One of my favourite spots in Skyrim is the Rift in general. With all the aspen trees and the perpetual autumn look, the whole area just pops compared to Skyrim's other regions.
Markarth is a close follow-up though. The Dwemer ruins are some of the coolest places, and a bunch of people just up and repurposed one Dwemer city into their own home.
MY favorite spot in Skyrim is the end of a road in the northwest corner of the map. You expect it to connect to the province next door, but it just ends on the cliffside
Would you ever consider a tour of GTA IV? Thats games atmosphere is still unique and intriguing
The Jarl basement is part of a Daedric Prince quest, you get a sword.
Belethor's shop upstairs is part of Thief's Guild side-jobs, you can forge his book-keping.
Olivia's house is part of Dark Brotherhood questline if you complete a side-objective, she does a palm reading for you.
Temple of Kynareth has quest where you escort a priest to a tree.
Precisely. I was about to mention half of these. This video is just revealing he's not done enough side quests.

Bethesda games really are good at tickling that part of your brain, getting you completely invested in the world and thinking about it as if it were a real place.
@@PretzelYT couldn't tell you the exact amount, but easily a couple hundred was spent just on housing in elder scrolls online to confirm your point lol. But truth be told, I don't even regret it. I hardly ever play the game, the combat is just atrocious to me... But for some time immersed in that landscape, it's worth it to me. I'll be giving starfield a lil while tho. The only Bethesda game I played at release, was Skyrim. Precisely for the reason stated in the original comment lol. I'd been dying for it for a decade...
A few years back I decided to once again replay skyrim but I made an interesting decision. No fast travel. And I must WALK everywhere. Unless there's danger or urgency of some kind. I hit caps lock and press c and let my character auto move. All while dealing with other factors such as temperature and hunger through mods. It was immersive. And I found myself wandering to places I had never been in my over what must be 4000 hours in skyrim by now. I know for a fact I have more than 3000 counting ps3 and steam versions. Not everyone is going to have the patience for it of course. You definitely have to go in with a certain roleplay mindset.

Wild that you haven't been in some of these places. Any place that didn't tell me to leave or had enemies, I checked from top to bottom. I love exploring in Skyrim.
I love that there's a balcony at the top of dragonsreach that nobody ever talks about. It feels like a place outside of places.
Ah, you know what? I did walk out there once while scouting spots for the video. I should have talked about that spot!
@@PretzelYT I suppose it'll remain obscure for a bit longer then :). I have enough hours in this game to make up like, a percentage of my life at this point, so there's a ton of little spots like that I enjoy.
Another example is the place at the end of the Azuras Star quest. As far as I'm aware the assets used there aren't used anywhere else in the game and you're forced out of there after you beat the boss, so it's a super underrated place for me.
I’ve always loved the vibe of hot springs in general, and when I discovered the entire region of hot springs I was ecstatic. I love the area, but so much more could have been done with it

I haven't played Skyrim since this video, and I'm kinda getting an itch to come back... Starfield didn't do it for me and I need more Bethesda in my life.
What about exploring the Soul Cairn, the Hidden Valley and more of Solstheim?

Skyrim is such a nice world. First time playing it in VR was absolutely stunning.
Hopefully Oblivion might get a tour or a world tour of Kingdome Come: Deliverance would be awesome. One of my favorite gameworlds.

Oblivion is kind of my blind spot for the Elder Scrolls series. 😅 From what I've seen in screenshots, the world looks beautiful though. I need to give it a proper deep-dive sometime so I can make a video or two on it.

I just want to put in another vote for Oblivion! I don't know how much is nostalgia, but Skyrim was disappointing to me compared to Oblivion. Oblivion was more quirky and colorful, metaphorically and visually, and I was so excited to see what unique location might be hiding in the forested areas. Skyrim's big open spaces don't give me that same feeling. Also each city seemed to have more of a distinct style and character compared to Skyrim's. Skyrim is great, don't get me wrong, I just feel something was also lost.
Youve never visited the temple of Kynareth? You need to do its quest. It leads to a beautiful cave.

It's unfortunate how everyone only has one chance to explore a game for the first time. Once you get familiar with the world, the way you see it shifts. You look at the game world differently on your 1st playthrough vs your 10th. While familiarity comes with its own benefits, it's a shame I'll never be able to see Sovngarde for the first time again.
I’ve had mix feelings on Skyrim since I played it at launch in 9th grade but one thing I’ve always loved is the world design. It’s crazy how immersive you can make an experience based soley off world design and I attribute it as the reason I still make new characters and play them for like 10 hours every year or so.
I would love if you did Oblivion. I’m nostalgic for it but I always held that the world design was pretty trash, especially compared to Skyrim…. Until I played it again last year. The world of Oblivion is beautiful it’s just covered up by trees. It feels like the world designers were just as ambitious they just didn’t have the same tools/budget. Even the forest grew on me because it creates so many little nooks to hide away in and feels somewhat realistic.
Been replaying lately and gotta say I absolutely adore the Reach. Annoying to navigate, sure, but the Forsworn and their history just feels constantly present in those hills. Markarth itself is so shady and filled with Daedric shrines, corrupt cops, cannibals, and the Silver-Bloods who I somehow get more disgusted by than the cannibals. Never seen anywhere like it before in gaming. It even has these ridiculously intricate ties with the whole civil war, with the Stormcloaks having massacred the natives and put the Silver-Bloods in charge after the Reachfolk retook their homeland. Not to mention the Reachfolk having previously worked with the Aldmeri Dominion centuries ago when Talos/Tiber Septim himself tried to wipe them both out in his weird need to conquer the entire continent. The Reach is like, the center of the entire plot of Skyrim, at least to me.
Whenever anyone says the lore in Skyrim sucks in comparison to Oblivion and Morrowind... I just point them to the Reach, 'cos not only is it cool as heck it also makes me *invested* because it's about people struggling to just live life on their own terms unlike all the nonsense about CHIM and wheels and towers
The Reach definitely stood out to me visually. Its layout is so different from all the other towns in the region, and yeah, it has all that backstory to it. I only dove into a little bit of it myself. But it's good to know there's more to explore both in terms of the landscape and lore if I even return. 👍

