I'd argue that Accelgor and Escavailer aren't impossible in the wild since a bunch of their Pokedex entries state that Karrablast's evolution was achieved by stealing Shelmet's shell and as a result of not having a shell, Shelmet adapted via evolving. I could see that happening in the wild as a normal thing and trading just achieves an artificial method of this phenomena.
12:24 actually, in the lore it's said that if an onix digs deep enough, the minerals that it's consumed start to compress and harden, turning it into a steelix. so it technically has a second wild-exclusive evolution method.

Actually, the anime shows Pokémon mentoring each other to teach them new moves. For example, May’s Skitty did not learn Blizzard by using a TM, it was taught by a more experienced Delcatty. Therefore, it’s possible that the wild Mamoswine are a result of wild Piloswine learning Ancient Power from other wild Pokémon
But it's funnier that a Dunsparce in some ancient time decided to get frisky with a Piloswine and ended up making a new species of Pokemon with its genes

You could also probably have the milcery get hit by a hurricane or any move from another wild pokemon that spins them quickly, but thats assuming the milcery doesn’t explicitly need to be in the pokeball to evolve (which I feel like the following pokemon mechanic in the DLC proves is the case)
i'm late to this video and someone's probably already mentioned this, but just in case... in the case of milotic, the prism scale doesn't outright replace the beauty evolution in later generations, it's just a second way to do it. you can transfer a beauty-maxed feebas from, say, RSE or DPPt up to later gens and levelling it up will still trigger its evolution, even if the game it's currently in doesn't have contests. thus, if we are assuming that a beauty evolution is possible in the wild in gens 3 and 4, we should assume the same for later games

Funfact for Galarian Yamask's evolution - Its actually somewhat lore related The stone that is stuck onto its body can have strange properties, sucking out the energy from the Yamask. When it is weakened enough (the 49 hp loss), it travels to the bridge to reclaim the rubbled remains of the stone painting, evolving fully into an attempt of piecing back its body - resulting in a Runegrigus.
I was about to write something similar. But I remembered that he theorized that there was something about the process of a physical trade that affected the biological composition of a Pokémon. So even still, that trade process didn’t take place.

My head canon (and it is partially backed up by DEX entries) is that Mammoswine was previously thought to be extinct until one with ancient power was revived. It’s pre-evos have been around for a while. However it had evolved to the point where it couldn’t turn into its final form anymore (i.e. the ones with ancient power died out). Once a researcher revived an old mammoswine, this one bred with its descendants. This one knew ancient power and was thus able to bring back the line to it’s original state.
Sorry im a butthole but... The scientist reviving the pokemon is effectively a trainer using outside influence and also doesn't explain how it got ancient power in order to evolve.

Pokemon stop learning certain moves to stop certain evolutions as shown in Legends Arceus so someone found a frozen Mammoswine and brought it back kinda like they do with fossil Pokemon. That Mammoswine probably had Ancient Power and was bred to pass down the evolution genes to bring back Mammoswine as a species. It’s also not improbable to think swinub’s or Piloswine’s learned Ancient power. In pokemon there’s a lot of pokemon teaching eachother different moves or moves it can learn by visual and practice.

I think the idea of the Ancient-Power- Evolutions, is that they are supposed to be ancient versions of those Pokémon who existed long ago in the wild, but do not anymore. Kinda like something between primal forms and fossil Pokémon. And a trainer teaching a Pokémon this move gives them the ability to return to that ancient form.

For Swinub, a possibility may be a released Mamoswine (or Piloswine with AncientPower) breeding with a wild Piloswine or Mamoswine to create a line of wild Swinub with AncientPower, that could become wild Mamoswine down the line. Convoluted, yes (especially since you do not see wild Swinub or Piloswine with AncientPower), but not implausible.
Well, it could be possible for a member of the Swinub line to breed with a Dunsparce or Kecleon in the wild, both of which are able to learn Ancient Power through Level up.
There is one another trade evolution possible in wild. That is shelmet and karrablast . Theory is when they are traded karrablast will try to hunt shelmet. The shelmet leaves it's shell to escape. And karrablast will use the shell and become escavalier. Which is possible in wild as shelmet is natural prey of karrablast.
Wasn’t it also shown and said that they need to be bathed in electricity together to evolve. Maybe that’s how trade evolutions evolve in the wild. Some strange electric current.
Also for the creme Pokémon at the end: It gets a sweet and then sits on a wild Hitmantops foot while it spins. Or it could go into a whirlpool in the water. Or a tornado on land. It could also have a wild bird Pokémon use hurricane on it. Not sure it could survive that one…
There’s a scene in the anime where a Milcery finds a sweet, holds it, gets excited & spins around, & then evolves into Alcremie It was trainer-owned but its trainer wasn’t even in the room at the time so a wild Milcery could do the same if it found a sweet
I've always thought of Trade Evolutions as pokemon that need a LOT of excess energy to evolve, which trainers could easily achieve through the trade machine but is generally harder to come by in the wild. The idea of there being mysterious energy sources has been a thing since Gen 6 with Infinity Energy (or as early as Gen 5 if you count the Victini movies), so the fact so many Trade Evolutions can be found in SWSH, where there's Dynamax energy pouring out all over the place, makes sense to me.
The thing about Pokémon seeking out an evolution stone was also shown in one of the Sun and Moon anime episodes, where an Alolan Sandshrew evolves into Alolan Sandslash after finding an Ice Stone. I remember this because I think Lillie obtains an Ice Stone in that episode as well, to be used on her Alolan Vulpix Snowy sometime down the road. I think Max Raid Dens are almost like a separate dimension, which may be why so many impossible Pokémon appear in them.

