We lived a few hundred feet from and watched them convert the ET & WNC railroad bed into the Tweetsie trail. I picked up a box of the old railroad spikes !
It has changed a LOT! I've lived here 15 years. Erin is pretty, but has few businesses and little medical resources. It doesn't offer many houses for sale, and many of those are old and need lots of repairs, which are hard to find anyone competent to do at ant reasonable price or correctly. Traffic to Johnson City is heavy and snowy often and hilly in Winter.
My mckamey and some of my denton's first settled in the Piney flats areas in the later 1780's. They were some of original settlers in the ne tennessee area. Then the Denton's eventually settled over off cherokee rd in Johnson city,tn and my mom's jones family settled down just west of jonesborough in the fairview community. My dad's mother's stevens, yates and huskins families lived over in the embreeville area along banks of the beautiful nolichukey River and near the Bumpus cove mountains.
You did a great job on this video. Very informative, it moves swiftly but allows you time to see the view and understand what you are saying before moving on.
Hi im john kirby and I love all of Tennessee ❤😊it's a great and perfect state to live all you have to do is look at the brown State CALIFORNIA is not what it use to be
Who is this Tiffany Watts? She says she is a real estate agent and lives in Johnson City. She posted a video bashing Johnson City then she says she loves it there. What a HYPOCRITE she is.
Thank You, no mention of "rent to buy" , I don't know about others, but Im not in the position to throw down $300,000 .........thats why I was looking further north in the TriCities area , however , these beautiful little towns you show have much more charm and natural beauty surrounding them than the TriCities seem to have. (Don't like "flat".like Florida)........I am from upstate NY, and where I currently live is just as beautiful as anywhere Ive seen yet in Tenn. ( sorry! ;-)..., however the politics here are , well... won't go there. I am a music director at a local Baptist church and my wife is a manicurist , finding these kinds of jobs in the little towns would not be easy as well. Though Maryville and Erwin look wonderful.
Wife and I are from Florida. Really would like to move to Tennessee. Been thinking about moving to middle of TN. Been checking around. I have e few years before I retire, but we are thinking ahead. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
There are two kinds of dams: flood control and navigation. Generally there is always enough water for navigation. Flood control is a primary concern of TVA. During the fall and winter the lakes must be down a lot because starting in December to almost all of May there is a lot of rain, plus the snow melt in the Rocky Mountains must be considered in April when for several weeks the river is mostly "turned off" to protect the lower Mississippi valley. They must have capacity to hold back the water.
thats one of the main things that has drawn me to look in this area. Roan mountains really get that thick snow and i could ski there? Almost finished my degree, and was looking to johnson city for cheap rent, and hoping for a job in IT somewhere around that area, or warehouses as thats what i been doing. I like the mountains and hiking and steam, might get a kayak or something it just looks amazing up there, loved colorado, but i really hate being back in coastal ga, its flat and just trees and swamp lol
I grew up in eastern end of Hawkins County. RHE HOLSTON RIVER flies westward from Allendale area all the way down to just past Rogersville where it flows into the cherokee lake. That lake runs down past mooreaburg and Bean Station on down into hamblen county and Morristown. Up in sullivan county reedy creek runs from blountville area westward into kingsport,tn. You have several lakes in south hollston which is located east of bristol, boone lake which runs from out off hwy 19E and bluff city then flows westward by tri cities Airport over to boobe damn. Then below the boonw dam the river flows into Patrick Henry lake in colonial heights where Patrick Henry damn is located. Then below that damn the river is called the holston river flowing through kingsport on westward down Netherland inn area into eastern end of Hawkins County where it merges with the northfork branch of the holston river which flows southward out of gate city and Scott county,va area. There is plenty of water in northeast Tennessee for the water enthusiasts to go enjoy boating kayaking or fishing.
For a single mother, looking for great schools, family activities, affordable living, beautiful scenery, what town do you recommend? I was looking into Johnson City
Johnson City or any of the towns mentioned in this video would be a great choice. They all have beautiful scenery with restaurants, shopping and grocery stores for your day to day needs. The towns mentioned in this video also have good access to Johnson City. Johnson City would certainly offer more variety as far as things to do. It depends on whether you prefer space and rural living or residing in the city.
I recommend checking the schools. There are lots of school reviews online for the schools in the area. Also, look at crime stats. Some towns have higher crime stats than others. We looked those two before we bought.

Need to find rural but close enough . Happy with older homes with goodbones😊
We have many rural areas to consider! That’s what many people love about this area.
Wonderful video Stphanie! Well done, I love it! Can't wait to get out there!
Thank you Constance! You’re going to be living in and enjoying this area very soon!! Congratulations!!
Remember she is a REALTOR!
I went to East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. It's a beautiful area.
Brostol, Kingsport and Johnson City are all 21 miles apart from each other forming a triangle.

My paternal grandfather had a brother who lived in Erwin, but I have never been there.
Erwin has a nice historic downtown tucked in the mountains. Quaint and beautiful. Hopefully you can visit someday.
Excellent video!
Thank you!
We're are the 125,000 dollar homes. Preferably outside of the towns

Question, Why does The TVA draw the reservoir Lakes down so much in the late fall and winter months ? We don’t see that in the northern states.
Due to the water running down from the mountains.
@@LivinginJohnsonCityTennessee thanks

Floods
Where is the opening scene shot at?
Near the Wellness Center in Johnson City. There are some nice walking trails in that area.
What are the crime rates in the areas? Great video!
Today is July 1st 2024….better update those house prices…..double them..
Why don't you look into Roan Mountian. I have lived here for 46 years. It is the most beautifull part of Tennessee in my option

Any Civil War stuff around these places?
There is tons of civil war history throughout Northeast Tennessee.
Is there a good online source for maps of rivers, streams, and creeks in Sullivan and Hawkins counties?
Maybe Easttn.us
@@LivinginJohnsonCityTennessee Thx, will check it out.

@@harolddenton6031 hello! I’m wondering if you know where there are rivers with clean swimming areas and safe people?
Where are the best hospitals?
In the Tri Cities Johnson City Medical Center
We are looking to move to Tennessee but want house with land not in suburbs
The are several towns that are all rural in NE TN.

Many dollar stores... I dont think that's good,
@@LivinginJohnsonCityTennessee That would be great.
Which towns have the lowest property tax?
They are somewhat similar. You may want to live in a rural area outside of town. It could cut your taxes in half.
Blountville, only unincorporated county seat in America.
Im 77 yts old, more likely renting my option
