Welding is truly an engineering art form. You don't appreciate how hard it is to weld once you've tried it. I cannot even imagine what our world would look like without professional welders.
There is so much to learn about welding(and every other trade). I remember in my youth I OVER did things to make them 'best' or 'better' or 'not fall apart'. The cost of remodel of those jobs will not match expectations. Recently, my son was welding the frame for a large slab sawmill and I suggested that 'fine' was better than 'that will never move' life provided the exclamation point when a few of those joints needed to be altered or removed. Also, my Dads only son had a similar issue with this listening skill. For the naysayers, please post your videos. They will help us all!
@@uk_siren got a lathe, milling machine, plasma cutter. mma, migmag, tig, platebender, roller . big bandsaw, drill press. and i also have a separate wood workshop. dont like dust on my metal machines haha. bought all from aside of my job projects. :D
Im a tig pipe welder, my first tip is never get happy with your weld. always improve yourself. in Europe we never finish the weld inside a elbow because is going to absorve more heat inside and will cosed, i know you secure the piece but we both know he will close a litle, we put in the level close to the risk to discount the closing. but you doing a good job i just notice you weld like i weld with mag.
I literally do the same stuff man I swear.. just thicker. I wish my supervisor would let me use some 045 hard wire on some of the stuff I weld. It would be better in most cases, but instead “i” use, “my supervisor makes me use” 1/16 dual shielded flux cord on EVERYTHING 🤷🏻😵💫😵💫🤦🏻🤦🏻🙄🙄. So needless to say I’ve learned to adapt… and mind you all our stuff gets x-rayed
That came out looking really nice man, there’s so much to learn from watching these kinds of videos and the explanations you give when you’re doing something & why you do it the way you do at that given time. Those pull tabs/dogs to close the gap are actually clever. Gonna have to make me some of those! Keep up the good work man
Nice video, greetings from Finland. I wonder if you welded the socket in the wrong place - can you simply cut it out, weld the hole and grind it nice and clean?
Great job, if you don't mind a little tip, when fitting a small socket screw a plug into it, it's so easy to distort it when your tapping it into position, I know from bitter experience, I was asked to weld a 2" socket on a pipe that was already installed up in the air on a Friday afternoon, back in my disco days and i was very keen to get home, the job went fine so i thought on coming in on Monday morning I got my balls ripped off, i'd distorted the socket knocking it straight and the pipefitters couldn't do the job they come into do over the weekend, for the rest of my working life i wouldn't weld a socket on without a plug or any fitting screwed into it.
I work for a pipe fabrication factory. The biggest pipes I’ve built have been a 72inch elbow. Biggest we make in general is 122 inch that one takes 2 forklifts to move around
Nice work fallar, nice little job to take on, bit of a change from welding pipe and flanges all day long.... i know what it is like, nice to have a change from time to time
good job man keep up the good work man on youtube we do heaps of pipes at our work as well with steel with a cut out in it so it can go into the ground for farming we do about 1000 of them in total all year anyway you deserve it man uploading your videos from your work 😊
I watch your content because it's different from what I do here in the US and I'm learning things from watching your stuff I just want to make my next will better than my last and I've always wondered what it's like to squeeze the trigger on a fronius welder they have them here in the US but I haven't ever been fortunate enough to work for a company that uses them first and no matter where they're at in the world they are pretty expensive
Top work. Thread protectors are weld type sockets in the UK as far as I know. From my supplier they are anyway. Suitable for steam and much higher temperature and pressure than the malleable ones sold.
hope you had a few quid in for that one kelv, should be a lovely price job with the skill involved, great fabbing and a beast of a spool mate, my old mate Tel has just been doing a bit with you :) love the content dude keep it up, and hope you have a great xmas PearD411 commenting off my brides account
I am a CWI….. in the states here that threaded socket as you say …… would never be used for code work…. Looks pretty much like a threaded coupling, and the root would need to be a full pen. Weld…. Just sayin ….. other than that the welds look good 👍
Nice work. I work with pulling with the Fronius .. it's great... solid core and Flux core on top. 5 stars your are good and skilled. So im RELAXING ... good work come to DK and I show u Copenhagen!! ! drink beers

Some people can weld with a keyboard and do it all day long from the coffee shop. I challenge anybody that questions your work to show you how they would do it better. Spoiler, It won't ever happen. As always NICE JOB!

Made a good job of that👌 is a shame they wont let us use solid wire at work, most got to be tig root, every now and then a fleet root👎 Sometimes fluxcore fill, most of the time low hy
@@ARCONEWELDING solid wire would be great to use, especially larger sized pipe ie 18" and above. Even if just for the root, then dual shield or fluxcor (whatever you want to call it lol) for the fill and cap. Tig rooting them takes sooooo long. Great welds but that’s not really a positional, you’re in a nice clean shop while we bust ass in the field lol, good to see a great tradesmen achieve success.
Saw your garage video. now you need this th-cam.com/video/il2iyT523sc/w-d-xo.html . For the big pipe you need bigger pipe stands with adjustable H beam inserts. If you were to do xray high pressure pipe welding outside of the bevels is not allowed. I welded with stick exclusively in my 45+ years and ran a welding rig as a contract welder in Alberta Canada. The job was 100% xray work and in the field mostly. Pipe sizes were mostly big inch 24"-48". Almost always hot work. Even wrote up a 70- page booklet on how some of it was done. It was done for something to do in retirement.

Diesen Job habe ich 43 Jahre ausgeübt davon 25 Jahre Montage im in und Ausland heute bin ich seit 10 Jahren in Rente.
I am sure it is just me, but when you were doing the root pass it did not seem to me you were getting any penetration on the base metal?
Surely those elbows came in measure wise start and finshing at the inside of the werld ? Is there Amy X-ray or us checks or these welds also ?
Thank you for climbing inside . I needed to see that
How can you stop this pipe from “pulling” from such a big weld?..or is there a certain tolerance?…
very interresting, thak you.
