At 12.10 you release the tension on the spring with just the star nut holding the top spring seat in place. As a result of this, would it not then be possible to change the strut bearing/top mounts without compressing the spring? (in theory of course). In reality it's better to be safe, as you don't know the condition of the upper spring seat. Just curious about your thoughts on this. Great vids btw. For anyone commenting about wanting more torque wrench action or using impact sockets etc, these videos allow you to read between the lines. The stages at which a torque wrench or impact socket should be used are obvious, so all you have to do is substitute your own preferences at those stages. Keep up the good work autodoc.
Thank you for the feedback! You are absolutely right. This video is considered to be an informative one, and it shows the sequence of repairs, without going into all the technical nuances. Best regards, Autodoc.
Theres some mistakes in the video. When the axle is still suspended, the shocks and dampers must not be tightened firmly - the reason: Once the vehicle stands on the ground again, the mounting points are not properly aligned anymore either. The serious impact on the inner workings of the shock or damper is identical in both cases. To prevent the described distortions and defects, workshops should follow one simple rule: As a basic principle, shocks or dampers may only be tightened once the vehicle stands on its wheels Heres the warning which I found in Sachs official website, you can find them too

The OEN number of the old suspension is 31277877,cuz its sticker is yellow. Is that a suspension with Nivomat system? And the new suspension number is 314 125,not the same OEN number. Is that interchangeable?

This is a crap video! most home mechanics don't have access to a lift. the process is not the same. One rule should always be followed, shocks or dampers may only be tightened once the vehicle stands on its wheels.