Something that infuriated me with journeys is when Goh's Scyther evolves. Wikstrom evolves his Scyther by giving it a metal coat, and just putting the ball in a machine and just transfers it and takes it out. Why can't us gamers do that? Why do we need friends, something most of us don't have.
Trade theory: could be that it's an emotional thing of losing a loved one without it being that pokemons choice. So if a pokemon has a strong relationship with anything and feels a loss due to death, Betrayal, any outside influence that causes a seemingly permanent loss if that relationship would cause it to feel permanently distanced from that object of its affection. The same would be said with a trade. So if it's an emotional change from trading that would make them possible wild pokemon.
I can't remember where but I remember there being an npc in xy who states some Pokémon that evolve by trading evolve due to the stimulations of electricity (implying the trade machine's electricity somehow artificially stimulates a Pokémon's genes). So it could actually be a case where at least some evolutions like machamp or gengar have a natural evolution method, but its so narrow or situational that trainers generally can't recreate them, but the trade machine artificially simulates. Steelix is likely a good example of this, since from gen IV onward wild steelix became a fairly common thing, because looking at the in-game history, it didn't become possible to evolve a trainer's onix into a steelix until the invention of the Metal Coat, a metallic paste that has to be applied to the onix's body (via item description) before trading to evolve it. It could totally be the case that the specific minerals in the metallic coat exist naturally but in rare or limited quantities, hence why gen I kantonian trainers were unable to have access.
I know this just a joke that is not supposed to be taken seriously, but if someone is trying to breed a Perfect IV Gengar shouldn't they be releasing a bunch of Gastlys, not Gengars?

I was going to make that same point, it feels like trading is just the only way the game has to force them to interact with each other that way, but in the wild it probably happens fairly often since they live in the same biome
The same can be said for slowking and the clam park line as we see in the anime how they evolve in the wild but because of game restrictions they can’t reproduce it
I always thought that trade evolutions had some sort of alternative that would be impossible for trainers to do, like how onix can evolve into steelix in the wild if they eat enough iron near the Earth's core. Plus in the keldeo movie ash's boldor evolved into a gigilith with fighting a cryoginal so I don't think it would be a stretch
I heard the pancham evolution method and thought, “what? I evolved mine in sword and didn’t have a dark type on my team.” I spent an hour looking up every dark type to see what I had on my team, turns out I did have a thievul named Swiper
Interestingly, pretty much all the aquatic trade evolutions mention they live deep at the bottom of bodies of water. Milotic at lake bottoms, Kingdra on seafloors, Huntail and Gorebyss obviously at the deepest depths of the ocean, and they all need to hold scales of some sort (Huntail needs a tooth but whatever, needs to differentiate from Gorebyss....) Maybe it actually has something to do with water pressure along with enhanced scales. This would also correlate to Steelix being noted as evolving from Onix under extreme pressure deep underground. Perhaps trading involves compression that simulates this? Also trading between games is canonically trading between alternate realities, or other worlds, which Dusknoir is noted as being able to travel between, so there might be something there.
I think Milcery being spun is more of being shaken and stirred. That could definitely happen in the wild if they take a fall, get thrown around, or breakdance while holding a sweet.
I always perceived trade evolution to be caused by the trauma of losing their trainer, especially the ones that also require an item like steelix. it misses you so much it fuses with the last thing you gave it
I dont know about that. I mean if you look at Shelmet and Karrablast evolving by trade, Karrablast literally takes Shelmets armor when it evolves. I doubt it has to do with trauma. And that's very sad ;-;

