Just wanted to stop by and say thanks! I live in downtown Dallas and for the life of me couldn’t figure out how to get here. I watch the trout stocking report and have had to go to elsewhere but now I can fish more! Thank you so much man.
So 🆒 to find out about this spot. Raccoon Creek is a beautiful tributary. Also the namesake of the historic Raccoon Creek Baptist Church that I attend in Stilesboro.
Do you know if you can go down the stocking road? I found the Paulding Forest WMA map and there is a road that goes all the way to the creek. I am not necessarily prepared for a bike ride on the Silver Comet trail.
I have not tried, but from what I understand is that is a lot longer distance then coming in from the silver comet. If you are up for the hike it is worth a try though!
I’m going out there this coming up weekend. Hopefully it won’t be all fished out. Then again, my friend and I thought that about Helen this past weekend and we caught a few good ones! She got a nice 16.5 in rainbow. All the others were 8-12. We had a lot of fun! Thanks for the tips!
Used your video to find this place today. Used spinners, but the water level was high and quick from all the rain. Only caught two small red eye bass. When you arrived at the creek did you make your way up stream or down stream?
Looks like you had quite the adventure. I'd like to try out this fishing creek. I've done a lot of hunting in the Paulding Forest WMA. So I could use some clarification on directions, so I think this is what you explained. Drive on McPherson Church Rd until your at the Silver Comet trail. Is their parking there? Go north on the trail, about a mile. When you see the conservation land sign, hike down to the creek. How far do you have to hike in to the creek from the SC trail? I'm looking at Google Earth to try and find the creek without much luck. Thanks in advance for any insight.
Thanks Randy. You're correct. There is parking, but only a few spaces. It's only about 200 hundred yards from the SC to the creek. The little trail thru the woods leads to a gravel/grass road. Take a right on the road and you will be going downhill. That takes you right to where they stock it. Google earth can be difficult with these small streams in heavy tree cover.
I caught my first trout in Raccoon Creek back in the early 80’s. Just way down stream from the wma. They used to stock it and pumpkin vine and bluffy creeks at the roads.

You are welcome! Glad it helped.
What time did you get on the water?
This trip I got out there at about 5pm.
Went today with my dad. We walked and had a nice time. Water is low but we still got a few for the pan. Thanks for showing the way.
No problem. Glad you got on some fish!
This is a great video! Please keep up the good work! I love the content.
Thanks! I appreciate that a lot!

@@southernoutdoorsmd6229 Thanks for the reply! I will check it out eventually and let you know
Very cool! I need to get a WMA stamp and a trout stamp. That looks like fun!
Any other species in there?
Yes there are. It's your normal species you would see in pretty much any creek in GA though. Sunfish (aka Bream), bass, small catfish, etc...
@@southernoutdoorsmd6229 Thank you for the info.

I have gone up and downstream. Downstream has produced the best though. They should be stocking that location soon.

That's an awesome memory. Thanks for sharing!
Why do people like trout fishing so much?
