I'm brand new to Subaru, as I just brought home a 2015 STI and I gotta say, I absolutely love your videos!! You have been a huge help, especially on this one about bypass valves. I was actually about to buy the Grimmspeed version 2 bypass valve just to get more sound ( as my factory one is pretty quiet) and I think you just saved me a lot of money lol. Thank you so much, and I think I'm just going to stay with the factory one.
turbosmart has been around making bpv's & bov's alot longer than cobb has. i would choose turbosmart over cobb in that area. only thing cobb's good for is the ap.
Yes they do make noise and it is loud all you need is an intake. Then you'll def hear it. You can clearly hear my stock bpv no matter how much you let off the throttle. So just get an intake if yoy people want the sound.
since bpv’s don’t require tune, can you install em without having to worry bout something breaking or do you need to have supporting mods for it? I’m stock rn with only an axleback.

If it’s tuned for it, that’s a different story. But throwing one on an otherwise stock car, the car won’t know what to do since it expects that air to come back. When it’s vented to the atmosphere, it basically gets confused and can cause stumbling and cuts and even cause the car to run lean.
You won’t be able to hear it. It’s very faint and hard to capture audio. You can hear it slightly on some of my in car driving videos, but again, don’t expect a bov sound.
i have the boomba BPV and i love the flutter sound. i might swap it out with the cobb one, ones I go stage 3. still waiting on the bushing install LOL :)
The fit and the finish on the Cobb looks impeccable 👍 and I am sure it performs very well to. The piping attachment separates it from others too👍. I myself went with Go Fast Bits out of Australia 🇦🇺 for my DIT 2.0 FA . They make top notch bypass and blow off valves also I must say.
For your original exhaust, the delta one, how loud is that with stock headers? Is it obnoxious? Or a good deep rumble? The video sounds deeper, but ik videos dont do it justice haha
Nevermind I thought that gray strip on top was an arrow so you can twist it. After a closer look I have determined that it is in fact not adjustable. Anyway it looks clean as s#!+
For sure I was mistaken. I've been running the same turbosmart you got there for like a month now and I love...but your right that Cobb is alot more aesthetically pleasing.
What if its a recirculating bov? I came across a short where the guy installed a hks bov but after reading the comments, apparently the hks bov has a recirculating setup. Here’s the link to that: th-cam.com/users/shorts3MjNyeAHES8?si=5SMHgkbO3Q0ikPq6
Is the cobb any louder than the stock bypass valve? My stock valve is insanely quiet even with cobb intake, perrin turbo inlet and samco tmic/tb/bpv hoses :( Hoping to find a bypass valve thats more noticeable than stock 🤷♂️
really? thats kinda surprising tbh BigSF with the stock inlet I get pretty noticeable sounds, I had a grimmspeed and it was louder yet but not by a large amount
Unfortunately, I’ve heard some pretty negative reviews on that one. Not to say it happens to all, but I think there are better options out there than the Perrin one.
@@Autofreakgarage I ran it for about a year in my 12, it was decent but, when the base snapped on it after hitting boost I went out and got the turbo smart bpv and am extremely happy with it. How's the cobb?
I'm running the COBB and it definitely does the job well. No leaks and the boost definitely holds boost a bit longer between shifts. Enjoy!
Just woke up and I was looking for something to watch, didn’t know I needed this! Thnx!
Yes, the COBB BPV is 100% Billet Aluminum Construction! It does stand out so much more than the TS.
Love the satin + brushed look on the finish. Can't imagine it'll really sound any different.
It’s beautiful. No sound difference, but there is definitely a faster response. It recoils much quicker than the turbosmart.

dont get a bpv or bov
@@JamesonChapman-t1sbypass valve is totally fine, STI’s have a stock recirculating BPV
I love how the Sti’s location for the bypass or blow off valves are on top the engine bay vs where the WRX’s is underneath..
My Turbosmart Kompact performs flawlessly on my WRX. Haven't ran a Cobb yet.
turbosmart has been around making bpv's & bov's alot longer than cobb has. i would choose turbosmart over cobb in that area. only thing cobb's good for is the ap.
yea but the turbosmart 50/50 can easily be closed off completely to be used as a BPV can it not?
Excited to hear the AWE vs COBB exhaust soon!
Engine bay looks super clean where did you get all those colored bolts?
Check out my videos on it. It’s all from titanium works.
Thanks for the knowledge you’re STI looks 🧼 👏🏾

