That said, my dad was the kinda cat who would take my brother and I to work with him on a summer day. Then after the long drive and relatively quick check up on the plants he managed, would just be like, "screw it, wanna spend the rest of the day at Kennywood or Idlewild Park?" My love of coasters comes from him. Now I share that love with my son and daughters & park season and trip plans are my family's true joy. This is the Spinal Tap coaster because it deserves an 11/10. I haven’t ridden any other RMC but this is absolutely the best coaster I’ve ever ridden. It basically tells Velocicoaster to hold its beer and then consistently attempts to destroy your soul (and your thighs too!). I screamed like a giddy child on every ride and I don’t even care. The signs in the queue say this is a “New Level” of coaster. That is an understatement. Kudos, congrats, and I know when I consistently see people who have over 1000 credits come off the thing speechless, someone has done something good. 😎
Great review/video! Rode it about 5 times yesterday and loved every second of it. The ride is so exhilarating and full of great moments that you could ride it a hundred times and not get bored of it. I freaking love how many ejector airtime moments it has. I was really impressed with Velocicoaster but Iron Gwazi blows it away. I can't wait to go back and take my parents to ride this thing. I'm so glad we got a coaster like this in Florida. I feel like g-force heavy coasters (like the Hulk and Montu) are a thing of the past. They're just not fun to ride when the only feeling you get is being pushed down against your seat really hard for the entire ride. It's all about speed and positive G's imo, and Iron Gwazi has that in spades! I'm thinking of getting an annual pass and trying to get 100 rides on this bad boy.
i just rode this today all i gotta say is this ride is the greatest addition in years and velocicoaster and iron gwazi are really really close in my rankings i’m so glad i made the trip out to Tampa for this fine addition to the sea world park chain.
I jusr rode this for the first time. One of the best coasters I've ever ridden, never audibly said wow like that after any ride. Iron Gwazi blew my mind.
My first ride and my first RMC was the very back car a few days ago. It was an experience that was unparalleled to any first I've ridden. It just didn't stop trying to throw me from the train, and that's my favorite sensation, while doing things I had only seen in videos, so you'll have to adjust for that in judging my opinion, but it is a masterpiece. Please do yourself a favor and ride it at night. It was a completely unhinged ride that had me screaming at the top of my lungs and laughing from the absolute insanity and reactions from other riders.
Its so good, I got like 40ish rides on it a couple days ago and it blows my last number 1 out of the water. Like it's intense but its like a rerideable intensity. Its my favorite coaster by far.
Riding this felt like a dream. With it being in my home park I’ve seen it CONSTANTLY. I’m right there with you, it’s top notch but I don’t think it’s my top RMC. It’s smooth, amazing, and a blast to ride. I just feel like it’s missing something and I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe one more hill? I don’t know.

I never imagined that a ride would top Steel Vengeance for me, but Iron Gwazi did. It has perfect pacing and intensity and it is my new favorite coaster! I'm so grateful to have it at my home park.
@@coasters4life388 I mean, I acknowledged that I was surprised. Steel Vengeance is amazing, but Iron Gwazi was both more enjoyable and more thrilling for me.
Honestly, I think Iron Gwazi's drop, despite being only 1 foot taller and steeper than Steel Vengeance, is WAY better. It is in my top 2 drops of all time.
I recently went on this ride last Saturday on the 26 on my Florida trip and I can confidently say this is the best roller coaster that I’ve been on in my lifetime velosicoaster has got noting on Iron Gwazi!!!!
Just rode it for the first time last Friday as Busch Gardens Tampa is my home/local park and I have an annual pass so I go all the time. I’ve visited many parks and have ridden many top tier class coasters. This is by far my all time number one brand new favorite roller coaster of all time (for now as I still have yet to ride Velocicoaster at Islands of Adventure but will be doing so next month which may change my mind but as of now it’s my new #1!!)
Perfect review of this ride, I however didn’t notice that last drop as extreme as you did but noticed a brief extreme ejector slightly earlier in the ride too Hands down floridas best coaster and that’s coming from someone who loves velicoaster
Finally caught some rides today, it is insane. The thing that surprised me the most is how quiet it is. Like once it falls off the lift hill you can barely hear it if at all in the station. This thing is glass smooth and delivers.
