Permadeath, but mostly for the children being fed to the horrors of the world. Will Adam block off more of the map with outposts? Only time will tell on this largest of maps now that he is past the tutorial in Gord. A colony RPG management sim within a fantasy world of guts, death and mushrooms to pick.
What a coincidence! I happen to be playing Against the Storm as I get to the part where someone asks you if you've played it. It's been heavily updated since I played it last back in March. I also started this current run because I felt kind of compelled to play it while watching you play this. Weird.
I def think spreading out your proffessions can help, having an advanced barracks instead of just dedicated fighters that drain all your gold. Just swap who you can when you can to kill what u need then save your gold with the trading post.
Maybe spamming more of those bonfires could help? Dunno if they have any influence on the rate of enemy spawning numbers on events like blood moons or on the speed which pawns carry resources or flee.
You might consider putting pawns on jobs that they are either already good at or have aptitude to learn. Some of them are great at one job (like food or cutting) and terrible at others (low level mining and -30% to learn it). I am only a mission or two ahead of you on a blind permadeath run and agree that it is fun, but maybe a little repetitive….
That's because it is an RTS and not a colony builder. I learned that over the course of playing and it changed my fundamental thoughts of the game. I talk about it a lot in the last few episodes of the playthrough. Your workers in this game are like resource harvesters in Command and Conquer or whatever. In all those RTS games you have to babysit your workers or else they will do 'stupid' things get themselves killed etc. So if you don't really like RTS games you probably will not like this one.
@@AdamVsEverything I played all C&C games from Generals to Tiberium Wars, Age of Empires, Starcraft, They Are Billions, Age of Darkness, Company of Heroes etc. etc. etc. This is very much different than those. Maybe I'm playing it wrong due to the pause button. Company of Heroes also had one, but never felt like this.
@@thegamehoarder6887 I wasn't saying you didn't have RTS experience or anything. I have a ton and felt like the game was too micromanagey at first too (like you) until I started thinking about it more as an RTS instead of a base builder/survival game at all. I didn't change into that sort of mindset until much later in the run but felt once I did it 'came together' a bit more. Viewing the workers as SCVs that were long distance mining and who I had to switch from minerals to gas every now and again helped a bit. Of course SCVs or Probes don't have mental breakdowns, though lol
@@AdamVsEverything aha, now I get what you were saying. Interesting. Had it uninstalled, but after a few more updates will look into it again. Love the damn world design, and hope it ticks at one point like you said, am not much for micromanagement. Seeing you play in more recent playthroughs, reminds me of Praetorians for some strange reason, that I do like.

The way Adam just REFUSES to check anyone's proficiency at anything is killing me 😭 but cool to see lvl 5 warriors!
The whole gold mechanic is odd. What do the soldiers use their gold for in the evil forests lol
They should just require more food.

been enjoying these gord playthroughs! looks like a cool game
This looks like it will be fun!

The only downside is that you are limited to how many you can make total, unfortunately, and the number isn't a huge one.
@@AdamVsEverything oooh, I see. Had not noticed that XD
Time to GORD

Engaaaagement 👀
Your dislike for magic is making me insane XD
I used a ton of magic this episode. In fact, it is a good thing I saved my faith for the monster and for the final boss.
@@AdamVsEverything You did, just so happened to be at the end which i hadn't yet watched when i commented. My bad
I really wanted to like this game but there is too much micromanagement for me to actually enjoy it.
