No way I would've guessed that ending! You're in for a real treat with Stevenson. Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone made my all-time-favorite list. You should definitely give it a read, especially if you're enjoying this one!

This is my first start and stop buddy read and my first Benjamin Stevenson book! I'm so excited! The advent calendar style of reading sounds like so much fun, but I agree that it will be so hard to stop at just one chapter every day. I just wanted to keep reading after chapter 1 and find out why his ex-wife is charged with murder, but I was good and stopped there. We'll see how the rest of the month goes. I'm really liking the tone of the story so far. If I continue to enjoy the book this much, I may have to check out the earlier books in the series.

I never would've guessed that one! You'll probably discover quite quickly, that I'm prone to tossing out some wild theories during our buddy reads. hehe Be sure to let me know if you end up grabbing a copy of Everyone in My Family is a Killer (the first book). The tone is very similar. It starts out with the '10 Commandments of Detection' by Richard Knox. These were the "rules" that Agatha Christie, Knox & others followed while writing during the Golden Age of Mysteries. It added so much to the book as the rules are pointed out as the story unfolds.

I haven't read Chapter 2 yet. I'm about to grab my book once I find my phone to film. hehe I was hoping for a longer chapter today, but oh well. Definitely let me know when you decide to cave & grab the first book. I'd be willing to bet that you'll decide to before we reach Dec 14. hehe (It's one of my all-time-favorites if you hadn't guessed by now.)
I totally missed this but I’m loving the book. I’ve read the first book and loved it and this is reminding me how much I love his writing style and his sense of humor. I really need to read the second one.
This is my first Benjamin Stevenson book, but I like his writing so far. It was so hard to stop reading after that first chapter, but I think it makes it easier to start reading each day when you know it is just one chapter. Then I want to read more and pick up one of the other books I am reading.
This is my first book in the series but I really enjoyed the rules that were given to us. I think this is such a fun idea for a book and I’m looking forward to getting to know all the suspects!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was like, "wait, what?" In the beginning. Lol I think starting a book can be confusing too. But I am excited to see how it goes moving forward. I may reread chapter one as I progress in the book. Seems like a fun read so far. This is my first from this author. Thankful that my library had the books for me so quickly. I also have the Peter Swanson one that I'll read this month.

Hi Michael! I'm super excited to be buddy reading again, too! I've missed doing this with y'all. I hope Andy's going to be a key player in this one. His character cracks me up. (He does have a small role in Everyone on This Train.) I'm pretty sure Josh Felman is from Everyone on this Train, but don't quote me I may be wrong. I don't remember all the character names from that book. I'm currently fighting the urge to start re-reading both books, but I know if I pick one up there's no chance I'll finish decorating for Christmas & my Just Spin It video will be delayed even more. Must...Resist...Temptation...
I just have to say that it is excruciating to only read 1 chapter a day with this story. I just finished day 4 and it took everything in me to put it down. 😂
Its so hard to only read one chapter. 🤣 Especially in this type of book. I want to know more. Is staying up until midnight to continue cheating? 😂 LOL.
Got that right! This little buddy read is going to test our willpower like never before. Nope, I wouldn't call it cheating to read Dec 2 at midnight. Only drawback is you'll have an extra long wait for Chapter 3. hehe There's always a hidden price; isn't there?
@AllisonOnABookBreak Yes. I was influenced to read a horror Christmas Advent book too. So I think I will do one in the morning and one in the evening. 🤣
@@AllisonOnABookBreak There's at least 3 I know if. 🤣 The second one I am doing is on KU called 25 Days by Per Jacobson. There's also a romance one called A Heart For Christmas by Sophie Jomain. I couldn't get that one before it sold out everywhere here, but I believe she has written some great holiday books previously.

And the 25 Days horror one is kind of neat, because the chapters are set on the same date you read it. So chapter one was this family on December 1st.
