Aha! I had staining with the yellow Chaco marker but never knew why. It never occurred to me to read the instructions even after the problem!! Thanks for the hint.
Hello, First I would like to say how much I enjoy your videos. Your decisions on colour theory and modern quilting are inspiring. I also wanted to share one of my tricks for following a quilting pattern. I first photo copy the pattern and then insert each sheet into a plastic sheet protector. I use a paper clip or binder clip to hold the pages together. Then as I work my way through the pattern I cross off each step when completed with a dry erase marker. This way if I have to stop sewing I know exactly where to pick up again. And once the quilt top is complete I can wipe off the dry erase marker with a damp paper towel or Kleenex and the plastic sheet protectors are ready to be used for the next project.
I didn’t read the Facebook comments related to the sashing post, but I wanted to tell you that I loved the explanation of your method. I snipped it from Facebook and saved it because I have had completed blocks waiting for sashing for more than 10 years. I’ll practice your method on some test blocks and see how that goes. Maybe that quilt top will finally get made. Now sandwiching and quilting is another story!! Thanks for all the things you teach us.
Thanks for the discussion! Since you mentioned mixing it up with future QALs, I personally would prefer some that aren’t a mystery, such as My Word. With limited time and resources, I really like to know what I’m investing in. That said, your tips and conversation around design choices is so very helpful that a marriage of a high-love pattern and construction commentary would be perfect for me!
There are many quilters who do our Mystery Quiltalongs once the mystery is fully revealed. That way they can learn from all the different finished quilts, the videos and the pattern itself. We also mix things up with our other quiltalongs such as Hive and My Word.
