  • Located in the center of downtown Chongqing, Jiefangbei CBD, also known as Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street or Jiefangbei Square, is the busiest and most prosperous business district in West China.
The whole pedestrian street, taking an area of 36,000m2 (approximately 43,055 sq yd), centers on the People's Liberation Monument, or Jiefangbei in Chinese and includes Minquan Road, Minzu Road and Zourong Road. It's now a must-go destination for tourists to Chongqing, where one can enjoy shopping and various delicious foods.
In 1997, Chongqing government built the first business pedestrian of West China, Jiefangbei Central Shopping Square, in the 24,000m2 (about 28,700 sq yd) area around People's Liberation Monument. Then in 2000 and 2001, the pedestrian street was further expanded to Bayi Road and Minzu Road.
Today this CBD is the hard core of Chongqing economy. It has accomplished social consumption retail amount of 41.4 billion Yuan, thus is known as CBD with the best investment value in China. 47 of the Fortune 500 companies set up branches here.
    Shopping in Jiefangbei CBD
This CBD is the shopping paradise in Chongqing, because lots of shopping centers, exclusive stores and department stores gather here. You may find international luxury brands like LV, Prada and Rolex in Mansion Mode Department Store, Chongqing Time Square or Metropolitan Plaza.
You can also find some inexpensive brands or bargains in New Century Department Sore and Chongqing Department Store with huge discounts.
    Eating in Jiefangbei CBD
Bayilu Road Food Street is the most famous food street in this area. You can taste all kinds of Chongqing snacks here including Shancheng Tangyuan, hot and sour rice noodles, Dan Dan Noodles, rabbit heads, iced powder and so on at a very cheap price.
Most of the shops are open air and you may have to queue to buy them. You will not be dissatisfied if you are a fan of Chongqing flavor.
    Staying in Jiefangbei CBD
Being the most prosperous business district and the transportation center in Chongqing, this pedestrian street has all kinds of hotels from 5-star grand hotels to youth hostels to meet your needs.
Jiefangbei CBD is the most prominent and vibrant business circle in West China, and modern landmark of Chongqing. Come here and feel this lively city and beautiful night views with colorful neon flashing everywhere.
Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street is the cradle and core of 3,000-year-old Chongqing. After reconstruction in 1997, it became the city’s first commercial pedestrian street.
With the help of the opportunity brought by the Ministry of Commerce, which approved transformation and upgrading trial of 11 pedestrian streets, Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street reflects the international, modern and high-end development of Chongqing. Therefore, it successfully weaves the past and the present together. During the Spring Festival of 2019, Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street welcomed 0.55 million tourists per day on average, with the highest number topping 0.6 million, making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in China.
Jiefangbei CBD is the vibrant business district of Chongqing, which is growing nestled into the heights between the Jialing and Yangtze Rivers. In the heart of this fast-developing commercial center, with many shops, offices, hotels and restaurants, is a pedestrian zone that opened in 1997 around the People's Liberation Monument. The monument, which was built in 1945 and was originally intended to commemorate victory over the Japanese.
When Chongqing locals refer about commercial center, Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street will be their fist place for shopping. It is a fashionable district that tells you what the trend in Chongqing is.
Liberation Stele is located in the road interchange of Minquan Road, Minzu Road and Zourong Road, Yuzhong district. The full name of Liberation Stele is “People Liberation Stele”, it represents the peace and liberation. Commerce center of Yuzhong district is here, around 300 meters of Liberation Stele has the city's biggest snack street. Jiangbei Pedestrian Street is one of the largest pedestrian street in western China, therefore is called "western China First Street".

Just one word: Incredible. Thanks for uploading and showing people unfiltered what cities in China are like. Hard to fathom that in the 1980's 90% of China's population was impoverished. It's unbelievable what China has accomplished. My deepest respect to the people of China and for having such a competent government.

What a kaleidoscope of a cityscape! Crowds everywhere, but no matter: the ambient noise and chatter are mesmerizing, young faces at ease and sanguine. I like the unmistakable youthfulness of this old city, even as I envy the upcoming generation in China. Hopefully I will be able to revisit before I get too old.