Looks beautiful, unfortunately I cant get Skyrim to run on my PC. And then theres the other more modern version that I like alot more: The Witcher 3. That world also spills out details and makes you want to explore every little attraction the map has to offer :)

Meh, a locked door in Skyrim that doesn’t say it requires a key when I look at it may as well already be open. I do enjoy Skyrim, but little things like just being able to walk through most doors as long as I can be hidden make me really miss Oblivions way of doing things. “Want in? Spend three minutes fumbling with your picks until you get good!”

When you find yourself on the side of a mountain, on a clear day or night or in between, just turn around and see sometimes.
That "little thing thing in the distance" might be part of Sundered Towers.
There is a quest objective that brings you to the basement.
Never really like Solitude, always seemed somewhat eerie.
There are a couple of locations like Ancestor Glave, like Eldergleam Sanctuary and Shadowgreen Cavern. Hag's End gets revealed like that.

Kagrenzel (mind the step)
Liar's Retreat
Ruins of Bthalft (the forge)

Sightless Pit (Temple of Xrib)

Lady of the Lake, some ways west of Dragonsreach.
Pincushion Peter, east of Thalmor Embassy.
Skuldafn (and Sovngarde)
Most Daedric quest locations also stand out.
Like Inside Azura's Star, Sacellum of Boethiah, Bloated Man's Grotto, Fallowstone Cave/Giant's Grove, Kilkreath Ruins, Misty Grove, Twilight Sepulcher.
CC stuff, Solitude Sewers, Rielle and Deadlands and Runoff Caverns the largest dungeon in the game.

Definitely sometime. Not anytime soon, as I'm pretty burnt out on Bethesda games having grinded out Skyrim right before Starfield's release, and now with me playing a lot of that.
But definitely sometime.
The underwhelming amount of views is so sad. But on the other hand... it’s like going to the Cloud District. Not many people do, you know.
Nazeem joke aside, I would certainly like another video on Skyrim. Maybe you could enter mod territory with such gems like Beyond Skyrim or Clockwork. But that is of course for you to decide.
One of the things I really hate about Skyrim's game world is that it's actually pretty small. You exit a city, walk for five minutes and stumble upon a bandit base, or a "lost" ancient ruin. I get it, it's not fun to walk endlessly for hours, but that's just the other extreme. It's all so crammed.
Please do the PS2 GTAs next. Would also like Serious Sam and Spider-man games
I'm not SUPER into the GTA games, but the whole series is something I want to check out some day. Serious Sam is an interesting choice. Compared to the other shooters from the era, that game had MASSIVE levels. Could make for an interesting video... 🤔
@@PretzelYT they’re massive and beautiful. While i only played the HD version after its release, but i recently laye the original and the colours and skyboxes are waybmore beautiful. Hope you do get around to Spider-man at some point, Ultimate Spider-Man had some really interesting evitoments i always thought
I played a TON of Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man as a kid. I don't think I'd remember a whole lot of cool spots myself, but I'm down to give them another replay sometime. I'm also probably gonna play the new Spider-Man 2 when that comes out. I'm sure a video on that could be fun too.
@@PretzelYT neat! The games evnitoments are a nostalgic thing that reminds me of the child wonder about exploring game maps. For instance in USM i just liking how you could see the food in hot dog stands and fish in fish markets, let alone buildings like the bugle, fantastic four, dr strange’s etc. Looking forward to it should they happen!

Skyrim was the last well made game of Bethesda. The rest are blessed by the modders.
Very interesting take. I don’t agree or disagree, because I’m biased as Skyrim was my first Bethesda game. But it seems most disagree with you!
I think Skyrim did succeed in a lot of ways, but it also had its fair share of failings. It's a very complicated game. Perhaps a video from me in the near-future will address such a topic... 🤔🧐🧐
@@PretzelYT yes. Would you? It is a power fantasy with a lot of hand holding, kinda grabs the majority where previous games were more and more hardcore RPG the farther you go back. It was well done but it’s so huge I was never able to finish it. I still think it’s their last game, where their collective vision was seen through and completed. It felt done where subsequent games felt either rushed or hollow.
@@zackary6278 interesting. Most people I’ve come across or talked to think Fallout 4 was underwhelming and hollow and 76 downright disappointing. So that’s what I meant by the last thoroughly made game.

Fallout 4 isn't a bad game, and in my opinion, it's even comparable to 3 and NV. They're all very different but good.
But Skyrim, and even the previous Elder Scrolls games just have so much more depth. So many strings attaching characters and factions and stories, traveling between games gives you massive insight to what people in other games are talking about it going through.
Bethesda's Fallout has just never quite been that deep, in my humble opinion.
