WarioWare D.I.Y. Showcase - Showcase #2

- I've been getting a bunch of microgames lately! I've received enough of them from various people to fill up another shelf. And you know what that means--Showcase #2 is now available to watch. I actually got more than these, but not enough to fill up another shelf to make Showcase #3. That will appear later.
My roster is finally getting occupied, and some have elected to share microgames with me from other people. This being said, I will still go Jay Sherman on these microgames and criticize them ruthlessly. Here goes...
1. "MEAT B0Y" (from Edmund McMillen, creator of Meat Boy): I don't care if it came from an experienced video game designer, it was somewhat difficult to tell what to do with this microgame. I'm not the least bit familiar with Meat Boy, but the fact that meat Boy looked sad, the girl looks really weird when Meat Boy bumped into her, there was the Quake stage effect, and we heard booing, led me to believe I had failed the microgame.
2. "Type of Love" (from Jay): Interesting shipping--WarioxMona. I wonder what she sees in someone like him. Gameplay wise, a bit basic but it stands out in a good way for me.
3. "Tap Tap Jump" (from Elias): This was probably just a test to see how the engine works so I won't deduct anything from this.
4. "Digital Daze" (from the NinSoft Store): I should go crack this microgame open sometime to see how it works. It seems there are a lot of possible numbers to fill in, and I'm curious as to how many managed to fit in. It's quite interesting, really.
5. "Phoenix Wright" (from Michael): I'm sure all of you recognize that giant red word as "Objection!" but it was kind of hard to read. I also thought the letter said, "Maya!" when it actually says, "Mayai." Nevertheless, I do admire the time needed to draw everything in this.
6. "Sink Whole" (from the NinSoft Store): Very much like the boss stage in Jimmy T.'s set but still solid.
7. "Shieldguard" (form Schmidt): Nice artwork in this. The background looks like a Van Gogh. However, the first arrow comes in too soon after the microgame starts. This would be very difficult, if not impossible, on faster difficulties when put into the shuffler.
8. "WUBUBUBUBUBU" (from jack): This is also most likely an experiment on how the engine works, considering the total lack of music. It was completely unclear as to what you're supposed to do, especially due to there being no instruction.
9. "Multi-Fly" (from the NinSoft Store): Turns out you can only push the button a maximum of 3 times each. This is important to know because I originally tried pushing the +1 button six times when trying to get 7 flies.
10. "The Pyramid" (from Schmidt): Quite admirable artwork here too. However, when I started playing this, I didn't know what needed to be filled in. I also thought the pieces would automatically fill in. However, this became pretty interesting once I did figure it out. I would recommend to make this a long microgame, however, since there's not much time to complete it even on the slowest speeds.
11. "Brits' Buzz" (from Tom): So it seems even Simon Cowell managed to make his way into WarioWare DIY. The buttons are a bit small when played on the Wii, but I think this was meant for the DS.
12. "Fly Home!" (from Todd Lewis, creator of Scribblenauts and Drawn to Life): I should also check out what was done with this microgame, since I don't understand the floaty flying stuff too well. Pretty cute. However, you can get screwed if you're in the wrong spot when you get close to the nest and overshoot it.
13. "Rocky Road" (form the NinSoft Store): Nothing wrong with this one from what I can see. It doesn'treally stand out to me though.
14. "Kirby" (from Edboy): Perfectly understandable even to people who have never heard of Kirby before, and there's an interesting illusion of scrolling. (For those of you who don't have the game, there is no option to scroll the background. Instead, in cases like this one, every object is assigned to start offscreen to the right and move left at the same speed.)
15. "Falcon Punch" (from Rob): Sometimes, there's a missile that comes in WITH the baseball, and it throws me off. Nevertheless, this microgame is always winnable, which I thought wasn't the case when I first tried it.
16. "Parrot Top" (form myself): This is my own microgame so I won't critique it. You can do that for me. This was my entry for Design Challenge #3: Creatures. I hope it's obvious on what needs to be done. (The red parrot can have any of the four noises of the parrots below it.)
17. "Sea Explorer" (from Kevin): Pretty straightforward. The sharks look out of place in their art style. Where did they come from?
18. "SMB PT2" (from Jay): Nice presentation but there is extremely little room for error. If the Podoboo on the left starts at the wrong spot, you lose because Mario takes almost the length of the microgame to get to the other side.
LOOOL the Britain's Got Talent one
Michael (Ace Attorney game) here, actually, the "Mayai" thing says "Mayoi" (romanization of how Maya's name is spelled in Japanese). But yeah, I guess it is kinda hard to read. As for the Objection! bubble, I had to fit it within 4 large objects, and I made the initial letters too big so the "n!" part got kinda squished. Sorry! I'm glad you liked it enough to include it in the compilation.
WAS THAT MEAT BOY!?!
According to the description, yes.
Cutiewintersnow Torres yep
Cutiewintersnow Torres...yup
0:48 OBJECTION
I like "Multi-Fly", "The Pyramid", "Fly Home", "Kirby" and "Parrot Top".
In Phoenix Wright, I read "mayo!" instead "mayai"...
0:23 is kinda funny because Wario looks like he's sharing a nose with Mona.
scratch799...hah
0:20 timestamps didn’t exist back then
Edit: it’s not 0:23
Edit 2: it’s also not 0:18
So, someone out there actually SHIPS Wario and Mona......... Pass the bleech...
Oh, That ship had existed way before someone made that microgame...
Buster i mean... mona yes but why wario
Buster Not giving you bleach untill you spell it right.
Apparently that someone works for Nintendo
Buster ahaha bleach funny and original
1:31 if there was a reality category in WarioWare DIY, this game would fit right in.
1:45 Britain’s got talent
Looks pretty good!
When i finally get the wii version, i'll upload some stuff for you.
@scratch799 basicly its based on another game ( left 4 dead 2) and theres this adreanaline needle which u can use to heal ur self a small amount and gain life-saving speed, and theres a charter in the game (Ellis) that goes WUBUBUBUBU when u use the needle.
I hate how Monster Match (which I've never heard of) gets a game, and Mario gets 3 records, yet Kirby doesn't even get a single mention!
I know it’s been seven years but 2:03
Kirby is owned by Hal
2:12 This game predicted One Punch Man :O
+Miguel Gonzalez (sonicfan280) Well, more like someone named Rob did.

