She is so energetic and fun. She has such a youthful aura. She's the kind of person who probably has lots of younger friends. Old people could not keep up with her! 😂
Best line of the video - “the fan is off and on all day due to the temperature fluctuations of a senior lady”. Hilarious! Well done with the cozy space. Admirable.
😅😅😅 I rewound that part three or four times because I wanted to memorize exactly how she said that! And it was quite difficult to do so because my hands are so sweaty in the patio room in this house in Las Vegas😅😅😅
I turned my master bedroom in to a 400 square-foot studio and rent it out for $900 a mo. completely blocked off from the main house. It even has its own separate entrance. best idea ever!
Probably didn’t cost an arm and a leg to complete the transformation of the space. Love the thrift store idea. I used to get great things there as well.
This brings back good memories. Growing up my grandma always lived with us (five kids!). We didn't have much but she managed to make her room so beautiful and cozy. It was a special little get away from the rest of the chaotic house. We would fight over who got to sleep in her room. We'd sit in her big fluffy bed watching Law and order and unsolved mysteries thinking we were cool because she'd let us taste her nighttime wine cooler lol
When my grands spend the night, they love getting into my bed, too. We watch Seventh Heaven reruns and eat snacks IN BED. rofl My daughter tells me that her fun memories, of staying at grams, was the fact that rules were allowed to be broken. So she chuckles at watching her kids come here and breaking some rules. No one has died from crumbs in a bed. 🤣🤣🤣 Making memories.
What a fantastic idea. You have your family if you need them and your own apartment., And you are helping your family because the cost of renting is ridiculous. It looks great Lulu x
@@LulusWay64 my grandparents partitioned a portion of their home and turned it into an apartment for lease. Later as the grandparents aged, one of their daughters and her husband, moved into the apartment and took care of my grandmother til her passing. I think these homes with apartments or studios are a win win situation.
I just adore you! I had a 900 square-foot granny flat built in my backyard. And I rented out my 1500 square-foot home in front. Single guy that lives there with his dog. It pays my small mortgage plus a little extra and I have a full size living space just for me. You’re so inspiring
I found your You Tube channel quite by mistake this evening, but oh my! Perfect timing! My 80th birthday is coming up very soon, and my daughter and son-in-law are wanting me to move into their house for safety. I recently had a stroke and I have severe arthritis.... Living alone has become challenging. Interestingly, they are giving me one of the largest bedrooms with a private bath. Your ideas are spot on. This house is a Queen Anne Victorian with stairs, of course, so I plan to incorporate a mini "kitchen" and living room, very much like yours. I'm so happy to have watched your video! What an encouragement for me! Thank you, sweet lady. You have blessed me!
👋🏾Lulu popped up tonight for me as well. I am 73 and will be moving into a similar space in a new house with my son’s family (wife, granddaughter, 3 dogs, 2 cats). My space there is located within the house, but has its own staircase up to my room and bath. Ii am inspired by what Lulu shared in her video. I am also challenged by a spinal injury which limits my mobility, so downsizing from a huge two-bedroom apartment where I only sit and sleep on my living room sofa makes sense. My only concern is that I have lived alone for 35 years. I do not want to interrupt or intrude on my kid’s lives. . .or, lose my independence. I wish you well.
We did this almost 2 years ago. We changed our master bedroom into a studio apartment and my mom lives in there and myself, my bro in law and husband live in the rest of the house. It’s a nice apartment and my mom loves it. It’s nice to have her close. She’s 83.
hi Donna!! it's a wonderful way for family to live together but separately!! so happy to hear it works well for you and that you have mom so close!! so sweet!! Lulu
Multigenerational living used to be the norm. We moved away from it in the post-WWII era, to our detriment mostly. Glad to see it's coming back in fashion.
@@pampire13 I imagine multigenerational living would be wonderful in a home where everyone treated everyone else with appreciation, love and respect. When I was 15, my Granddad died and my Grandmother came to live with my Mother, Dad, my older brother and me. My Mother and Grandmother bickered and criticized each other constantly. My brother had a job and a girlfriend and came home just long enough to eat and sleep. My Dad sat silently by, paid the bills and kept quiet. I loved my dad and felt sorry he was unable to have a moment’s peace under his own roof. I couldn’t stand the animosity. It was a sad home, and I left as soon as I could. I never found a way to be happy around my Mother or Grandmother again. My Mother, Dad, and Grandmother are all gone now. My brother and I live 30 mins apart but rarely communicate or see each other. I’m 70 and it makes me sad to this day…
My husband and I are planning to buy an RV and travel 6-9 months of the year. Our home has 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, an upstairs family room and a spacious Florida room- too much space for us now. We have decided to have my oldest daughter, her husband and my GRANDSON move into our home. We will be moving our bedroom and living area upstairs so that they can have the complete downstairs. It’s a win win situation. We will always have a space to come home to and they will have a home ( which is practically unachievable for young families these days). Too, we are making thoughtful renovations which will meet our aging needs in the future. We are having a junk removal company come and help us declutter three decades of accumulated stuff; and, like you, we are only keeping the most precious items that have a story. We want this home to be empty almost, so that they can fill it with their own things.