Like the dude at LaowaiMe channel said, "It's possibly one of the biggest cities in the world. It's the size of Austria, so like one European country and 31 millions people living here and it's still growing!". I just love how in Chongqing, instead of villages upon villages and towns upon towns, it's like cities after cities within a sizable mountainous rural area. And it's interesting to learn the idea behind the designation of the Chongqing municipality, which I think did result with a unique synthesis of both rural and urban tradition and culture. Such idea is somewhat imaginary to think about here in my country but it's totally conceivable in China and it was a huge success!

Simply amazing... China doesn't have to contend with a two party government system to basically get stuff done for it's citizens. In America nowadays, if you want to build a road, shopping center, etc. it will usually take a decade ( 10 years ) for a miraculous consensus. ( Both Democrats and Republicans in agreement ) Shamefully so, American infrastructure is crumbling. As opposed to China, where it's infrastructure is quite astounding.

Your video is great! 👍👍👍Half city, mountain and half city, hometown Chongqing! The hot land of my hometown is the place where I put my soul, the homesickness that I worry about! the taste of happiness! ! ! When I was young, I always disliked the old and shabby hometown, but my hometown never disliked my young and ignorant. When I grew up, I always complained that my hometown was too far away, but my hometown never complained that I was too late! I left my arrogance and unreasonableness to my hometown, and gave me humility and courtesy to a distant place, but the distant place did not treat me tenderly, and my hometown has never left me! In fact, if there is love in our hearts, there will be no other country. We live in the same home! Wellington.

Dressed simple and youthful but sophisticated at their rights. Simplicity is beauty! Such figures are Perfect for modeling. Btw, they are not many short and rounded bulky like those in Shanghai, who over dressed to make up their lack of sophistications.

    Damn...
China is really crazy :O. Crazy life in crazy place :O.
I want to say there is soo many things todo during days and nights, but then i just remember that this single city have half the population of my entire country XD This is ridiculous hahaha XD.
oh god, i dont want to imagine a black friday or something similar in such city, that must be a real war zone XD
As this city is the biggest, i think it just a matter of small time until the tallest building rise up :O
Sooo many mountain and sea of people (lol i love this expression XD) and yet the sky is pretty clean. i know lots of cities that aren't as close to have such many people and yet are very polluted and sky is soo dark grey :/
OH! is the childrens still "salute" the cars when they stop? i saw a video recently that showed some small children who salute the cars who stop to let them cross the path. It's very cute :D
41:18 LOL this look like a giant scalpel weapon robots.. XD i wouldn't stay near it hahaha
I wish one day i could move to another city. My city is small and all, but it's calm, but for me the problem is that once it's 8PM everything is closed, so you can't go outside, getting fresh air and enjoying a nice meal or something :/ it's a bit sad.
Sorry for not being here alots theses times, it's a big mess here with the new lil' nephew born recently, lots of time with family and all, but it's happiness and important :D.
Thank you for all the videos :O China is really a crazy country, everytime i see new things even in cities you already visited before, everythiong change everytime, crazy China XD
Wish you a nice week :D

Frank, Frank, dear Frank! Finally I know that everything goes well of you! So glad to know you have a great time with your new born nephew and famliy!
Chongqing has 32M people and it's a big population. Everything of this city is very special to me too.
41:18 LOL this look like a giant scalpel weapon robots.. XD i wouldn't stay near it hahaha
That's a selling store hosted by the robot and very popular in Chongqing.
Actually I love small cities like your city more. I hope I can visit the beautiful cities of Europe someday.
I will keep sharing this kind of videos because I love to sharing those things to friends.
I hope everything of you keep going well in the future, Frank!

Chongqing is so busy and vibrant at night. I love this city so much with the tall buildings and wide streets and walkways lined by trees, shrubs and flowers. Absolutely the most geographically interesting of all the major cities in China. Only Hong Kong's natural beauty can match Chongqing, but Hong Kong looks like a dump compared to this amazing city.
