused severe long lasting gut problems for me.. I had to eat carnivore for a whole year to heal it.