That is amazing ! My mom allowed her eldest daughter ( result of a rape during the War in Hungary ) Julie to take all of our possessions to her house in North Corona so we could pay rent before she lost it. My mother gave her 4 months rent up front. My mother was never taken to the house. She dropped me off during the summer of 8th grade to clewn one acre of horse crap, sticker bushes, rotten trees and garbage. Child services came to get me 5 months later after DISTANT NEIGHBORS filed a report of an "emasculated child seen rummaging in the garbage cans." The house had NO ELECTRRICITY, and the water was shut off 3 weeks after she dropped me off to clean the house prior to bringing my mother there as well. She evidently had a disagreement with her husband and " forgot to fetch my mom " as my sister had used my moms car to take me there in the middle of the desert. My poor HARD WORKING mother who worked 6 to 7 days a week cleaning houses to raise the eight children on her own became homeless and I lost touch with her for 4 years. Everything we owned including at least $50,000 in plants and 100,000 in collector items furniture and one of a kind paintings including my mother's brand new Lincoln was all left at the house in Norco so basically I have zero anything from my childhood except for a few photos that my other sister Eva had which ended up with her daughter Christine who gave me a few of them. So I hope your daughter and son-in-law appreciate you and your husband affording them a place to live. My father's 10 million dollar mansion in Brussels was somehow given to the woman that murdered him even though I have several different Wheels where everything including the summer house was willed to me. Somehow the Indian woman who poisoned him ended up with 500 million dollars in possessions so his six children got nothing. 😢
@@elizabethwatson8063 Just seeing this comment. I hope it’s all going well for you and your family. Very creative and insightful to leave your home to the young family- I’m sure they will treasure it and their time there always. Very admirable! Thanks for sharing. Also, we full time in our RV 5th wheel and absolutely love it!
Simplifying your life and streamlining your possessions helps older ppl stay independent longer. I wish more ppl in their mid 70's or older would realize that.
Perfect. I am 63. Buying a two family with older son. But I would do this if we had to share a house. Older people enjoy solitude and are not lonely, if they have lived a full life. You did a great job ..
This little video says all anyone needs to know about living life as your authentic self: being who she is, no pretention, just getting on with what needs to be done for living her best life on any day
I think its not just the downsizing, but when you’ve experienced a lot and got through life’s challenges, you start to realize the sensible way to live and stay present and purposeful is not in the abundance of things but the abundance of living, I thank God🎉 And all that running around worried about things when you won’t be taking it with you is what causes insanity.
You're a cutie! Your enthusiasm is contagious! Long ago as a single mom, I bought a small 2 bdrm house, and gave my two kids each a bedroom. We had library nook in the living room with book shelves and 3 lovely windows that I wanted for MY room. A twin bed, nightstand and every book I owned on those shelves was such a joy! Today I am 71 and live in an 8x16 tiny house on my daughter and son-in-law's place in the country. Small spaces are what dreams are made of, and I so enjoy your story!
I love it! I have a similar situation. I made the master into a self sufficient room and my daughter and granddaughter live in their own areas. At one time there were 4 generations living here as I took care of my mom for several years. It works out great for us all! When I’m in my van on the road, no worries, the house isn’t left alone! ❤️
hi Deb!! yes, I can see how that arrangement works well for you because it works really well over here!! I go for very long periods of time and my son is in charge and handles everything like a champ!! Lulu
At age 72, I just recently moved into a 227 sq ft studio stand-alone tiny house. What makes the space special for me (I'm 6'5" tall) is the open roofline ceiling with beautiful Douglas Fir beams. My setup is very similar toLulu's, except my kitchenette is along one long wall. After many years living with partners and roommates, in big suburban homes, I'm loving the compact and minimal space...AND the solitude. Blissful...!
hello James!! your space sound lovely!! and I hear ya . . . I never lived alone (and I guess I still don't), but it feels like I do in this room!! I love the solitude too!! thanks so much for writing!! 😊
I’m right in the middle of planning to build a granny flat at the rear of my home, my family members will live in the main house and I’ll have my own space in the back garden. Win/win as I age and family get to live in a house - economy for me and them. Looking forward to my next chapter of semi retired plus part time work, and I’m so excited to create my little oasis.
You just gave me a great idea. I've always worried about how I would support myself if something happened to my husband. I have a garage that we made into a bedroom. I could convert it into either something for myself or a studio apartment rental. So glad to see a retired woman thriving and loving her life. Congratulations!