I wish you can share those games now....
Hey Overhazard, HOW MANY GAMES DID YOU MAKE!?!???!

What here doing meat boy In NINTENDO GAME
2nd microgame has mona and wario
Me: *SPIIIIT*
I wanna play it one day and get the original Nintendo Wii games
Moving to California shouldn't be necessary for that.
Maybe I could send you some of mine. I don't have much, but maybe you'll like them. The main problem is: I don't have Wi-Fi on DS at home. It's possible I'll go to a friend tomorrow, so maybe we could exchange microgrames then. Is it OK that I'll send you a PM if I have time?
@Overhazard Nope. I eyeballed everything. Only my Eversion and Fire Emblem games had pixel-perfect sprites.
Also, I played Parrot Top and I think it's a pretty nice idea for a microgame, but don't you think it'd be annoying to play if you had no volume?
There are videos showing the game creators making microgames, and one of them shows Edmund making his Meat Boy microgame. It turns out that in the microgame, Meat Boy thinks he meets up with his girlfriend, only to find out that it is actually the main villain in disguise, and "everybody's unhappy about it". So yeah, that microgame's stupid.
@FLUDDGadd uhm... what is its plot? it appears to be something about drugs.
0:23
I'm not familiar with MEAT BOY either, but I guess that you would have to play the game first to get it. I made a microgame about MOTHER (a rather obscure NES game that never came to America) and I believe it's the same case.
Kirby and The Pyramid look pretty good.
Your Parrot Top game seems to be an excellent idea. Looks just like the material that could be seen as a theme challenge winner. I hope you do well.
By the way, are you still accepting friend codes? I have both DIY and Showcase.
1:13 what is that game called
WUBUBUBUBU
I rushed my microgame sadly and it wasn't complete. oh well.
