Originally from New Jersey, Brittany comes from a diverse family with several siblings, 2 sets of adopted siblings, and French Bulldogs the family rescues and raises. Her many travels, her years teaching with Americor, and her passion for people’s wellbeing is all reflected in the thoughtful but vibrant decor of her home. Brittany says, emphatically, that your home should encourage you to reflect, find inspiration and take action to live with purpose. Her 501 sq ft apartment is steps away from the High Line in Chelsea. Outside she’s surrounded by people and art from all walks of life. Inside her very bright studio apartment, she’s surrounded by a mix of antique and contemporary furnishings, an Abby Scott Baker women’s suffrage poster, a cowhide rug, shutters from the Second Chance project in Baltimore and many more unexpected pieces that all come together in a colorful balanced collage. Some tricks that make her space feel larger: obvious and open pathways from the front door to the bedroom nook, white wood floors that reflect light, minimal window covers that bring the outside in. One of our favorite features is the awkward closet in the bedroom that Brittany turned into an open vanity. After removing the closet door, she wallpapered the nook with peel and stick wallpaper, added painted shelves and attractive organizing baskets to create a feminine and unexpected bonus area. Very unique collection of things from the past. I like the idea of old shutters on the walls and the metal and leather chair is a star on its own. Thank you Brittany and Apartment Therapy for this delightful look at how one can live in a studio space and have it look interesting and warm.
Personally, I think her studio is beautifully decorated and the layout of her furniture is situated cohesively.Godly, her studio is equivalent to a large one bedroom apartment, the difference is that her’s studio is prioritized in the old saying: “Go Big or Go Home.” Love it.

I've lived in studios. I find them cozy. What I like about yours is all the sunlight! I also like that your bed is in its own little alcove. The studios I have had have essentially been one big room. You have a great layout and decor!

Beautiful apartment. Like all the colorful art and the leather chair.
The pops of colour in the living room with the sofa, the bathroom with the shower curtain and the bedroom with her quilt cover and artwork really just makes the space. It's not overly colourful but it's a good balance. The addition of the large fig plant ties the space to it being a living space full of life and freshens up the space. love it.

Re: Your white floors (or any colour floors), make is a No Shoes inside the apartment. The soles of shoes are just nasty no matter the colour/type of flooring. If folks have to take off their shoes before entering or just inside the door, your floors and carpets will stay cleaner longer.
In the UK, this type of accommodation is Called a bedsit, living in one room…
Candles on both sides of the kitchen faucet?
The only thing I don't like is the shutters on the wall and the overly cluttered coffee table. Other than that, it's a great place.❤

From the light, to the paneling to the floors this does not give NYC vibes, which is impressive.

To me it seems that there is way too much stuff which makes it look cluttered. I like the sleeping nook. Where does she have all her clothes? And all the files and papers that one normally has?
It shocks me how many people make sunlight such a huge priority. "Lots of light" would be about number fifty on my list of priorities.
