Rain, rain, rain, that’s what the salmon angler wants to see in July. Well, in Donegal definitely. And we had enough of that stuff these last couple of days.
With Peter McGroary and Dietrich Bohnhorst

Den Lachs auf die Bambusrute zu fangen war ganz sicher in Erlebnis und auch an das hohe Gewicht von dem Ding gewoehnt man sich schnell, werde wohl noch oefter damit losgehen. @@DietrichBohnhorst No! What a marvellous film. Familiar faces and in some cases, just familiar voices. I worked in Pall Mall and was only in Alnwick once. I ended up sitting beside Jim Hardy. He found it difficult to adapt to the fact that a paddy was in the Hardy’s mix back then.
There was no such difficulty with the boys from Alnwick. I forget names but the voices came back to me and I have to admit, brought a tear to the eye.
They used to enjoy pointing out the differences between ‘Us up north. Us Celts. And those soft southern bastards’. I used to deal with the factory in Alnwick every day and I think they preferred dealing with the paddy more than the Londoners.
Those days, like the days of good salmon fishing, are finished I think.
But I am privileged to have had the experience and to have been there before Hardys stopped being Hardys.

Nice fish Dietrich ! When you found yourself tangled in that bush reminded me of a similar incident I had on a river . I saw a nice fish rise on the other side of a blackberry bush that was leaning heavy over the bank. I moved close to it to hide myself only to get tangled in that horrible bush , I did manage to get my fly in front of the fish but I lost control of my slack line (thanks to the wind) and it got into that bush. It was full of thorns which made it difficult to get line out or reach and the fish snubbed my awful presentation due my sudden battle with a black berry bush . A few punctures and scratches and a lost leader later I resumed my fishing but far away from that damn bush. At least your bush was not full of thorns.
