    I think u have strongly mistaken by propeller and hull concept of anode and cathode initially. Please correct me if i am wrong and you finally got corrected at the end in last 2 minutes
    u r image on 7 22 is totally incorrect

    We are making propeller as anode and hull as cathode..so now propeller will lose electrons right sir?? Means it will lose material or pitting will take place

      Sir one thing,after giving impressed current to insoluble anode how ship hull start behaving like cathode???

  • @aswinmadhu6017
    @aswinmadhu6017 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sir .
    If the hull is converted into cathode and if electrolytic reaction take place by using impressed anode .
    There will be deposit on the ship hull right .
    So that is problm .
    Isn't ??

    If the hull is converted into cathode due to impressed anode ... What about propeller .. how it is protected

    • @nitinmishra540
      @nitinmishra540 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By active shaft grounding

    • @comradeivan3903
      @comradeivan3903 ปีที่แล้ว

      The propeller is electrically bonded to the hull by the shaft grounding arrangement. so it recieves ICCP protection.

      at container terminals if the ICCP is switched on then it will try to protect the jetty as well, so it will consume more power from the system and it will lead to overload on the system

    What will happen to propeller after galvanic corrosion is reversed

    • @MarineEngineeringHub
      @MarineEngineeringHub  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Vinay mahto,
      As propeller is already acting as cathode right from the beginning so it will act as cathode and will not get corroded.
      With the help of ICCP system we are turning ship hull into another cathode and prevention galvanic corrosion.
      I hope you understand!!!

    at 08 35 u say Ship hull is cathode and at the end slide you are mentioning Ship hull is Anode ????

    • @SANU676
      @SANU676 ปีที่แล้ว

      HIS NOTES ARE EXTRACTED FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES THATS WHY HE IS MIXING THINGS UP !!! anode gets oxidized and protects cadhode according to electro chemistry ... applying this concept Vikas Sir wants to convey that ship is anode and gets oxidized when comes in contact with other metals (which are cathodes) in sea water and hence anode gets corroded !

      In ac current the polarity is changing with the time so protection will not take place with AC, cathode and anode is also changing . but in dc the polarity is remains constant. so we use DC for the system or we can use AC with a rectifier.

      If an atom give electron it bcms positively charged? Right
      But in galvanic cell, anode is negative why

    • @Adventures_of_Sahan
      @Adventures_of_Sahan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bt9604 In a galvanic cell, electrons will move in to the anode. Since electrons carry a negative charge, then the anode is negatively charged.