I always thought the trade pokemon is that humans don't know how they evolve but the trading method just happens to trigger the conditions. And since that's easier noone tries to research the natural way.
Or someone like professor oak invented the trade machines after studying specific pokemon and learning how to evolve them. Essentially giving future trainers a shortcut.
Plot Twist : the pokemon that are finding there items in the wild are stealing pokeballs that are on routes left for the player. One more plot twist : as their stealing they are auditioning for grunty boi's role but they end up stealing NPC's item like grunty boi end up stealing wrong things.
In the time before "TM" existed there was a male Dunsparce which was banished by his clan. Dunsparce traveled for years learn many moves Including "Ancient Power". Once Wild Dunsparce traveled into the land of Unova Where he met traveling Fire type pokemon buliing wild Swinub, He deafeted Fire pokémon with his Rock and Ground type moves. Swinub bring Dunsparce into her clan hideout and then celebrate for three day and three nights until an egg apeared. Piloswine the father of famele swinub banished Dunsparce for this action but the egg was allowed to remain. some time pasted and egg hached into powerfull swinub wich evolve into Piloswine and he lived happy life. But The fire pokémon came back Piloswine was only one who stand at least chance becouse only thing his father left him was his egg move "Ancient Power" during battle piwosine find some unique feeling and evolve into first Mamoswine, with this new find power He won the battle and had three son wich one traveled into the land of Galar. Actually on the whole Mamoswine thing... Game Freak has stated that the "Knowing 4 moves thing is a game mechanic" Which means that Piloswine likely already knows Ancient Power especially if you play legends arceus which essentially shows that all the moves learned at level 1 are known to the pokemon but the trainer has to decide what it knows. And the move relearner is likely just teaching the trainer how to get the pokemon to use said move. Also legends arceus made it so most trade evolutions and trade item evolutions can be done with just an item... so... yeah that gets rid of all of those as well. Isn't it great when a new game comes around and makes old ideas irrelevant?

My head-cannon with regards to trade evos is that there are specific conditions in specific locations in the wild which can emulate the biological altering in the trade evolutions, in fact it would make more sense in reverse for pokescientists to build these functions into the trade machines to make those harder very specific evolutions easier for trainers. I'm no Prof Rowan, but that would be cool
Imagine Seadra having to migrate to a very specific location in very deep parts of the ocean to evolve. I'd defs use a scale from the department store and a machine at a pokemon centre instead.
My head canon is that Trade Evolution Pokémon need to learn a wide range of different skills from different teachers in order to evolve, so trading is how we as trainers can achieve that in-game, but in the wild, they can also do this by following different Pokémon around and observing them. ❤

For Alcremie I think it might be possible given the toon logic in the pokemon world. It would pick up some strawberries to eat and then suddenly a big pokemon stampedes past it, causing it to spin out and then evolve.
I would like to say that slowking is not that impossible, as we saw one evolve in the anime. Just needed to put the rock on its head and a shelder would bite it, causing it to evolve. This is probably how it works in the wild.

in the case of milotic, the prism scale doesn't outright replace the beauty evolution in later generations, it's just a second way to do it. you can transfer a beauty-maxed feebas from, say, RSE or DPPt up to later gens and levelling it up will still trigger its evolution, even if the game it's currently in doesn't have contests. thus, if we are assuming that a beauty evolution is possible in the wild in gens 3 and 4, we should assume the same for later games

My head canon (and it is partially backed up by DEX entries) is that Mammoswine was previously thought to be extinct until one with ancient power was revived. It’s pre-evos have been around for a while. However it had evolved to the point where it couldn’t turn into its final form anymore (i.e. the ones with ancient power died out). Once a researcher revived an old mammoswine, this one bred with its descendants. This one knew ancient power and was thus able to bring back the line to it’s original state.

Pokemon stop learning certain moves to stop certain evolutions as shown in Legends Arceus so someone found a frozen Mammoswine and brought it back kinda like they do with fossil Pokemon. That Mammoswine probably had Ancient Power and was bred to pass down the evolution genes to bring back Mammoswine as a species. I think the idea of the Ancient-Power- Evolutions, is that they are supposed to be ancient versions of those Pokémon who existed long ago in the wild, but do not anymore. Kinda like something between primal forms and fossil Pokémon. And a trainer teaching a Pokémon this move gives them the ability to return to that ancient form.

Wasn’t it also shown and said that they need to be bathed in electricity together to evolve. Maybe that’s how trade evolutions evolve in the wild. Some strange electric current.

I've always thought of Trade Evolutions as pokemon that need a LOT of excess energy to evolve, which trainers could easily achieve through the trade machine but is generally harder to come by in the wild. The idea of there being mysterious energy sources has been a thing since Gen 6 with Infinity Energy (or as early as Gen 5 if you count the Victini movies), so the fact so many Trade Evolutions can be found in SWSH, where there's Dynamax energy pouring out all over the place, makes sense to me.

The thing about Pokémon seeking out an evolution stone was also shown in one of the Sun and Moon anime episodes, where an Alolan Sandshrew evolves into Alolan Sandslash after finding an Ice Stone. I remember this because I think Lillie obtains an Ice Stone in that episode as well, to be used on her Alolan Vulpix Snowy sometime down the road.
I think Max Raid Dens are almost like a separate dimension, which may be why so many impossible Pokémon appear in them.