How very interesting. I love that you have so many things that you * just love””. I too love my things. Your attitude and creativity are inspirational. My “so called” friends found it necessary to criticize my stuff instead of appreciating it the way I do. This video validates my quirkiness and my “love” of things. I have too much stuff , but I truly thank you for the joy you find in your creations as well as your stuff. Critical people are hurtful. You , on the other hand , are nurturing. Thank you so much. I feel like the Velvetine rabbit . Even though it was tattered from being loved., I , on the other hand feel tattered from close friends who felt the need to make me feel less than . Thanks for showing me that loving your very unusual stuff is nothing to be ashamed of, but rather, as I see it, it’s a gift. I really felt bad about this. But now I feel much better. You are proud of yourself as I was before I was brutally criticized for being me. Thanks again❤
Just goes to show we really don't need much space to live a full life. You have such a great flare for life and very creative. I'm 74 and live in an 800 square ft home but full of clutter. I'm trying to get rid of stuff and hope to make my abode as cute as yours.
I too live in a small space. My daughters pool house. One room plus bathroom. I love it. Grandchildren and daughter in the big house. Works out perfect. Thanks for your tour.
It's crazy because your master bedroom is larger and better appointed than my actual studio apartment. I just love it. And your spirit is absolutely enchanting! You are now my new best friend in my head, lol. New subscriber.
Hi Lulu, thank you for this encouraging video. I am in the process of downsizing my bedroom to be functional. I am in my 60's and retired too. Thank you for the wonderful ideas that I am working on to make my apartment simplified. You are sweet! I am grateful for your kind heart.
YOU are adorable, Lulu! What a great job you have done for the beautiful life you have. I came upon you and now I’m a new subscriber! You are living your best life. I love it all but the photo of you as a child is just the best! xo
Lulu! Your channel popped up and you're either a genius or I lead a very sheltered life. I have been looking for ways to minimize my living space without selling my home. I absolutely love what you have done and that everything has a purpose and a story. I have been retired since 2019. working breeds stress and clutter. My space is way too big and I'm exhausted by donating and restructuring. This video helps me focus. My husband (we lost him in 2020) was from Boston and I adore your New England accent. Your video gives me lots to think about and you are truly inspiring. Thank you and continued good fortune.
Thank you for being a good example of what, love, kindness, humility, resourcefulness and family unity looks like. The best part is you did not forget to take care of yourself while you love and care for others. I loved this video!
If I might be so bold to speculate it would be that you feel much more content & cozy in your creative, very well organized & aesthetically pleasing “ little house” than at this stage in life you would feel if you had your entire house to yourself. So many in our age group are overwhelmed & frustrated with ALL their stuff & space of which they have little use for & are no longer motivated to dust & clean & keep sparkling. Kudos to you for having it all .... enjoyable & manageable living space, financial security, family nearby , outlets for travel & fun & the list continues ... you did it !!! 😄. Be Well & Stay Safe
Right now I have a little trouble cleaning. Dust gives me an allergy reaction, so I have to take meds and wear a mask when I dust. Sweeping the hardwood floors creates the same issue and adds back pain to the total. I’m able to drive safely and would love to travel in my minivan, but haven’t successfully done it yet. Keeping the house is a problem for me, but hubs likes it. Though he’s having trouble mowing the grass this year. We’re both too old for the upkeep. 😊
hi Marty!! thanks for your note!! yes, I prefer small space living, I don't want to live in a big house anymore. I have no clutter and very minimal things all throughout the house. but I do love my street and neighborhood and my location. and I do love my 2-car garage for my van and my workshop. so it's all working out perfectly!! I'm fortunate and I'm grateful!! I'm glad you are here, Marty! Lulu
This is lovely, in Germany we’re have “more generation” houses but I feel it would be good for the environment if more people did it plus people living alone or older people always have someone to call on if help is needed, good on you nice lady😊
I love your master bedroom studio apartment! I will be getting ready for retirement in the next few years and am looking for ideas on ways to live affordably! Thank you for sharing this!
Love this! I found this video because I’m taking care of aging parents, moved them in with me some years ago but got married last year and was thinking of converting my master bedroom into a studio apartment for more privacy. You proved to me that it works.
I totally agree. I have definitely been seeing in my neighborhood more....generational living. I see it as a good thing. Four generations are in my household and I love it.
What a perfect set up. You get to be close to family but still maintain your privacy and you get to travel when you want and they can watch your home. I am 62 years old and just started taking tap last year. I've never taken dance in my life. I love it!
hi JD!! yes, it's a win/win for all of us in this household, in all ways!!! I'm so grateful!! and look at you, tapping at 62!! we're never too old to start anything!!! YAY, so happy to hear you love it! I mean, what's not to love? keep tapping! Lulu
"I don't do normal, I do functional."👍🏼 Put it on a T shirt 👕 The plants make the whole living room 🪴 🌿 gorgeous. I miss having a recliner in our full-time RV life... I also miss my bathtub. Your space is 💯% awesome, and functional!
At 74 I've down sized to a very small one bedroom appt. I love it!I ESPECIALLY LOVE what you've done and how excited you are about it. I love your choices and positivity. How smart you are to have figured out a perfect place for everything you care about and enjoy most. Having family close is wonderful but as good as it is not having them in all your business all the time is great, too. I congratulate you!
