- Watch some Kart Cross going flat-out around Castelletto Circuit!
These single-seater buggies are powered by a 600cc motorbike engine (you can choose between Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda or Kawasaki) which is able to produce 130HP at 16.000rpm, for a total weight of 300kg!

The sketch level of these karts make them look so fun!!!

In the meantime I'll definitely have to research if it's in Canada
I had an uncle that did open cart racing back in the 70s and 80s. He had 2 or 3 machines, and at least one was powered by an engine out of a Honda CB350.
But overall, very reminiscent of the super modified class you'll see on dirt tracks in the States.
The Honda 350 twins were tough & very dependable engines. Pull off the flywheel (i believe its called a total loss system) & they've got some serious throttle response

I think a front swaybar would help to keep both front tires on the ground when cornering .
Could they be setup differently if they were just competing on tarmac? The suspension looks quite soft presumably because they race on gravel too? + where can I buy one?

People that play instruments do it all of the time.
From the seat with those rpms I’m sure it feels fast enough (with the 600cc on tarmac), but the keyboard warrior in me tells me that I’d want a 1300cc busa or zx14r engine. In the sand or hill climbing I’m sure there would be a benefit to having the extra power.
These look ridiculously fun and the consumables can’t be too expensive.
Yup smaller and lighter means more time on tires and brakes definitely... When autocrossing I noticed that heavier cars wear tires and breaks exponentially faster.. like all things being equal if you double the weight you square the amount of force on parts..

@@lukesteele5013 13b is too heavy with everything needed. Good for a larger single seat or a small 2 seat buggy. Rotaries run hot, they’re loud, high maintenance and very inefficient on fuel.

Mini open wheel modifieds are a thing.
Yes mini open wheeled is a thing but they also race these on dirt a lot, correct me if I'm wrong but that's what they are built for is dirt right? Once upon a time I was looking into these things as a fun semi-affordable way to get into Motorsports and fabrication.
Side note kind of, they have go-kart racing you know on dirt tracks and most of those that I've seen actually have bodies that somewhat resemble you know modified cars
@@malcolmroberts6749 in the US mini sprint cars are called the legends series, they all use a toyota tacoma(hilux) axle...but are still expensive, any racing is expensive. The cheapest racing you could do would be karts, or maybe enduro dirtbike stuff where you just need a 6,000 dollar bike and about another 10k in equioment and spare parts. Or you could do like SCCA autocross, or spec miatas...thats usually peoples street cars except for the miatas

Kind of reminds me of when they run the stadium trucks on asphalt, but it's smaller and it's a buggy.
The stadium trucks really shouldn't do as good as they do , but it's impressive to see a good driver haul ass in one because I'm sure it's like being a one legged man in an ass kicking contest to control.
Definitely hard on parts too, but alot of fun to see something out of its element work as good as it does.
@@MrArlenBrazill nope they are basically rally karts. They are just having fun with them on the track here but the main events are more rally like events. That's why they need the extra travel.

When one front wheel comes off the ground "YEAHH!!!", when one rear wheel comes off the ground "YEEAAAHHH!!!" ...when two wheels come off the ground "OH SHIT!!!!"
its bad set up, that orange car has no negative camber, when you add that to a very soft rear spring rate, you get the reat tire biting and digging in and wanting to flip the car, you can see why its set up like that as zro negative camber gives super grip firing him out of corners
About 15 years ago I put a 125cc engine on a go kart frame with a golf cart rear end, was wicked fast with no suspension lol...clutch under seat ledge and a big pile to shift....death trap but there r awesome!
Reminds me of when we took my old 440cc snowmobile engine and did the same thing, stupid fast lol

Needs a two stroke engine. Triple the noise, double the fun. Imagine those with a V8 Evinrude engine.
Too frickin big, just go look up the 2 stroke v8 drag car to see how much pipe that thing would need!

Also the evinrude is fucking huge. It wont fit in the car and it will need a ton of pipe work with expansion chambers and stuff.

Someone mentioned about suspensio geometry moving roll center and eliminating bump steer, but given this seems to also remove 40€ of steering, i dont see it major benefit...

The suspensions look more for offroad.
Mainly they are built for off road but it depends on how the suspension is setup. At least the way they are done you can go both stiffing or making them soft depending on what your on. Watched a few guys make these never drove one myself but they are like mini dune bugges with independent suspension all the way around lol

Why not lower these cars for tarmac. This seems stupid they’re set up for dirt. They need to be lowered and have tighter suspension. They’d go much faster.

But these engines are not exclusive to motorcycles 🤷 motorcycling is fun because the crowd falls 🤣 the cars have thousands and thousands of modalities, from karts, prototypes, to vans and etc... it's much more dynamic

We got idiots with 600 MotoGP engines in the back of their shifter karts in place of 125 that spin around in circles and pop the tires and everybody thinks that's fun but no cross card...if you ever figure out a way to get here with all your gear ..WE MAKE BILLIONS and ah oh last year a cross kart team at the Pikes Peak hill climb broke the record to the top setting the over all time faster than anything ever before in a Cross Kart ..you tube it and you will see a kart similar to yours but too big too heavy too slow that has failed in too many attempts till just last year after years of trial and mostly error

I don't know how I haven't ever seen these before a couple days ago! I can't tell ya how many times and how many different ways I've searched 'go carts with crotch rocket engines' on TH-cam and these never came up!
Looks like they need some big adjustments in suspension geometry. The rear roll center is so low they're always nearly tipping over.
Hauling gas . sounds like 12 Ducati bikes going around that track . yet half the time there not even 4 wheels so are they trike trucks ?? 😆

Oh my, I didn't know these guy's even existed! Love to have my own, but these things probably cost 30Gs just to build one to compete with, just like EVERYTHING does when it comes to racing, no matter what your riding, driving, flying or even peddling now day's.

engine won't last a 1000 km.
I know all of these are all probably built to certain spec but it looks like they need stiffer suspension, a wider wing and maybe a front spoiler. They would be like mini F1 cars at that point
these look awesome.. but would go way quicker if you hardened all that pogo suspension up!