Got three rides in this and I kept feeling like the whole point of the ride was to throw me off the train at all cost. ( in the best ways). It was just angry at us for daring to ride. Mind blowing ride! Loved every single element and you are correct, the wave turn is for sure the best of of them.
So I've rode this 23 times so far.... By far the best ride in Florida... better than rides at carowinds or cedar point? Idk, never rode them. But as a local FL guy, I'm blown away. It's amazing.
Thank you so much for a thorough and descriptive review of Iron Gwazi!! It looks amazing and unbelievable!!! I am so excited I'm going to get to ride it coming up in April. I was actually supposed to go to the Universal parks with my friend, but unfortunately she had to back out... Now I'm going to head to Tampa instead and rassle with Iron Gwazi!!! 🐊🎢 Stoked!!! It has been a long time coming!
This is now my new favorite roller coaster! Iron Gwazi does everything Steel Vengeance does, but better. The turns are whippier, the airtime is even stronger than Steve, the wave turn is insane, and that “death roll” tries to tear you apart. Plus, IG keeps its pace from start to finish, and has zero dead spots. I even rode this ride in the back row at night, which made the experience even crazier. EDIT: VelociCoaster just dethroned this ride when I rode it this past weekend.
I wanted to go into my first rides blind, not knowing anything about the layout, so I didn't watch reviews until I rode. This might be my new favorite ride ever! It was so insanely strong, with such a great layout. I think that Twisted Timbers is the only ride I've ridden that has stronger airtime. In my rides, Twisted Timbers' trick-track-double-up was extremely strong, almost too much for even me. That might be the only ride I put above Iron Gwazi.
I honestly think one of my gripes with a coaster can be how they handle loose articles. Thankfully Iron Gwazi effortlessly handles this with the zipper pouches under the seat. Makes a long line tolerable because you can bring your stuff with you, and then stow it away without worry.
I rode this ride during spring break and BOY THIS RIDE IS FAST . i mean like i literally have nothing to say and the wave turn guys has to be my all time favorite element ever and ive ridden 672 coaster! I ride i would compare this to is to picture New Texas giant wayy taller with inversions . Without a doubt my favorite roller coaster i’ve ridden
Best coaster in Florida hands down. So glad they gave this coaster the rmc treatment. Rode the original Gwazi several times. It was rough after the 1st yr. Wood coasters can be awesome. Unfortunately wood coasters and FL just dont mix.
Iron Gwazi is a great masterpiece and awesome RMC to ride. I wish I can tell my parents if we can take a vacation to ride on this thing. It looks pretty fun to ride! It's also the best RMC to be replace by the original Gwazi wooden coaster.
THIS! I'm so glad Alan is willing to make his rides more intense. I love airtime but I prefer coasters that have a good range of forces which is something Gwazi does so well.
Great review of an awesome ride! Got to ride yesterday. First ride was back row and was blown away by all the air time. Last ride was front row and I think I enjoyed the air time better in front. Restraints were great, no bruising unlike my home park RMC, Twisted Cyclone. Keep up the great work on your reviews!
Just rode this masterpiece today and easily the greatest coaster I’ve ever ridden. I’m a tall so I get sketched out putting my hands up cause I think I’m going to hit the structure. Rode this in backseat with the lap bar decently above my waist and I never felt that much airtime in my life. Haven’t rid steel vengeance yet but I think it can’t be better than Iron Gwazi.
I enjoyed the original, but the RMC treatment seemed to have served it well! What I liked about the original were the quick circular banked turns that reversed direction and the station fly over. RMC kept these maneuvers and took the station fly over and made it that amazing wave turn. It actually kept some of the original layout. I can’t wait to ride this beast, but am a bit scared haha.
I have 16 rides on it over the past 2 days. Great coaster! Biggest strength is the pacing on this coaster. When it is warmed up it really goes. I've been on better stallls. Wave turn is one of the 2 best on RMC's. DEath Roll is quite good. I would take Iron Rattler's first drop, but I think this drop is better than Steve's. Overall I have it as the third best RMC of the 16 I've been on, and it is currently my #3 overall coaster. A very good coaster.
I rode the original Gwazi many times. It was really rough and painful for the most part but I rode it every time because the line was always short and I would always have some fun with it. However, I was definitely praying for this one to become an RMC when I first heard the great things about Iron Rattler.