@@dawncrossland3028 rural area. Very small town with farmland around. They are inexpensive so you could try it. If it doesn’t work save your box and your receipt. Most places let you take it back.
I enjoyed your tour. It reminds me of when we brought mom to live with us her last 15 yrs before she passed away. We made the master bedroom into her suite with her recliner and bed. She had her own bathroom. She didn’t have a kitchen as I cooked her meals and she would eat with the family. She enjoyed her space very much. She picked out all her favorite things and downsized quite happily and comfortably. Thanks for sharing with us!
hello Oly! thanks for sharing the story about your mom and how this kind of design worked out so well for her. I picture her in her space with all her favorite things, happy and comfortable. how nice you provided that for her. thanks for making me smile! Lulu
Lovely💗I did almost the same thing, after my husband past during the pandemic, my son and daughter in law moved in with me. I took the large living room, separated it with 7 ft cubby shelves, had a small living area, and a small bedroom area. The large closet turned into my kitchen, and the bathroom was on the other side, blocked a few walls and I’m good. They have 2 bedrooms, the family room and the kitchen, bathroom is in the master they have. I have my front door as my private entrance , they have sliding doors that go out to a deck and stairs. I’m very content and my kids are as well. Thanks for sharing⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌻
“Boogey on down” girl you are killin’ it! I am in the same position, and have never felt more free! Getting rid of the stuff and living in my Grannie unit is a gift! Going part time in my Honda Element this September! Live Love Laugh❤
Lulu, I am so jealous! I would give my right arm for a set up like yours. Just perfect for one person. You put so much thought and work into your darling little studio apartment. I too like my privacy and could live quite comfortably in that space. I live with my son and he has a little set up like yours. He has the master bedroom and bath and he added a little fridge and microwave. He is quite content and loves his privacy too. I have the other bedroom and bath with everything set up like I like. I have a the kitchen because I cook. He rarely goes in there. I make food for both of us and leave it out for him and he eats when he wants. We have separate lives, but also share time together when we want. Life is great!
Hello, Lulu! I loved your tiny house. It looks very cozy. The most important thing is that you are happy, that's what matters. I live in Brazil and I told my friends about you. They thought it was amazing that you are happy with so little. This is a beautiful lesson for all of us.♥Nice to meet you.
Nice...this room is bigger than many studio apartments in Seoul, S. Korea or Tokyo, Japan! You have laid it out very well, too! That is great that you are helping your family, too and having them close...in these crazy and very expensive times!
I've done the same thing you did! I'm so excited to see someone who has turned a master bedroom and bath into an efficiency apartment. It's a wonderful way to live, isn't it? I just love it, too!! Thank you so much for sharing your creation, it's such a wonderful way to live, it really is!
MAHVELOUS DAHLING!!! I’ve lived in my family home for 64 years now, moved here when I was 10. It’s 4,000+ sq. ft, 14 rooms. We’ve raised 9 kids here. Now that we are empty nesters this repurposing is a brilliant idea. We have 24 grandchildren so there’s space for live-ins. I’m a garage-sale junky and my house is eclectic like yours. Kindred spirits!!!! Wish we were in the same neighborhood, I’d love to shop with you ❤😊
Lulu you're a brilliant lady! What a fantastic idea to create a studio apartment in your house just for you and your kitty. It's a win,win for you and your family.
thanks Barbara! the kitty sorta owns the entire house, she lets us all live here!! LOL fortunately, everybody else in the house loves her as much as I do!! Lulu
My adult son and my 4 year old grandson live with me and I've noticed that I spend a lot of time in my room to allow them use of the rest if the house. It just works well for us. Love little Lulu! You are adorable! Your space is lovely, comfortable and perfect!
hi Marianne!! I've noticed that these folks here enjoy it when I come out!! so that's good!! but when I feel like being alone, I want it to happen!! lol thanks for your note! Lulu
Love it!! ❤ you are so right about downsizing and having your own space but with a sense of community - it’s the Swedish way. Mixing the generations. Lovely space ❤
It's the way it works around the world except America but the economy, covid is forcing them to live this way..maybe they will learn something...I see a positive in it😊
I love your apartment! How nice it is to be close to your family, but yet you have your own space. I love the fold out chair idea for when friends come to visit you! What a wonderful, inviting, cozy place that you've created!
I enjoyed every moment of your video. I felt like I was a guest in your home. You are absolutely delightful! Your home is very well thought out and comfortable. Thank you for your ideas and inspiration in creating a beautiful space.
Your set-up is great! We went from 4 people in our home to 11 people in our home. We welcomed my mother-in-law after she had surgery and my daughter, son-in-law and 4 grandkids who moved from out of state. Very happy that we have room for everyone. Currently, slowly, turning our master bedroom into a studio apartment. So far we have an office, frig, coffee maker, snack center and exercise spot.
