There's simply isn't a weak spot anywhere - from the precise and clean instrumentation, the incredible vocal harmonization, and the genius of the pinpoint mixing that Tim has down to a science, F&F are the gold standard of cover bands. And they have the gift of making the covers sound better than the originals. And bless you Scott, you will be sorely missed. The F&Fs will have to "Carry On". And they will, with the inspirational memories of your musical gifts to the incomparable sound of a fantastic group.
Stephen Barncard assistant engineer for the original recording commented recently complimenting F&F on their vocals and attention to detail in their cover.
Great reaction to this!! Foxes and Fossils knocked it out of the park!!! I remember traveling with my parents in 1970 to see relatives in the northwest, and while we were in Seattle I heard this on the radio. I was 11 years old, and immediately said "wow, who is this?!!!". When we got back home after our vacation I took my allowance money I had saved up and my mom took me to the mall so I could buy Deja Vu. To this day I think it's one of the top ten rock albums ever recorded. Again, really glad you reacted to this F & F cover!!!!
I think when David Crosby took a little time out from being a jerk, he was quoted as saying he was not good enough to be in this group. That is quite a compliment as CSN harmonies are legendary. F&F are the best vocal band of the last 15 years. You just can't do it any better than that. And the instrumentals are all great and the mix is great.
I am a lucky guy. I will see them live Dec. 30th. Got my tickets, just a TWELVE HOUR DRIVE! But it'll be worth it to see these wonderful people. Perfect reaction BTW.
We're all out of superlatives for this band. They have the midas touch. And their vocals are golden. I love these people. It won't be the same without Scott King on bass but as long as they have the other fossils and the foxes' voices it will still be gold!
CSNY is right in F&F’s wheelhouse and Carry On highlights their incredible harmonies and sound. That this was done so quickly in memory of Scott and on such a sad day, well Thank You One Old Unhinged Musician
Foxes and Fossils are really on a different level. I am going to get screamed at for this next comment, but....I think they may actually do this BETTER than CSN. I know that is really impossible, because the original performers always set the standard for a song. But these guys have now been "improving" on others songs for almost 15 years. I dare anyone to listen to ANY of their covers and say they weren't good. If you do, it is simply because you don't like the song no matter who does it.

The best arrangement and performance of this song I have ever heard. The harmony stacks are amazing. To have Scott's bass line in their is such a tribute to the musician he was, considering CSNY was not a big bass group. Tim's board work on the mixing is as usual impeccable.
Thank you for your continued reactions to music. I have been following Foxes and Fossils for the past 4 years and they are an incredibly talented band. I was saddened to hear of the death of Scott King. His bass flowed like the life blood of many of these covers. He will be missed, and I extend my condolences to his family and friends.
On top of all the other superlatives, I always like that you can see how much fun they're having. People doing music just because they want to are so cool!
If haven’t heard Helplessly Hoping by them. Live, yet unbelievable. This is a group so good that Cat Stevens thanked them for keeping the integrity of his song Peace Train.
If you are totally into classic rock (as a fossil such as myself is), I would imagine going to an F & F show would be like going to a concert where all of your favorite groups were going to be on stage playing their greatest hits. Love those guys. They are great talents and their voices harmonize like a choir of angels.
I’m going back and listening to some I missed along the way. This band is so excellent because individually they are all so amazing. I was fortunate enough to catch them back when they first did the other CSN song, Suite: Judy Blue Eyes years ago, and have followed them since. Like you, I’m a big fan of CSN, and I have been since Woodstock. They were brand new then. Nash had just left his band in the UK, The Hollies, to start with CSN. Anyway, got off the track, this was awesome. I think the guitar player is a rock star. He was incredible in the other CSN song too. Great review Ed. Oh, I can’t remember if I told you before, but the family members in this band are the lead singer and the really cute blonde girl, his daughter, standing to the left of him, right screen when it shows them all together here. I know you two had mentioned it in the Suite video.
