This is a much better video of Mr. Wallace sparring. He doesn't look like a bully in this video. It looks like light, friendly sparring, even though Mr. Wallace can get competitive and speed up his punching and kicking, but tried to keep it light. At one point, Mr. Wallace hit the other kid hard, and then apologized. I would be very nervous about sparring with Mr. Wallace and I bet this kid was nervous too. I have watched a few sparring videos of Mr. Wallace. It looks like he tries to keep it friendly, but he doesn't like getting challenged, and can get very competitive (almost angry) if he gets tagged. I would almost be afraid to even try to hit him, even at his age now, I don't think I would want to sparr with him.

The king of kickboxing. Bill only used his left leg and stuck to the basics (rarely spinning back, mostly side, front, and roundhouse)and remained unbeaten for 6 years. A true role model of how to conduct yourself. A gentleman !

Haha those fast mid-level side/roundkicks are Superfoots version of "boxing jab". He doesnt intend those as attacks. He intends those to set up attacks, Talks a lot about that in seminaars.

Yeah man grew up sparring old school guys from 70's and 80's PKA glory days. That's just how they are. What's funny is they start every spar with "let's go light..." 😏

The video description says it all what's wrong.
"This was my second time meeting Bill, but my first time sparring with him. I was very nervous and tried not to throw anything too hard because I was worried he might hurt me if I connected with anything."
Think about it. You are practicing full-contact karate but you are in so much of awe and respect and fear of one's presence that you do not dare to go full-contact even though you were practicing full-contact karate. How does that make the wallaces and other senseis feel about themselves? Invincible? That's right. Too much of respect results to a false sense of competence and soon enough they evolve to george dillmans.

I feel like that other guy was decent, and faired pretty well with the Super Foot at least in the beginning (even though it was supposed to be "friendly" sparring), but Mr Wallace did not like getting hit with the spinning hook kick and retaliated and taged him a few times. Mr. Wallace then apologized and said he would not hit him hard, but after that, the other guy became timid and was afraid to through the spinning hook kick or anything. Overall, it was a good sparring session, and most of it was light contact, even though some of the strikes were not slow, but it it does show that Mr. Wallace can get a little competitive when he is tagged, and the other guy became timid, witch doesn't make for an ideal sparring session. I have met Sensei Wallace at seminar a couple years ago. He is an interesting guy, and full of energy, and it's amazing what he can still do at his age. I did not spar with him, and I have to tell you, I don't think I would ever want to spar with him, even at his age right now, the man can still fight.

@@attiylanen I think I know what video you are talking about. Is it the video where they were only boxing? I happen to like that video, guilty pleasure, but it is disturbing. It's really hard to determine how much of it is Bill's fault or the other guys fault. We don't know for sure if the other guy was being a dick and got what he deserved (although, honestly I don't know if that would actually justify what Bill Wallace did),or if Mr. Wallace was being a little too competitive (or just being a bully), or a combination of both. Only thing I would correct you on with your original statement, they were not practicing full contact Karate in the above video (or in the other video with the green belt), it was supposed to be (and was for the most part) light controlled contact/point Karate, even though Bill Wallace is a retired Full Contact Karate Champion and a retired and undefeated middle weight kick boxing champion. I think the above video showed a much better sparring session than the video with the green belt where Mr. Wallace appeared to be a bully.

Actually, after Bill throws the left kick the kid could easily do a double leg takedown to shake him up. Then, throw some hard right leg kicks to Bill's front left thigh to slow him down and keep doing that and I bet he won't be so bold to come straight in. Just saying he's got weakness too.
