Taking taurine for several years before the latest study findings.. My workouts are enhanced with both capacity and intensity. I add L-Citrulline; a great pre-workout combo. I'm 72!
I've been using it for several years now. It was the 'One' ingredient in an energy drink that I noticed actually gave me more mental clarity & focus. I use about 3 grams in my own pre-workout recipe.
The amount of taurine in meat can vary based on several factors including the type of meat, its preparation, and its cut. Generally, beef contains approximately 40-50 mg of taurine per 100 grams (about 3.5 ounces). Given this, we can estimate the taurine content in a 10-ounce steak. First, convert ounces to grams: 10
ounces × 28.35
grams/ounce = 283.5
grams 10ounces×28.35grams/ounce=283.5grams Next, use the average taurine content in beef to estimate the amount in the steak: 283.5
grams × 45
mg/100 grams = 127.575
mg 283.5grams×45mg/100 grams=127.575mg So, a 10-ounce steak typically contains approximately 128 mg of taurine. There are 1,000 milligrams (mg) in a gram (g).
Taurine is commonly given to autistic kids as well. But you have to be careful with your daily dosage and long term because it is tough on the kidneys. My son and I have been taking it for around 9 years. For around 6 years we were using a bulk brand off of Amazon that was more crystal than powder. After around 6 years on that we both started to develop signs of kidney problems. I swapped to another brand that was more like a powder and the kidney issues went away after a couple of weeks. Kidneys don't like crystals (sharp edges)... whether it's sugar or other crystalline powders.
Taurine naturally takes a crystal form. And do you really think it goes to your kidneys like that? Your stomach acid will dissolve it. ALso taurine is protective for tehe kidneys. More likely you had something else or your supplement was contaminated with heavy metals.
Creatine is also a notropic, I take 5g Taurine, 1g NAC, 1g Glycine and 1 gram MSM all in powder form mixed with water and done times a squash/cordial. I'm planning to add Creatine when I can afford it, but for mental alertness and stamina but not for body building so will be 1g or maybe 2g.
