Thanks! Very helpful! And huge congratulations to ASUS for delivering just ONE screw pack together with the B-550 F motherboard which has TWO M.2 slots. Your profit must be exploding because of the savings!!!
Thanks for this, didn't realize the standoff screws weren't a part of whatever SSD you buy and couldn't find the ones from my mobo for the life of me. Ordered some now and waiting on those. Saved me diving into my computer just to get stopped by a tiny little screw lol
I bought my computer pre built. So i guess, the faster M.2 slot is taken by the current SSD? I just bought a new, bbigger and faster SSD. Do i have to move the current to the slower slot? And install the new, faster into the upper slot?
My Motherboard came with second M.2. Slot. which is the only shielded with that plate. In their site labels that slot as "32Gb/s M.2 support "PCIe 3.0 x4 & Sata Mode" while it labels the other (uncovered slot) as "64Gb/s M.2 support "PCIe 4.0 x4 & Sata Mode". Anybody know the difference and why only the 2nd slot is shielded with that plate??? THanks. !!!
A bought a system recently with this motherboard, so the primary m.2 slot is taken with a Gen4 M.2 (Could support upto Gen 5 M.2 for the future correct?). Now my question I have an older 2 TB M.2 Gen3 Samsung 970Plus, it should work ok in the secondary M.2 slot near the bottom of the mother board correct? Thank you for explaining some basic things about the m.2 install. I have done M.2 install on my old ASUS TUF A15 2021 Laptop which was simple to install but scary, don't want to drop screws and it had no heat sinks for the SSD. But usually my SSD ran cool not too hot.
My ASUS manual don't say nuthin' about a rise, nor does the M.2 box which has no instructions. Luckily, one of the risers for the case seem to roughly fit once I figured out there are nuts to remove first.
Hi there, I'm installing a second ssd, and I'm a little confused about some things. I have the same motherboard, but my m.2_1 does not have the little built-in pad where you put the little square foam sticker, and it does not have a heat sink. Will it be bad if I install it without either of these things? Thank you sm!
Does the Motherboard b550m asus tuf pro II support the ssd sn770 1tb of western digital? I need help cause i couldn't find the ssd compatibility list on the internet
Do you think i am gonna be able to do this while a gpu and cpu is installed is there gonna be enough space for my to install it without disconnecting the gpu or cpu
I want to install a nvme in the second slot of my mobo I need a standoff right? I got a pre-built and second nvme slot has some lime mobo components in between where the screws would go and where the nvme would plug in just making sure as I don’t want anything to touch.

Glad you got it sorted out and thanks for watching.
I just installed mine without the standoff or the screw 🤦🏼♂️ the adhesive on the back of the heatsink should do fine, right..... right lol
@@Jester12036still working?

@@NorthernVikingEverydayhow do you enable the gen 4 ssd, I got it installed but it shows still on gen 3?
Thanks a ton, we're using the same ssd and everything! Made it super easy haha

Thanks for this, helped a lot. Have you got a link for the heatsink used?
Glad it was helpful! The heat sink came with my motherboard but I'm sure you can find them on Amazon.
if your nvme already has a heatsink do you just keep the motherboards heatsink off? thank you
Yes, you would only use one heat sink.
Thanks for all this help it’s just I couldn’t find a cover for it
Glad I could help!
hey bro
the 2 SSD slots are PCIe 4 ?
or one is PCIe 4 and the other PCIe 3?
If one is PCIe 4 and 3 which is the PCIe 4, the one above or below?
Thank
Pcie 4 is the closest to the cpu

The unshielded one supports more speed transfer, but I'm guessing you can use the shield on the first slot too
@@Icy_Capibara you actually cant which is kinda weird.
@@syabiljhd well i found it, they are written in the pcb
CREO QUE TU PLACA ES LA VERSION M-ATX, B550M
Nicee it comes with screws i was like my memory cards bending 😂😂
Thank you. Very helpful. How do you remove the drive after installing, as the clue pad is sticking to the drive?
It typically doesn't stick that tight that you can't pull it off.

Something like that. Closest m2 slot to cpu is for G4 and the lower one G3
Whats the bottom slot for then?

i have a b550m-a wifi II motherboard and i was confused on how to install the SSD because it did not come with stand offs😭
Thanks a lot!

to add most people say leave nvme sticker on (heatsink sticker remove)
my mp600 pro lpx corsair, is only getting 1300 speeds when it should be like 5000 read/write, any bios important bios settings?

Typically there aren't any compatibility issues with drive. It should work fine
@@NorthernVikingEveryday thank you !!!

You typically wouldn't need to remove the CPU, but sometimes you need to remove the GPU to access the nvme slot.

Yes, typically there would be some sort of standoff.

I have the b550-plus, if its not wifi, can that work too?
Do installing the m.2's disable any of the Sata ports? I want to run two MVNE but also a few SSD's
No you can run them simultaneously
the bottom m.2 slot disables sata 5 and 6 ports, the top doesn't disable any.
@@theraiden115 do you know which are those in the motherboard? I'm having problems recognising one ssd i had before installing the m.2
Is this the same for the B450 PLUS II?
What if you got a used b550 and it don't have that heat sink plate?
Same question for me
@@UnknownZ__ I ended up buying one off of Amazon to be on the safe side.

Hey man if youre using windows you might have to initialise the partitions first. Just look up a tutorial on youtube. Hope it helps 👍
Mine didn’t have a heat sink
Can you hook up hdd to this motherboard
Yes, you can with the Sata ports.
