I've tried Calligraphy for years. I've spent $$ on kits, how-to books, and video tapes (told you it's been years, LOL). Your 5-ish minutes video taught me more than all the kits put together. You are a great instructor! Thanks for the 3. Can't wait to start working on it again. Nice that all the kits came with lined/graph paper; makes me think it wasn't money wasted!🙂

I can't believe you did this in five minutes. I bet a formal course would try to space this out into an hour or more but you managed to compress it to the most informative little video. Very impressive! This is why I love TH-cam.

I have been battling with this particular font for many, many moons. The way you broke it down was perfect. You turned it into a one & done lesson. Of course I'll play around with it as to come up with my own style, but all I can say is Thanx a ton and be safe 🤘.

Okay, I am hooked!! I tried calligraphy once after a visit to the Japanese Deer Park in Los Angeles when I was 12. Mom bought me a kit which includes some pens, nibs, paper, and ink. I tried for a couple of weeks and never got anywhere near as far as I just did in 5 minutes with this video, following along with paper and pencil -- thank you so much! You definitely have a new subscriber!

I read a lot of the comments before I watched the video, and I kept thinking "There's no way all these people are right about this short video!"... But then I watched it. Oh my goodness.... I am astonished with how I was never taught this after trying to learn how to do calligraphy! And I've been interested in this ever since I was in the 6th grade in the back in 1989-90!! So I definitely tip my hat to you ma'am for compressing the absolute basics of calligraphy and putting them in this short, but very comprehensive video. And to think I just got a new set of brush pens delivered yesterday... I can't wait!!!

I watched this video plus your videos: lowercase alphabet, uppercase alphabet and how to connect the letters into words (all on modern calligraphy because I'm an absolute begginer), I've been practicing for about half an hour and it already looks like I'm using this method for about a year! Your explaining is so good! Thank you so much!

Nice one! Pressure is essential part in calligraphy. Upward light and downward harder reveals balance. We can't write light both sides and vice versa. This is the beauty of this art. God bless

Caligraphy is done with fountain pens or dip pens. The sample words looks like cursive.
@@ccbarr58yes this is just cursive. Calligraphy is more than just the type of pen. It's the style of penmanship. Basically it's making the words look more artistic.

Wow! I did calligraphy with a calligraphy pen to get my thick & thins by turning pen to a 45 degree angle. This is amazing, i never knew you could do this with a sharp pencil. It was the angle not the pressure that made the thick & thins.

years ago The Kansas City Jewelry School offered courses on hand engraving. the first several months consisted of practicing lettering strokes, with a pencil, similar to this.