Something that infuriated me with journeys is when Goh's Scyther evolves. Wikstrom evolves his Scyther by giving it a metal coat, and just putting the ball in a machine and just transfers it and takes it out. Why can't us gamers do that? Why do we need friends, something most of us don't have.
Back in the Days of Gen 4 GTS we actually could get Trade Evolutions like that using the GTS then cancelling the trade.
Trade theory: could be that it's an emotional thing of losing a loved one without it being that pokemons choice. So if a pokemon has a strong relationship with anything and feels a loss due to death, Betrayal, any outside influence that causes a seemingly permanent loss if that relationship would cause it to feel permanently distanced from that object of its affection. The same would be said with a trade. So if it's an emotional change from trading that would make them possible wild pokemon.

I can't remember where but I remember there being an npc in xy who states some Pokémon that evolve by trading evolve due to the stimulations of electricity (implying the trade machine's electricity somehow artificially stimulates a Pokémon's genes). So it could actually be a case where at least some evolutions like machamp or gengar have a natural evolution method, but its so narrow or situational that trainers generally can't recreate them, but the trade machine artificially simulates.
Steelix is likely a good example of this, since from gen IV onward wild steelix became a fairly common thing, because looking at the in-game history, it didn't become possible to evolve a trainer's onix into a steelix until the invention of the Metal Coat, a metallic paste that has to be applied to the onix's body (via item description) before trading to evolve it. It could totally be the case that the specific minerals in the metallic coat exist naturally but in rare or limited quantities, hence why gen I kantonian trainers were unable to have access.

Interestingly, pretty much all the aquatic trade evolutions mention they live deep at the bottom of bodies of water. Milotic at lake bottoms, Kingdra on seafloors, Huntail and Gorebyss obviously at the deepest depths of the ocean, and they all need to hold scales of some sort (Huntail needs a tooth but whatever, needs to differentiate from Gorebyss....) Maybe it actually has something to do with water pressure along with enhanced scales. This would also correlate to Steelix being noted as evolving from Onix under extreme pressure deep underground. Perhaps trading involves compression that simulates this?
Also trading between games is canonically trading between alternate realities, or other worlds, which Dusknoir is noted as being able to travel between, so there might be something there.
I think Milcery being spun is more of being shaken and stirred. That could definitely happen in the wild if they take a fall, get thrown around, or breakdance while holding a sweet.

I always thought the trade pokemon is that humans don't know how they evolve but the trading method just happens to trigger the conditions. And since that's easier noone tries to research the natural way.

But The fire pokémon came back Piloswine was only one who stand at least chance becouse only thing his father left him was his egg move "Ancient Power" during battle piwosine find some unique feeling and evolve into first Mamoswine, with this new find power He won the battle and had three son wich one traveled into the land of Galar.

Actually on the whole Mamoswine thing... Game Freak has stated that the "Knowing 4 moves thing is a game mechanic" Which means that Piloswine likely already knows Ancient Power especially if you play legends arceus which essentially shows that all the moves learned at level 1 are known to the pokemon but the trainer has to decide what it knows. And the move relearner is likely just teaching the trainer how to get the pokemon to use said move. Also legends arceus made it so most trade evolutions and trade item evolutions can be done with just an item... so... yeah that gets rid of all of those as well. Isn't it great when a new game comes around and makes old ideas irrelevant?

My head-cannon with regards to trade evos is that there are specific conditions in specific locations in the wild which can emulate the biological altering in the trade evolutions, in fact it would make more sense in reverse for pokescientists to build these functions into the trade machines to make those harder very specific evolutions easier for trainers. I'm no Prof Rowan, but that would be cool
Imagine Seadra having to migrate to a very specific location in very deep parts of the ocean to evolve. I'd defs use a scale from the department store and a machine at a pokemon centre instead.

My head canon is that Trade Evolution Pokémon need to learn a wide range of different skills from different teachers in order to evolve, so trading is how we as trainers can achieve that in-game, but in the wild, they can also do this by following different Pokémon around and observing them. ❤

I think the Milotic example proves that there are potentially multiple ways to cause a pokemon to evolve, but only one is accessible within each game.

Imagine the first time pokemon scientists saw a pokemon evolve after being traded through their machine.
For Alcremie I think it might be possible given the toon logic in the pokemon world. It would pick up some strawberries to eat and then suddenly a big pokemon stampedes past it, causing it to spin out and then evolve.

I would like to say that slowking is not that impossible, as we saw one evolve in the anime. Just needed to put the rock on its head and a shelder would bite it, causing it to evolve. This is probably how it works in the wild.
