I used to live in Marlborough Road from 1953-1973 and have fond memories of how things used to be during that period. I moved to North Wales in 1973 where I still reside. This footage brought a lump to my throat reminding me just how normal people, and life in general was back then. People dressed normal and smart in those days and during those May Day processions I remember the huge crowds that used to turn out to support the occasion. How times have changed since then, and not for the better!. Thank you very much for posting this clip. Local nostalgia at its very best
You are more than welcome. This is my wife's family but I tend to be the archivist and its great that sharing it sometimes gives satisfaction in this way.
@@aleatherland1 The May Day Walks 1963, I was one of the Trainbearers to the May Queen Charmaine Gilligan and am shown quite clearly behind her. This must be the only footage taken of that day and I never knew it existed until yesterday.
@@franm.8343 glad my sharing the video has lead to a pleasant surprise for you. I'm sure you can lift the clip off you tube if you want but I can send an mpeg file if you would like

I am on this video as a child and my cousins and uncles are also included. I was a Doyle before I married and Pat and John Doyle were my Uncles.
Glad you found it interesting...............better shared than languishing in a cupboard!