I hope for your sake it isn't busy, but unfortunately it will most likely be PACKED. Over half of the people in the park over the first two or three months will be queued for this.
Have ridden steel vengeance 13 times over a two day trip. Unfortunately it was in the 50's and 60's the two days I was there. Had the opportunity to ride iron gwazi 14 times in 2 days just 2 months ago. Both days were 88 degrees or higher. Iron Gwazi ran like it was on steroids. Never have experienced a more intense ride. Went on a Monday and Tuesday. Never waited more than 15 min. and only sat in the front or back. The front is amazing but there is just something special about the back.
I love RMCs. I’ve experienced Zadra and Untamed for now and both rides are insane. But what I dislike is the capacity. It takes ages for the next train to get into the station and due to the complicated restraint system it’s usual for RMCs to stack trains. With restrains that open up and close automatically, a rolling station block and faster drive tires the capacity wouldn’t be an issue any more. Only Zadra had good ops, but they also had a massive crew.
I agree with you on the capacity issues. I've Done All The 3 RMC's in Europe and wildfire has the best operations out of all of them, probably because the park is always empty. Untamed I was waiting years for a dispatch and with zadra at the beginning of the day when not as much people were there because they have to wait for a minimum number of guests were were waiting there on the train for 20 mins... not ideal xD
Just went to busch gardens yesterday. Got 4 rides on iron gwazi and it is by far the craziest coaster I've ever been on. (Went to cedar point for 2 days last year but completely rained out. So no steel vengeance yet.)
What I notice and love about Iron Gwazi vs other RMCs is there are no "straight" air time hills maybe except for the last one. Every airtime moment has a some sort if twist into or out if it (like the shot at the 5:00 mark) ie. Before you hit the Outer bank you're in an inner bank then twist to an outer bank(steel Vengeance is upright then banks left), before the Death Roll it rapidly changes directions, all the elements are twisty. Even Zadra has a big airtime hill in it. We might start seeing more whippy RMC hybrids alongside airtime filled ones!
I've actually ridden the OG Gwazi back in 2013, I thought it was pretty fun but I do remember it being rough. I can't wait to ride this the next time my family goes on a Florida vacation, maybe it'll beat out El Toro and Steel Vengeance as my Favourite roller coaster
I have ridden the original Gwazi as well, and I do remember it as being on par with the Mean Streak at Cedar Point. Quite rough and it's pretty painful, plus not too exciting. But, Iron Gwazi looks AMAZING! Looking forward to riding it in early April. I was on vacation 3 years ago I think and remembered seeing IG starting to be constructed... so I am in major major anticipation!! 🐊🎢💯
Great review Talyor! I plan to visit Busch gardens Tampa in April and ride this masterpiece. I get to compare it to steel vengeance and man am I stoked!
Sustained intensity sustained airtime sustained positives too an rmc with positive forces that are noticeable. Plus it barely slows down there is no true break in the ride. It has everything that I love in a coaster. Mix of forces and sustained forces. I haven’t been on it but if I went on it it would be my favorite. Florida is lucky to have this ride

@@coasters4life388 I mean, I acknowledged that I was surprised. Steel Vengeance is amazing, but Iron Gwazi was both more enjoyable and more thrilling for me.
just went on iron gwazi for the first time, its actually incredible, my new favourite rollercoaster!
Honestly, I think Iron Gwazi's drop, despite being only 1 foot taller and steeper than Steel Vengeance, is WAY better. It is in my top 2 drops of all time.
What's the other one?
@@noclosecoasters9903 Millennium Force.
zadras is more insane than vengeance. I can't wait to ride gwazi, looks incredible
Hope it compares well to my beloved zadra
The giga drops minus intimidator 305 and X2 are still better
8:40 There's me in the front row!
Perfect review of this ride, I however didn’t notice that last drop as extreme as you did but noticed a brief extreme ejector slightly earlier in the ride too
Hands down floridas best coaster and that’s coming from someone who loves velicoaster
Is the airtime on Iron Gwazi better than Mako airtime. Yes or no
Let’s go finally!, I can’t wait to ride this, eventually. Don’t know when I will get to Florida but I will someday.
I was highly impressed with Iron Gwazi! I road the front and I wasn't ready lol it was intense and I loved it best ride hands down now at Bush gardens
Ahhhh I loved this ride! Went on it today!!