grimmspeed released their own yesterday..might have to get one soon
any difference ?
Cobb is much higher quality overall. Less chance for leaking. Although, I did heard a bit more flutter in decel with the turbosmart.
Do you need a tune to run the turbosmart bpv?
no it's a BPV not a BOV
Amazing Info. All my questions were answered.
Unless you’re tuned on Speed Density then BOV is ok!
Other way around, speed density accounts for post turbo pressure so it can calculate for bov. Maf tuned cant account for it and runs rich
Dang....that Cobb bpv is very clean 👌
But agree it would look better with stealth look
Speed density and bov goodness for me
What was the trick to get that stock clamp on the bpv. Seen people struggle also saying that stock clamp doesnt work right
No trick just need to slip it over the elbow
since bpv’s don’t require tune, can you install em without having to worry bout something breaking or do you need to have supporting mods for it? I’m stock rn with only an axleback.
Nothing else needed for the bpv. Can be the only mod you do.
Love mine but I agree wish the flange was black to match my grimmspeed top mount
I need help I have the same exact car as you but I have a front mount intercooler and I want change my bpv what do I do
Your ic piping should have a place for the bpv.

No you do not need a bpv to get ewg.
When I I got my car it was already protuned from EFI Logics with a 50/50 bov. What are some of the issues I may run in to and should I be concerned?
If it’s tuned for it, that’s a different story. But throwing one on an otherwise stock car, the car won’t know what to do since it expects that air to come back. When it’s vented to the atmosphere, it basically gets confused and can cause stumbling and cuts and even cause the car to run lean.
That definitely makes sense without having a proper tune for it. So seems like with the proper tune I shouldnt have any issues
@@Mrhiddendeath “should” lol
Did you have to retune when switching?
No tune is needed for a recirculating bpv
Boomba made a BPV for the STI's a few months back. It's hard to find any videos on it. Maybe you can give it a shot for us Chris 😏
I have the boomba one, sounds pretty good for a bpv, loud with the cobb intake
@@MrMcbear Good to hear! I want to get it. I'll probably buy it once I've accumulated everything else needed for Stage 3.
@@MrMcbear did you need tune for the bpv?
my wrx is already protuned with the stock bpv, will i need retune for cobb bpv?
No sir. As mentioned, it functions like stock so there is no difference on how it works. It will just hold the power for consistently.
Whats your opinion on Perrin's BPV?
There are better options out there
Would an intake gives us a better sound with a bpv? What else parts would give us a louder sound?
Intake gives the most sound minus an exhaust, yes.
Yes without the air box, also a front mount intercooler and an external wastegate.
What a bout the hold in the intake that your pov gose to
engine bay so clean 🤤
Is it bad if I run a block off plate between my stock bpv ?
What is the reasoning that you would want to run a block off plate?
Was the cobb or the turbosmart louder?
Turbosmart had a bit more volume but it’s very minimal with either.
Could you do a rev/drive video on the Turbosmart BPV I’m looking to get one for my 2011 WRX!
You won’t be able to hear it. It’s very faint and hard to capture audio. You can hear it slightly on some of my in car driving videos, but again, don’t expect a bov sound.

Can I run a boomba BPV on my 2014 WRX? I can’t find anything on it anywhere so I assume it was made only for the 2015+ models
@@Livid_R6 did you ever find out?
Where would a bpv go if you have fmic?
On the piping of the FMIC. Depends on what brand on exact position though.
does it sound any different from OEM ?
Yes. It does have a small flutter when you get off the gas aggressively.
What kind of battery is that. ?
Stock
Love that top mount
if the flange was also painted white, it would look so much nicer
I went tial, my fmic comes in friday! cheers!

Pleas watch the video. I go over this.
do you need tune for this?

Titanium pipe in the back ?
Radiator pipe from rk titanium
I figured that’s what it was how are the couplings are they good quality?
For your original exhaust, the delta one, how loud is that with stock headers? Is it obnoxious? Or a good deep rumble? The video sounds deeper, but ik videos dont do it justice haha
It was loud. But it sounded good. Droned a lot but it was tolerable.
Is it adjustable?
Not adjustable as this is a direct replacement for an OEM bpv.
Nevermind I thought that gray strip on top was an arrow so you can twist it. After a closer look I have determined that it is in fact not adjustable. Anyway it looks clean as s#!+

Lol the entitlement like you “made” them buy it 🤪 .. also good to know Cobb BPV and OTS tunes are fine for smog in Commiefornia.
Is the cobb any louder than the stock bypass valve? My stock valve is insanely quiet even with cobb intake, perrin turbo inlet and samco tmic/tb/bpv hoses :(
Hoping to find a bypass valve thats more noticeable than stock 🤷♂️
Bpv’s don’t offer much noise. The new Grimmspeed one I’ve heard seems to have some nice noises to it.
really? thats kinda surprising tbh BigSF with the stock inlet I get pretty noticeable sounds, I had a grimmspeed and it was louder yet but not by a large amount

Nope. There are no threads there. It’s so you can position the flange in the orientation you need.
Don't do it "trust me"
