Thanks Ray for putting this together. It makes me so sad to see how it was. I left Salford in 1974 but it was still a shock to see my old school De La Salle being demolished
I went from 1995 to 1997. I made a video of it here which you can see. I hate seeing the houses there, had 2 great years there - th-cam.com/video/BDDDI9E5drc/w-d-xo.html
This is a long shot, but any chance you have a photo of West Stable St? It's where the MIddlewood Locks development is now. I was there last week, visiting the site where my grandmother, Ester Darbyshire, grew up. Many thanks! Kirk from Toronto
The photo of Cleminson St (1930) brought me up short. My mother was born at 55 Upper Cleminson St in December 1930. Incidentally, I am engaged in a fruitless search to find out more about her mother Martha Driver. The only official record of her I can find is on the baptism record of my mother in January 1931. I am wondering if Salford Registry Office might have more information about her.
Thank you for this. I love that you name the streets/area on each slide. Few other posters do this, and it really helps. Thank you.
Great presentation, thanks, Eccles
Enjoyed this, thanks

Was Martha married. Is Driver her maiden name? Look for a marriage first. There's a few free sights for limited research. Lancs BMD. Free BMD.

Preserve everything, take as many pictures as possible.
4:18 Light Oaks Primary School. "Pop" Harris was the head when I was there, c1960, probably one of the nicest headmasters a school ever had.
