    Finally someone who doesn't only play prog music on a strandberg! Loved the vid mate cheers!

      Glad you like it. I’m currently working on a fender twin repair/mod video. Check out the first one on my channel. I play this guitar a lot more there.

    I have the HH version of this guitar, also refurbished. I replaced the knobs with "nubby" knobs. I didn't like the smoothness. I then swapped out the stock pickups for Tom Anderson HF1 and HF2 pickups. The stock pickups were/are pretty good, but I wanted something more "vintage-y". Finally, I changed the strings to .009s and haven't had any issues. I've owned roughly 15 electrics (Gibson, Fender, Godin, G&L) and this guitar has the best intonation of any of them. For me, this guitar has been a great purchase. I'm looking to get a Classic 6 in the near future.

      The more I play this guitar, the more I think the two humbucker version was the way to go, but I love single coils. Cheers

      Also, It’s cool to hear that 9s worked on your guitar. I’m thinking of trying that on my next string change.

      @@pfmusic1636 Rick Beato has a video on string gauges and their effect on tone. He compared 008 - 011 and most agreed the 009s had the best combination of high-end and "thump".

      @@pfmusic1636 I still have 3 G&L ASAT variants with single-coils, but I'm leaning towards the Classic 6 just for the ergonomics. I'm also hoping to travel after the pandemic clears up enough and the strandbergs are perfect travel guitars. Combine with a HX Stomp and good headphones and you're all set.

      @@mikeaustin4138 the stomp xl looks really intriguing but the $750 price tag makes my helix lt look like a much better deal.

    Thanks for the info on these guitars. Sounds like you bought a lemon 🍋. Would Strandberg not allow you to return the 2nd guitar? Why make the lemonade? The nut and the heel being off is pretty major screw-up. Ola needs to crack that whip. Hope it all works out

      Hahaha, well I'm a more negative person. I had paid around 1250 for mine, they raised the price after I got the second one and I really liked the fretboard so I've been making it work.

    Thanks, I bought the same guitar this week. Correct me if I get wrong, you advice to don't change the gauge to 0.09 because of how it's made.
    Also I would like to ask if you had some ground or noise issues with the electronics. My guitar is very noisy in 4 o 5 positions.
    Thanks for sharing your experience

    • @javierrobledo83
      @javierrobledo83 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      About the noise, in the position 4 (neck middle) there is a noise when I touch the strings and the diferent metal parts but this is not happening with the other positions. Also on the position 1 (bridge) is very noisy, and I think the connection is somehow wrong.

    • @pfmusic1636
      @pfmusic1636  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right, I’m not sure the guitar will play well with 9’s. I’m planning a mod that should allow me to get 9s on it in the future. I’ve had some life stuff I’ve needed to complete.
      Concerning your noise issues, I’d talk with them directly about it. Position 4 should be noise cancelling. Open up the backplate and take a pic to send to them as well as a demo video explaining the issue. They will try to help you. Ask for an upgraded gigbag for your troubles.

    I'm buying a strandberg tomorrow and in my research you seem to be the only person getting these issues, hoping mine isn't messed up ill provide an update

      @pfmusic1636  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, if you look on their website, you will see all 5 star reviews, mine was never posted, and it was not 5 stars... I just finished cutting the B string tuner so i can get it to intonate properly.

      @@pfmusic1636 damn thats rough sorry to hear, I've personally dreamt of just playing one and I'm buying one, id like to play it in person since its alot of money to drop on a guitar I haven't played and your experience has definitely made me more cautious but it should only take a couple days to ship so ill let you know, love the content btw

      This was the second referb guitar I got from Strandberg. The first was worse, I returned after they failed to repair the damage. I am willing to fix these issues on this guitar. Many people may not be. If you notice anything and you don't wanna deal with it, just return it. Or buy it new from Sweetwater.

    wow! what a disaster - and what a list of issues on a new $1300 guitar purchase. overall sounds like one major hassle after another, looking at the piece of tin foil jammed under the E string for starters, lordy

    • @pfmusic1636
      @pfmusic1636  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol, I made a second video working on the electronics and comparing it to my Strat and Les Paul. The foil really didn’t help much. I’ve since used JB weld on the zero fret to raise it up and also stop the fret from being destroyed by the strings. It’s a fun “project.”
