    Good job in weighing your rig. Goid to see you taking the weight seriously as there is alot of vanners who dont care about their weight they have. Keep up the good work. Safe travels

      Thanks heaps! After seeing how close we were in some areas and then over in others, we totally agree with your comment about how many rigs would be over. We only have a 17ft van so would be interested to see the results of similar tow rigs and the bigger vans....we also wanted to ensure we weren't putting any additional pressure on the car 👌

    Move the motor to the front aflame and your right to go always better to have the car weigh more then the van the d max looks like a good option i have a Pajero and outback the van is 2016 at 2475 tbw of 180 kg i will be buying a d max as its solid Centre rear axle .i was also looking my van doors on the cupboards using 1.6mm aluminum sheet powder coating them as van cupboard draws and doors are just made to heavy out of cheap crap.

    It’s my understanding you can get a 10% GVM upgrade with no modifications. Looking at getting my 105 cruiser upgraded which will give me an extra 318 kg. Which is all I’m looking for as that’ll more than cover ball weight. Good to see your being responsible and sorting your weights out, it’s a shame there are people out there that don’t for whatever reason. The consequences are to say the least, expensive. I feel that not to far into the future you’ll be required to have an endorsement on your license to tow a caravan and the fines for being overweight will be exorbitant.

      We would love more info on the 10% GVM upgrade with no mods if you don't mind sending them through? We've seen a lot of comments lately from responsible towing members that they want a towing course implemented as part of licence requirements. We agree, but with different rules in each state and territory it will mostly likely be awhile and be rolled out in each area separately unfortunately....

    Why did you only did a small gvm upgrade?
    Maybe do the bigger gvm upgrade.
    Your children will grow and get heavier.
    Good luck 🤞

      We wanted the full gvm upgrade, but there was a miscommunication and the people who did our suspension 3 years prior didn't tell us until after we paid them do to the gvm upgrade that the suspension we had was retrofit. One day we might re do the suspension and upgrade, but for now we will change other things to make it work 😊

    Before you move the boat motor to the draw bar remember the rough rule of thumb: for every 1kg on your tow ball it is about 1.6kg on your rear axle because of the cantilever effect.
    The reason I point this out is that you can still be underweight on the GVM, GCM and ATM but be overweight on your rear axle.
    Good luck with it all👍

      Hey mate, thanks for the comment! And you're right, we need to watch the rear axle weight so might need to go back to the drawing board with some alternative options. There are so many things to consider but we will get there :)

      @@LostCrewAdventures yeah there is heaps to consider and look out for. We ended up going down the route of building a 6 wheeler so we could eliminate the stress of being on the edge.

    I checked vansafe to find out where they are located, only in Queensland, I tried to find them in SA but Queensland seems to be the only state.

      Sorry to hear they are only Queensland. Hopefully you can find something that is equivalent in SA so you can book in a free check too 🙏

      Hey, we ended up doing a wicked search and there is a program in South Australia called "Think RV Road Safety". It looks like they did a weigh day last year so maybe reach out and see if they have anymore upcoming you can book in at. I'll try post a link for you below 🙂

    So good to hear numbers!! Did they weigh rear axle weight??

    • @LostCrewAdventures
      @LostCrewAdventures  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rear axle was slightly over so we will need to remove/shift somethings around ;)

    Did they do rear axel weights and what was ball weight

    • @LostCrewAdventures
      @LostCrewAdventures  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Apologies we did forget to add the rear axel in the video but it was over by 100k so we will seriously need to rethink the canopy situation. The tow ball weight was 180kg so we will most likely transfer the boat motor to the A frame to get us around 10% ATM weight 👌 we hope that helps!

    unfortunately, your , 'nearly right' , 80kgs on car, and only 100kgs on the rear are ridiculous, your gvm for the car is 3500 kgs, your combination mass is around 5500kgs. at heavy vehicle weigh stations, ive had trucks with 106000 kg GCMs, prime mover with 24000kg GVM ,trailers with 50000kg gvm, come over the weigh bridge 3000kg under legal gross of 65000 as Bdoubles, but get 7-800 dollar fines for being 300kgs over on an axle group. absolutely true. you dont have to be einstein,to work out,80kg over on 3500,against 300kg over on 50000, is a substantial breach, and safety issue, the sooner carravanners are subject to the same towing rules as truckies,the better.

    clearly overweight and far too small a tow vehicle-- just dangerous

    • @LostCrewAdventures
      @LostCrewAdventures  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Did you just look at the photo or did you watch the video? If you watched, can you elaborate on your comment. If we move the boat motor from the car to the caravan, and switch the agm battery in the back of the canopy to a lithium, we would be fine 🤷
