once you mix the powder with saline solution you need to use it within 2 days, better mix it with bacteriostatic water so you can keep it for a couple of weeks.

Is it possible to open the vial and divide the contents if one does not want to waste an entire vial by partly using it on one client and then letting the rest go stale?

No, you have to reconstitute the vial and use within the prescribed time if kept refrigerated. You can't divide the powdered contents without contaminating the contents of the vial (making it asterile by introducing bacteria, etc). Allergan also sells 50 U Botox vials if 100 U vials are too much for your practice. The issue isn't that Botox loses its potency if left refrigerated for long periods of time after reconstitution but "concerns regarding its sterility, and hence its safety, since multiple withdrawals from the same vial over long periods can introduce bacterial contamination" (see www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3722467/)
