My wife & I toured the Queen Mary in 2011. We spent the night. We had a second class room with 2 port holes, 2 queen beds & 1 bathroom. It cost 225.00 at that time. This was a Saturday night so we enjoyed the Sunday brunch in the grand salon the next morning. The cost was 50.00 for both of us. Well worth the memories & all the pictures I took. Oh forgot had dinner Saturday night in a garden cafe over looking harbor. Our room over looked the harbor also.
I was a kid when I was on the ship.for a few days in October 1982. They had a gift shop on the main floor to the right. There were steps that led down to it and I remember the lady that work there was little bit older and she was very nice and friendly. They had a restaurant just a few steps from that that had the best hot chocolate and croissants I've ever had. A typical kid, I loved exploring the ship. And I remember that the only place I didn't like was the starboard side of the hull. I just had a very creepy feeling in that area.
I highly doubt it, if I had to guess, I'd say he was more scared over going to a foreign country to kill other people and back then it was hand to hand combat in trenches. I'm pretty sure a couple of ghosts on the ship were nothing to him. We lost him in 2006 at 91 years old.
What I would like to see in the queen Mary is getting restored back into an oceanliner (I'm not talking about sailing) but to restore all of her interiors to the pre war state including the now defunct other public rooms and second and third class cabins !!! That would be great !
She's a beautiful job and as aged well. She'still floats and that is a huge boon in her favor. If she could be restored to liner status, I think there would be many who would be chomping at the bit to sail in her. Much like those who want to experience the nostalgia and romance now lost on trains pulled by steam locomotives.
She did not become a battleship; she became a troop ship. Who researched this, or better still, who did not research this? That and referring to the Queen Mary as weighing 81 tons....smh And our host for the tour is Commodore Louie Anderson. lol
Well said Carnivalguy! It was very badly "researched" Why was the picture of (now) Dame Angela Lansbury showing her in a fifties? photo. She'd grown a lot older than that when she filmed the "Murder, She Wrote" episode on the Queen Mary! PS: What does "smh" mean?
You're so right, Carnivalguy. I picked up on that, too. "Battleship," really? 81 tons? She was also mistakenly referred to as a "cruise ship." Just sloppy.
I think they meant 81,000 tons... Pretty major oversight considering the Olympic class were all over 45,000 tons and one of them is the most famous ship in history
Here's one about the Queen Mary many don't know. Director Irwin Allen was aboard her during a terrible storm. The Queen did had one flaw engineers were never able to correct no matter what they tried. She was very prone to rolling at sea. At one point Irwin felt like she was going to capsize. Of course she didn't but then he thought, what would have happen if she had? Well, I think you know the rest. Irwin Allen had the inspiration for a blockbuster movie. The Poseidon Adventure .

KillerEverythingvlogs Yes, their doing cosmetic things for the guests, when they should be spending on what she really needs, a dry dock, either temporary while her hull is repaired,or permanent if the hull is too far gone. Fifty years of neglect combined with saltwater have taken their toll. Of course If she sinks it’ll only be a couple of feet, around ten I think.

oiljerk if I ask my gramps he says he does not remember 😂
Keep up the Great work
Weights more then 81 tons 😂 I’d say... 😂😂 try adding a few zeros to that 😂😂
during ww2 the Queen Mary turned into a battleship
The Queen Mary: * has 1 dual 40mm AA gun *
warship seems like a better term.
It did not. It was a troop carrier and she sliced a battleship in two killing nearly everyone aboard. Which may be why many believe her to be haunted.
LOL "Weighs more than 81 tons." Yes indeed - it weighs 81,237 tons.

Lelelel Olympic class didn’t weigh 45,000 tons. That number is volume
Oh no don't call her a "cruise liner" she's an ocean liner!!
At 1:53 they announce that the ship weighs (81) Eighty One Tons, man that's a heavy ship!

Close, Paul Gallico who wrote the book that the movie was based on was the one who was aboard her when she rolled on her side.
During World War II the Queen Mary has some Deck Guns the Queen Mary looks Better with camouflage paint
NOT A CRUISE LINER OCEAN LINER EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
To bad the modified it so badly when they made a hotel out of, should of maintain it the way it was in service