You have an interior designer's eye and have created such a gorgeous home! The way you mix all those thrift store finds together is amazing. Thanks for the tour! 👍
What a great space Lulu! That way you don’t have to clean the rest of the house! Brilliant! Also, this reminds me of how we converted our master suite to a mother in law’s space. It had its own private sliding door access to the back yard. Enjoy your Saturday and thanks for sharing!
hi Debra!! thanks for your note!! I do a lot with the rest of house, I redecorate, fix things, it's loaded with more of my plants, I replenish supplies, I keep it functioning well (it's my house!!), but each of them are assigned specific responsibilities for cleaning so it always stays clean. it works!! Lulu
I wish I could turn my spare bedroom into a studio apartment like this. But it would be over the septic if I built out and it’s too small otherwise. I turned my whole upstairs into an apartment and have a great roommate and would like another so I could possibly retire some day. My requirements are separate living space and bathrooms. My town doesn’t allow tiny houses. I would’ve put one in my yard as a rental.
This is perfect. My oldest daughter bought a 2 BR home a couple of years ago, and the previous owners had built a 'workshop' in the side yard. It has a half bath, air conditioner, and tons of shelves. I lived in it for a couple of years, and have been encouraging her to add a shower and small kitchen area, then live in it and rent out her house. The rent would be almost double her house payment.
Greetings from Australia! I could listen to Lulu for hours and what an amazing outlook on life and what works for her and that figure from dancing is outstanding 🥰
Wow, this was really good !!! The camera angles were good and you could see every nook and corner . Your personality comes through loud and clear, and I love your energy 💕 This was well done and it gave me some ideas for my own rooms, thanks 👍
My mom and dad had something similar in my sisters home and they loved it. What a great idea, Lulu. It is so important to have your own space to relax and recharge. I love it!!😊
Love this woman’s positive energy and zest for life, especially at her age. Lovely studio conversion. I would still get rid of the clutter. Great little space, and wishing her well😊
Great video. I recently divorced and moved to a tiny home. I found it really hard to get used to, but love it now. I love seeing how others decorate their small space and how they incorporate their pets into it. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Lulu, I am a 57 year old woman who knows I need to make some discipline changes in my life - specifically food and exercise changes. When you talked about your rebounder it caused me to go down a google rabbit hole on the lymphatic system. I just wanted to thank you for showing us your home set up, so that I could receive the message of the lymphatic movement, and learn about its importance. I love your place and watching your channel.
hi Shannon!! hoping that you are blessed with the drive and motivation and determination to make those discipline changes and change the way you live and feel. I'm so happy you are enjoying my channel. and I'm glad you are here! Lulu
You don’t know how many of us woman need hope for many past situations. Thank you thank you from the bottom of my ❤ you give me hope and independence ❤❤❤❤
I live in a community space where everything is shared (the refrigerator, - TOO many things. I love that you very creatively created your own, special place.
You have made the coolest tiny home for yourself in a bigger home that some of your family can live in. And you don't have to clean a big house or mow a yard you can travel and dance and do it Lulus way, thank you for sharing all that you do it is inspiring. LUV
hi Leona!! thanks!! although I have them all assigned tasks in the house so that it all stays clean, I maintain and decorate and upkeep the entire house. I have loads of plants throughout the house that I take care of. I fix things when they break. I am still totally engaged with the space on the other side of my door, it's my home, it's my investment, but I "live" in this room, my tiny home portion! it all works so well!! Lulu
This is a beautiful space!! I just love that you have 2 windows! what a treat. You get so much natural light. You have everything you need.Such a great organized kitchen too. I would guess it's larger than some studio units in NYC and way cheaper. :) Another bonus is that when you are gone over Winter you don't leave your home empty. I think it's great that you have a home base. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. :) (Kim)
hi Kim!! yes, when I leave for months at a time, they all take care of things while I'm gone, taking mail in, taking pictures of my mail and texting it to me, trash and recycle, take care of the cat, they call me with anything that comes up, it's truly a win/win situation for all of us!! Lulu
What a beautiful use of space. I am 75 years old and I am in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo and it is beginning to be more than I need. I think I am about ready for an efficient apt.
What a beautiful, functional space! Lots of great tips here. Love your energy and joie de vivre Thank you for sharing. If you really wanted to hide the exercise room you could use a curtain installed from above or a room divider! And a little duvet cover for the bedspread will help your comforter last longer and keep it free from cat fur and dust. Also they make grow light bulbs for plants that go in regular lamps. That can help in the winter time for the darker corners. Thanks again for sharing! ✨
I'm a handicapped person and I live almost like this. A friend rents me a room on his house and I converted it into a studio apartment / home office with everything but the bathroom. Have my bed, my desktop computer, my kitchen (fridge, air fryer, hot pot, Keurig machine), and my big tv. Always looking for ideas and that's how I found this video and love it. Thanks for sharing.
Love this setup! You have your own private place and your kids next door! And sounds like your kids love having you close. So cheerful and well organized! Happy Easter!