Classic Gwazi will be missed. Was my favorite ride as a kid.
Hey at least they didnt just level it and build something else!
You feel that 1 degree and I stand by that
So I've rode this 23 times so far....
That's insanely impressive seeing how SV was already a perfect coaster.
IKR! Night rides on this thing are insane!
@@braxtonhill417 100%
night time, you have No Clue whats happening to you
( ive only ridden it at night 8x)
I can’t wait to ride it!
Best coaster in Florida hands down. So glad they gave this coaster the rmc treatment. Rode the original Gwazi several times. It was rough after the 1st yr. Wood coasters can be awesome. Unfortunately wood coasters and FL just dont mix.
Your reviews keep getting better and better
I agree with you. It feels so weird you can ride Iron Gwazi as I have always thought of it as an “RMC Decoration”.
Love all the positive reviews about this
Iron Gwazi is a great masterpiece and awesome RMC to ride. I wish I can tell my parents if we can take a vacation to ride on this thing. It looks pretty fun to ride! It's also the best RMC to be replace by the original Gwazi wooden coaster.
The lighting package is beautiful
I am from Germany and done it today. For sure my favorite in Florida even better than Velo, which I love. Top 3 for me easily of all the rides I did
Second best coaster I’ve ever been on and my first RMC. Cant wait to do Steel Vengeance
Iron Gwazi is part of the evolution of RMC. Zadra and IG are like RMC 2.0. all about speed and intensity with insane airtime instead of airtime first
THIS! I'm so glad Alan is willing to make his rides more intense. I love airtime but I prefer coasters that have a good range of forces which is something Gwazi does so well.
Best rollercoaster mankind has ever seen
Great review of an awesome ride! Got to ride yesterday. First ride was back row and was blown away by all the air time. Last ride was front row and I think I enjoyed the air time better in front. Restraints were great, no bruising unlike my home park RMC, Twisted Cyclone. Keep up the great work on your reviews!
Keep up the great work btw love you vids
Having ridden Zadra and having it as my #1, Iron Gwazi is definitely high on my bucket list
You'd be surprised
Awesome review! Thanks for the years of awesome content.
Iron gwazi is my top one because it is the only roller coaster I have ridden
Finally....the video I have been waiting for!!!!
It is very important to ride this on a warm day when it's running faster
Much slower in the morning compared to late afternoon as well. Felt like a completely different ride.
It’s my #1. It never relents from start to finish. Easily beats every RMC!
Death roll in the back is insane how it pulls the back through it and whips you through it
Bgt is my home park and I love iron gwazi
I have 16 rides on it over the past 2 days. Great coaster! Biggest strength is the pacing on this coaster. When it is warmed up it really goes. I've been on better stallls. Wave turn is one of the 2 best on RMC's. DEath Roll is quite good. I would take Iron Rattler's first drop, but I think this drop is better than Steve's. Overall I have it as the third best RMC of the 16 I've been on, and it is currently my #3 overall coaster. A very good coaster.
Steel Vengeance is like a hard slap to the face, but Iron Gwazi is like a hard punch to the face!
I rode the original Gwazi many times. It was really rough and painful for the most part but I rode it every time because the line was always short and I would always have some fun with it. However, I was definitely praying for this one to become an RMC when I first heard the great things about Iron Rattler.
So excited to ride this opening day. Hopefully with all these previews the line won’t be too ridiculous
I hope for your sake it isn't busy, but unfortunately it will most likely be PACKED. Over half of the people in the park over the first two or three months will be queued for this.
@@DuecePiece yea for sure, Im sure I won’t mind the waiting tho
@@elliotbeaver8299 it'll be well worth it! Definitely looks world-class! Have fun and safe travels on your trip!
@@DoubleARay also done all 3, wildiire it's ops are okay but zadra's are lightning fast
Can't wait to ride this. Well done!
🐊🎢💯
Great review! Very thorough.
Seeing all of the buzz for Iron Gwazi really makes me want to go down there right now to ride. Some day, some day.
when this coaster warms up IT WARMS UP
Hey, Brandonblogs makes a cameo at 9:13 which objectively makes this ride an 11/10
I love when I hear my home park RMC on a review (Storm Chaser).
Nice review on Iron Gwazi!
Wow wow wow I totally have to experience this as soon as humanly possible
Its so intense I love it my 2nd favorite roller coaster
