These men are a mix of tribes as some of the men do not know the items. The front row are clearly men of Ngāti Porou East Coast as the items Hitara Waha Huka (composed Oct, 1943) and the haka Ponga Ra are Ngati Porou classics. They are likely from a recently arrived reinforcement group as the battalion had been in Italy since Oct 1943. Think I could spy Padre Huata in the group, which makes sense as he had a group of troubadours (musicians and entertainers) that are accompanying the performance.

@@robrekkit2132 Not quite accurate. The French Moroccans circled the Germans and they pulled out. The Poles defeated an empty abbey.