I had a disastrous course of cancer treatment and was all but bedridden. My entire life was centered in my bedroom and the bathroom across the hall. Thankfully it is a much smaller space than the master. That would have been impossible. As I laid there I figured out a super (& I do mean super) efficient studio. I made do with a tiny, tiny 6 pack size mini fridge, carefully planned "meals" that would generate little to no trash, no leftovers and a cooler for lots of water. With a slight change of furniture lay out, maybe a change to a twin bed and an integrated kitchenette, I will be set if I ever get that sick again. I think I will do this in the master though. I have a plan in place for mobility issues if ever. 😊
I absolutely love your studio apartment. Everything is so functional and pretty (and extremely neat too)! You thought everything through well! Well done. Just show you how many options we actually have of alternative living. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the tour of your cozy bedroom studio. I enjoyed it. Things we felt were necessary when we were younger we now find were never a necessity. Blessings!🙏
This was such a pleasure to watch and to listen to. I love your accent and your positivity comes out in your tone! You have done a tremendous “renovation” without all the aggravation! I miss having family nearby and can so relate to that benefit. You are such a motivating presenter. Keep enjoying life AND KEEP DANCING! It’s so good for the soul ❤ Thank you for this inspiration.
This is so smart! I love the idea of turning your room into your own small apparemment!! I am a high school student, going into university next year and as much as I would like to move out of my parent’s house it’s just not realistic for me at the moment. However my room is quite large so turning it into a little studio doesn’t seem impossible! This way I could gain independence and privacy without moving out. You are a genius thank you for posting this!
hello Charlotte!! you are wise young woman!! smart choice. and this transformation does not have to cost you a lot of money. go to thrift stores and find some interesting things, even kitchen appliances there. all you really need it a toaster oven, a tea kettle, and maybe a hot plate!! ENJOY!! 💕
hi Dorothy!! what made decorating fun and interesting for me, was when I stopped being all matchy-matchy. I didn't like that rule because if I loved something but it was the wrong color or the wrong shade of blue or whatever, then I wouldn't get it. now, I have no limit because I have no color scheme. it's just filled with things that make me smile!! Lulu
I had a problem with birds hitting our patio sliding glass door and so I installed bead curtains. Not only do they have vertically strung bamboo tubes,I saw some small bamboo tubes cut into a couple inch pieces of random different lengths, and strung with the pieces horizontally stacked and strung with holes drilled in the middle of the tube. They were in a catalogue, and we moved before I could order any,but they were really cool and had charm.Plastic is toxic, and tacky, and should be banned. The claim is now we are consuming a credit card's size of plastic into our bodies every week, with micro plastics in all the water, with synthetic and polyester clothing as one source;and PFAs in the water, even from take out containers and pizza boxes(teflon, forever chemicals),and even found in the Himalayas, microplastics in fetuses in the womb.Pthalates,BPA, and estrogen mimicking compounds in plastic are all damaging to our health;and like the canary in the coal mine, many wild and domesticated animals are smaller than us and even more susceptible. Pharmaceutical companies are required by the FDA to test their products for the levels of plastic that their products contain, because it moves into the products from their containers, and there are legally established limits that can not be exceeded. The Toxin Solution by Dr Pizzarno is one source of info, and Duke University Med.Center mailed out info in it's regular publication to Duham,N.C.residents.Some plastic has always been known to be migratory -it moves into the water with contact. The Weather Channel internet had a video that said Florida's Red Fish have been tested, and they are full of heart medication and opiods. If you love animals, and not eating poison;see about an outhouse, and a potty chair.
I enjoyed your tour of your space. I sold my house and moved in with my sister. We were very close, think its called Irish twins. Both born in November. For two weeks we would both be 80 for example she still played tennis. We found out she had a brain tumor around the time of the pandemic. A few weeks later she was gone. My daughter brought me to Alabama to live with her family. Its a nice big room furnished. I have juncked it up so that I can hardly move. I've got to get rid of stuff which is hard for me to do. I will be 86 in November. I do have my coffee pot in my room. I have a electric tea pot for heating water. Anything else I have to go downstairs. I have so much medicine and its all over the place. I am very disorganized. I really enjoyed your tour and I love your treasures.
Love all your decorating and organizing. You're a genius. 🤠 Have you ever thought about using all your wisdom and creativity to help make tiny spaces for the homeless?
OMG I found your channel today. And it was your camper van. You are so smart I have never seen a van build that was this nice, kudos to you. I will keep watching.
What a funky, cool, unique woman! I so admire her quirky, yet funtional style. I bet she is fun to be around. ❤
My thoughts exactly!
She is so energetic and fun. She has such a youthful aura. She's the kind of person who probably has lots of younger friends. Old people could not keep up with her! 😂
Exactly. I bet she was a cool mom.
❤ I love her style, too! ❤
lovely energy and living in gratitude... what a beautiful soul
Best line of the video - “the fan is off and on all day due to the temperature fluctuations of a senior lady”. Hilarious! Well done with the cozy space. Admirable.
thanks Michelle!!
😅😅😅 I rewound that part three or four times because I wanted to memorize exactly how she said that! And it was quite difficult to do so because my hands are so sweaty in the patio room in this house in Las Vegas😅😅😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂I can relate
Boy do I relate to that and the beautiful scenery view she has outside her window.
