This is what Tesla needs, a real 3 row, based on the Cybertruck. For now everyone will be getting the R1S for a great electric 3 row. Imo I believe a great 3 is not just a 3rd row for small kids but one for anyone, so a large 3 row is why so many people get Traverse, Expedition, Tahoe, Suburban, Explorer, Palisade, Telluride, Range Rover, Escalade, etc. it’s too bad right now that you have to choose between Rivian’s great features and storage and the like, or Teslas great software, efficiency and great simplistic charging infrastructure. You should be able to get all if that in both without sacrificing. Tesla would do well to stop sacrificing features (like a power frunk) to simplify manufacturing. I am impressed with features that you can’t get in a S/X that you can in a Rivian or Lucid.
The great thing about Rivian products is that Tesla has no competing product of that type, shape, and size. That gives Rivian a lot of runway to get up to production speed before they really have to compete with a rival capable of volume production.
R1S for me not really that close. More vehicle for the price and I’ve seen many Teslas owners who have a Rivian too saying the build quality overall is superior- interior/exterior etc. however to each their own!
I think they're both nice vehicles but I love my Model X. I have been on several road trips since taking delivery in June. I already have over 15,000 miles on it and charging has never been an issue. 😊

Presenting the card to the door panel seems problematic. People may drop the card onto the ground, it may be raining, etc. The card should be presented onto the interior like Tesla.
The ruggedness of the R1S is hands above the Tesla X/Y. As soon as the Tesla supercharger network opens to all EV's, the Rivian R1S is the clear winner.
Its a very nice car but top generic looking for me. Looks like any other suv out there. If you into that sort of thing it's definitely a good option but I still think it has nothing on your model x

Each day sees the disappearance of birds, insects and plants because of unchecked human consumption. At this rate and within our lifetime, we can expect the irreversible collapse of entire eccosystems with rising seas and temperatures. Therefore ask yourself this simple question : Is this the planet you want to pass on to your children ?
Im a model X owner with a R1S on order. I went to the Rivian Hub a few days ago and I can say the R1S is way nicer for less money.
People will fawn over a delivery experience like this. But this kind of service will never, ever last as they grow.

The Rivian is beautifully done and I like the look over an X, but Tesla still has the edge on software, superchargers etc.

I have had a model X for 6 years. R1S is a true SUV. Model X is not.
I have always been a Tesla person. Then along came Rivian.
Love the looks of the R1S but the X has a more functional third row, better storage and a charging network. 😉

Third-party charging that rivian still has to rely on currently sucks so if you are a traveling person, Tesla is still the only way to go.
Most owners will charge at home the majority of time. Third party charging is needed when you travel or if you are unable to charge at home.
