Oh my goodness... your hand just flows when you're writing. I know you've done this for years, and it shows..I just judge myself so harshly... my dream is to write life you. I just ordered your beginner book and I can't wait to start. I've always ALWAYS loved lettering.. just didn't know what it was called. I started with a pen called a Rapidograph. Architects used them for technical drawing. Now I've bought most of the pens that you endorse. Thank you Sarah. You're vey inspiring.

    My Summary:
    1. Prioritize it over doom scrolling (maybe have a pen and notebook with you so it's just as close as your phone)
    2. Hand lettering isn't about become a master, it's about distressing. (Other habits can be distressing too)
    3. Choose a set of pens and put the others away. Stick with them for a while and exhaust the benefits out of them.
    4. Don't force it.
    5. Pick something you're interested in and exhaust the benefits of that system or system, then move on.
Keep it up and thanks for posting!

I’m not new to calligraphy but I am new to brush calligraphy and drawings…. I found your videos the day before yesterday and I love them… you have a soothing voice and I love your suggestions…. I just ordered your book, Pentel and Karin pens and many of your tool recommendations…I’m very excited and wanted to say thank you!

I like just a few inexpensive pens….. I don’t get overwhelmed. Less is more. Love your book as well.

hello sarah! since am kinda early i just wanna say this. i used to watch your vids just for fun and because they didnt have some crappy music and your voice is lovely. i had no intention to start lettering because i thought my pens and pencils werent enough. but you helped me toss that mindset in the trash and now im learning lettering and it has helped me ALOT. thank you truly ❣also one thing id like to point out in this video is how you only used black (most of the part). it made me... kinda happy and assured me that its okay that i dont have drawer full of million pens. keep doing what you do!

Sarah, thanks for sharing your talents with us-you have so many! I found you thru YT, and just bought your book. I’ve been working on hand lettering for a few months, trying to develop my own style. I learned so much *just last night* reading your book. So excited for your help with improving-not perfecting-my lettering :)

    Hi Sarah,
thank you so much for your great and relaxed videos. They are super helpful for learning and practicing lettering that I always get very excited + motivated, although my main priority is to entertain a toddler as well… 🙃
However, I really like your font when you write ’practice‘ in the last picture of this video. Where can I find it?
Thank you! Your doing a really great job here!

I’m so glad you are finding it helpful! Entertaining a toddler is the best and also the craziest… 😅
The font I referenced for “practice” is called Magic Retro and it’s free for personal use from dafont.com! 👍

Hi sarah! When it comes to swatches i really like how you do it. Right now the most popular brush pens is "writech sign brush pen" i would appreciate if you swatch it and do an honest review. Thank you

I’m glad you spotted that. Actually I wasn’t trying to hide that! It’s a good practice to use pencil before going in with a pen. I recommend it to everyone no matter what experience level you are!