Heat fluctuation due to age is hitting the nail on the head. The end table in your living room looks like a perfect place for snacks.
I turned my master bedroom in to a 400 square-foot studio and rent it out for $900 a mo. completely blocked off from the main house. It even has its own separate entrance. best idea ever!
SWEET!!! great idea!!
My apt is no morevthan 200sf with the bathroom and rent is that much. I get section 8 but this landlord makes a killing.
Love that ❤
Sounds like my dream studio 😉
Greed
I have a feeling more families are going to be doing this in the near future. What a great idea!
Yes. Or roomates. Unless you have a whole lot of money there will be no living alone anymore. Greed has taken over everything in this country
I love she is so independent!😊
I live really close to NYC and landlords Dont let people have roommates, they expect everyone to have lots of money.
Love it 💕
Nice memory.
hey Candy!! thanks for your note, it made me smile, what wonderful childhood memories with Grandma!! LOVELY!! Lulu
Ha ha, my daughter used to watch Law & Order in bed with me when she was little.
When my grands spend the night, they love getting into my bed, too. We watch Seventh Heaven reruns and eat snacks IN BED. rofl
My daughter tells me that her fun memories, of staying at grams, was the fact that rules were allowed to be broken. So she chuckles at watching her kids come here and breaking some rules.
No one has died from crumbs in a bed. 🤣🤣🤣
Making memories.
What a fantastic idea. You have your family if you need them and your own apartment., And you are helping your family because the cost of renting is ridiculous. It looks great Lulu x
yes!! the people that live with me are very grateful for such a sweet deal. Lulu
How great for everyone
@@LulusWay64 my grandparents partitioned a portion of their home and turned it into an apartment for lease. Later as the grandparents aged, one of their daughters and her husband, moved into the apartment and took care of my grandmother til her passing. Brilliant idea! Form, function, and finance are addressed. And it's a lot nicer than other studio apartments I've seen.

I wish you well.
your plan sounds wonderful!! enjoy creating your own special space to call your own!! 💕
I’m 70 and it makes me sad to this day…
Perfect ☺

We want this home to be empty almost, so that they can fill it with their own things.
hi Elizabeth!! thanks for sharing your story with me, it sounds like an exciting plan for all involved, enjoy the process!! Lulu
Simplifying your life and streamlining your possessions helps older ppl stay independent longer. I wish more ppl in their mid 70's or older would realize that.
I love this idea - Families need to support one another and stay together. Everything is so expensive - sharing a home is a great alternative.
Perfect. I am 63. Buying a two family with older son. But I would do this if we had to share a house. Older people enjoy solitude and are not lonely, if they have lived a full life. You did a great job ..

Great video, I'm 76, so now thinking about down sizing & do the same thing, so so nice. God Bless, & Be Happy!
I think its not just the downsizing, but when you’ve experienced a lot and got through life’s challenges, you start to realize the sensible way to live and stay present and purposeful is not in the abundance of things but the abundance of living, I thank God🎉 And all that running around worried about things when you won’t be taking it with you is what causes insanity.
well said!! no since worrying about anything anymore. it's just not worth it and it's insane!! 💕

"small spaces are what dreams are made of", well said, Hollie!!! thanks so much for writing, I'm happy you are here! Lulu 🌺

Lulu

I love your apartment! How nice it is to be close to your family, but yet you have your own space. I love the fold out chair idea for when friends come to visit you! What a wonderful, inviting, cozy place that you've created!
thanks Patricia!!
You’re adorable! Love the cozy set up!
thanks so much!! 💕
This woman is the hero we all need
I enjoyed every moment of your video. I felt like I was a guest in your home. You are absolutely delightful! Your home is very well thought out and comfortable. Thank you for your ideas and inspiration in creating a beautiful space.
thanks Gail, for your lovely note to me, I appreciate it!! so happy to know you enjoyed the video and I'm glad you are here! Lulu
I don’t know why it’s so interesting to just hear about a person’s living space but it is. This is such a cute, functional space.
thanks so much, Trista!! 😊
So far we have an office, frig, coffee maker, snack center and exercise spot.
it's so wonderful to house family yet maintain your own personal space. sounds like, so far, you are making it work for you!! YAY!!
You have an interior designer's eye and have created such a gorgeous home! The way you mix all those thrift store finds together is amazing. Thanks for the tour! 👍
thanks Melissa!!
What a great space Lulu! That way you don’t have to clean the rest of the house! Brilliant! Also, this reminds me of how we converted our master suite to a mother in law’s space. It had its own private sliding door access to the back yard. Enjoy your Saturday and thanks for sharing!
Love it!,, I understand perfectly❣️🥰👏👏👏👏👍🏻
hi Debra!! thanks for your note!!
