My favourite type of scene, Dave! Lovely soft colours in the background. Wonderful impression of a quiet woodland walk. We've ALL had a bit too much Christmas pudding, I'm afraid! :) :)

I need to experiment with using the sides of my brushes. I've noticed that you do that a lot and it's so effective. I'm learning so much!

Thank you Dave for another absorbing and enlightening demonstration. As ever your scenes seem to evolve out of nowhere. Do you ever do a basic plan or have a reference or does it all stem from your imagination? Whatever, you produce something of beauty in its simplicity. Best wishes, Derek.

Jackson's. They're a brilliant company, have an excellent website and deliver by post. They have shops in London and Gloucester (UK) and I can thoroughly recommend them.

I started to paint 30 odd years ago after buying a Ron Ranson book. I did the usual, Hake Butchers Tray etc. Unfortunately by using the same materials and techniques as Ron Ranson all my paintings started to look like his. Its the same in this painting too. Its impossible t get away from this if you use the Hake in this way.