I hope you know I was just joking lol
This is perfect. My oldest daughter bought a 2 BR home a couple of years ago, and the previous owners had built a 'workshop' in the side yard. It has a half bath, air conditioner, and tons of shelves. I lived in it for a couple of years, and have been encouraging her to add a shower and small kitchen area, then live in it and rent out her house. The rent would be almost double her house payment.
You seem to have created the best of both worlds; privacy when you want it, and people for company. How cleverly you’ve arraigned your room!
Greetings from Australia! I could listen to Lulu for hours and what an amazing outlook on life and what works for her and that figure from dancing is outstanding 🥰
thanks so much Dee, for your beautiful note to me!! I appreciate it!! so glad you are here! Lulu
Wow, this was really good !!! The camera angles were good and you could see every nook and corner . Your personality comes through loud and clear, and I love your energy 💕 This was well done and it gave me some ideas for my own rooms, thanks 👍
thanks Sheila!!
Great little space, and wishing her well😊
I'm so happy you enjoyed my video! nobody has ever referred to any of my living spaces as cluttered but we each see what we see!!! 😊
Great video. I recently divorced and moved to a tiny home. I found it really hard to get used to, but love it now. I love seeing how others decorate their small space and how they incorporate their pets into it. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Lulu, I love your private studio apartment in your bedroom. The picture of you when you were little is absolutely adorable, just like you are now!!!❤
Lulu loved your picture ! I too have an adorable picture of myself ... great idea to frame and put on my wall with items that are special to me!❤
What a great idea to make your own "studio" apartment right in your own house. Loved the window bed for your kitty. Good luck!
thanks Cee!!
Yes! It's a perfect idea! Yet, so is the entire arrangement. It's true that the only thing I'd miss is a bathtub even though I rarely use mine. ☮️💞🙏
I think she is great! Funny, smart and practical. I'm 80 and wish I could do something like that.
thank for your kind words, Chriss!!
Thank you thank you from the bottom of my ❤ you give me hope and independence ❤❤❤❤
thanks Aly, for your lovely note to me! Lulu
I live in a community space where everything is shared (the refrigerator, - TOO many things. I love that you very creatively created your own, special place.
You are such a spunky young lady! Your family is very lucky to have you!
Lulu
Lulu, your joy and gratefulness is contagious. Good going!
What a beautiful use of space. I am 75 years old and I am in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo and it is beginning to be more than I need. I think I am about ready for an efficient apt.
Your studio is fantastic! Your kitchen is so creative! Thank you for making your video and sharing your space. 😃
What a beautiful, functional space! Lots of great tips here. Love your energy and joie de vivre
Thank you for sharing. ✨
Your little studio is so lovely and I like that you considered the comfort of your cat too. Well done!
hi Beth, thanks for your nice note, I appreciate it!! Lulu
Thanks for sharing.
sounds like a great set up for you!! I hope you got some ideas for yourself!! 😊
Love this setup! You have your own private place and your kids next door! And sounds like your kids love having you close. So cheerful and well organized! Happy Easter!
hi Cheryl!! thanks for your note! I have two kids and one lives out of state. I have "family members" living with me . . . it's family!!!! Lulu
Lulu, I am so grateful that you decided to make videos and share your life. Thank you. And, yes you have the best of both worlds there.
hi Lo!! thanks for your nice note to me. I appreciate it!! yes, I have the best of both worlds and I am very grateful! Lulu
What an incredible space. You made really good use of your space and I love your living room area and your bedroom is spectacular.😊
thanks so much!!
Thank you for sharing.
hi Helana!! thanks for your nice note to me! I'm so happy that you enjoyed the tour!! thanks for being here! Lulu
It’s so good for the soul ❤ Thank you for this inspiration.
thanks Toni, for your lovely note! I appreciate it!! stay inspired!! Lulu
ENJOY!! 💕
You are the limit 😮 just how you can decorate and make it so cozy and you are so fun ❤
hi Dorothy!! what made decorating fun and interesting for me, was when I stopped being all matchy-matchy. I didn't like that rule because if I loved something but it was the wrong color or the wrong shade of blue or whatever, then I wouldn't get it. now, I have no limit because I have no color scheme. it's just filled with things that make me smile!! Lulu
Love it, especially the window decals because those will stop the birds from flying into your window! Great idea!
I really enjoyed your tour and I love your treasures.
thanks for writing, Melanie, and sharing your story with me! 😊
So clever and inspiring. Bravo and thank you for showing this!!!
Hi Lulu… I love your space!!!!! IT’s everything you need and nothing you don’t ❤❤❤❤ LoveIt!😊
Love all your decorating and organizing. You're a genius. 🤠
Have you ever thought about using all your wisdom and creativity to help make tiny spaces for the homeless?
OMG I found your channel today. And it was your camper van. You are so smart I have never seen a van build that was this nice, kudos to you. I will keep watching.
hello Carolyn!! thanks so much, I just love my campervan so much!! so happy you found my channel and that you'll keep watching! YAY!! 😊
Love your new apartment!! Everything you need and love and nothing you don't. Wonderful! Thx for the inspiration.
