Does ATOTO supply a ribbon cable extension for radio holes 8"+ below the dash?
No
The wifi nor the gps antenna need to be above the dash. Both will work and be A LOT cleaner looking if mounted under the top plastic of the dash. As long as there is no metal blocking them, both are able to get strong signal through plastic.

I was wondering about this. Will save a lot of effort not having to remove all that trim to mount high on the windshield.

I saw you did a video on the S6 in a Ford Econoline. Do you think this S8 will work in the econoline?
Yes. It is still a Double Din insert box. The screen sits outside of the box, so it is a little more complicated to put in, you saw if you watched the video.
I can tell that at my age, I do appreciate that larger screen size.
Thanks so much for the video I am upgrading from the s8 7" to this one as I had many issues with the previous one so I am giving Atoto another chance. This is going to be a crazy install in a Tacoma but thanks for showing how to remove the screen as I have to in order to fit this in my truck
You are welcome. Some commenters on this video have stated that newer models of the S8 have been improved with a better way to remove the screen than what I show in this video. I have not seen them but that us what some commenters have said.

I can confirm with the 2023 model it's a push in connection instead of the ribbon dangling there so it's much easier to re hook the screen up 😊

Did you have to do any calibration after plugging screen back on? I had to remove my screen for install/mounting. Hooked it back up and it turns on and the bottom buttons work but touch screen is not responding. I had tested it out before I took the screen off and it worked just fine.
I think that you may have not gotten the screen ribbon connected properly.
@@thejungleexplorer I removed just now and re installed and it’s still not responding. It’s just the little hook on each side correct and then push the flap down?
How have the solder crimps held up? I've heard mixed reviews.
No problem myself. You have to make sure you see the solder melt. Some people just heat enough the shrink the rubber but not enough the melt the solder. I heat until I see the solder turn to liquid and spread over the wire.
How does the in system gps work?
It works just fine. I have had no problems with it.

That's weird that the ribbon cable doesn't detach from the monitor itself instead of from the head unit side. I swear I've seen other reviews for this unit that detached it from the monitor (and it was much easier to do: No screwdriver required).
Were you able to get the steering wheel controls to work with this unit? What other vehicle-specific features were integrated into the unit (for example, door ajar, climate control info, etc)?
I have heard other units can do it too. All I know idea the unit I received had to be done the way I did it.
As far as controls go, there adaptors available for all of those thing. My truck does not have them.
Were you able to get a cell phone simm card to work in the ATOTO S8? If so, can you let me know how and which carrier?

I just bought the Atoto S8 but I am having problems with the volume, which even in Volume 1 is exaggeratedly high that it is even impossible to talk. I have a Hyundai Santa Fe which comes with a factory amplifier. Could my problem be here? Any suggestions that you can give to the technician who installed the multimedia center for me?
Sorry brother, I wish I could help. I don't have a clue what is causing your issue. My best guess is that it has to do with your car, and not the Atoto. . I would try asking for help in a Hyundai forum like this one.

What about connecting an amp power wire to the ignition switch wire on a 2002 Silverado?

Yes. But the amp turn on wire from the head unit is a better choice because it will turn off the amp when the HU power is off.

I know one important feature ATOTO offers is the ability to read automotive codes and diagnostic info for your vehicle. Does Disiata offer automotive diagnostics? I do not know.
Hi, I bought this unit using the link in the description. Amazon sent me a unit but it's not the one in your video. The box says ATOTO S8 Premium Model Number:S8G2114PM(3G+32G). I only realized I got the wrong one after I connected all the wires and tried to install the unit. Can you help me get the right unit? Thank you.

We're you able to retain your steering wheel controlls? I understand you can get a controller for the 2007-13 silverado
My truck does not have steering controls, but it is possible with the right adapter.
What bezel kit did you use?
After some time how do you like it? I have the gen2 in the 7 inch and it's not wireless android auto!!! Also it won't keep with the time and txt don't show up on screen which I thought it did
It's okay. It freezes up sometimes if running a map program for a long time. I like the 10 inch screen when navigating.
@Andrew Boyd if you update the firmware, it has wireless android auto. Reach out to atoto with exact model number of your stereo and they will guide you to updated firmware and instructions.

You don't need to have an ignition control wire for the s8 to work you can tap any of you vehicles accessory wires and it will turn on the unit when you turn the key or you can add a tap to your fuse box

Looks like with those mounting screws you should be able to mount the unit in deeper to give it a less pushed out look if I'm not mistaken

@Jungle Explorer could you do me a huge favor? Can you measure the distance from the furthest bottom of the screen up to the where the bottom of where the double din starts. I'm trying to figure out how it's going to fit on my dash, I thought this model was adjustable up and down but I have learned it is not. Thank you!!

@Jungle Explorer wow I really appreciate you doing that for me!! I was more trying to see where the bottom of the screen ends up vertically compared to the double din insert. Just to see if it's going to cover my heat/ac controls as this unit doesn't have the vertical adjustability like some of the other units. But I really do appreciate the time you took to do that!
Just an observation...
Both antennas were incorrectly positioned. Any GPS antenna should be fixed to a flat surface with the dome part facing the sky. Any wifi/ gsm antenna should be positioned in a vertical orientation with the wire exiting from the bottom ( behind the A pillar trim)... this would give you best possible signal at all times.

I place my on top of the head unit temporarily while I wait a week for my rer camera adapter to come in and so far GPS and wifi work great

Great video. How much did u pay for the unit? How do u like it so far?
It was given t me to create the installation video. It is okay. I like the big screen. I pretty much only use it as a radio and navigation device. It has a couple of problems though. As I showed in the video, I could not install it without disconnecting the ribbon tape and that was a huge pain. A few months after the installation the whole top one inch of the screen stopped being touch-sensitive. Everything still works but I can't access the pull-down function or the buttons along the top. I did some searching and I am not the only one with this problem, so I don't know if it is because I did not reconnect the ribbon tape right, or something else. Another thing is that it sometimes freezes up, especially when running the Sygic Offline Navigation app. It runs Google Maps okay, but that requires a data connection to your phone and that is not the easiest thing to set up. The main thing that irks me is that there is almost no support from Atoto and the company has not released any kind of update for the device.
So in short. I like the big screen and I love it for navigating. The radio works well. Would I buy this unit to install it after using it? Nope.
@@thejungleexplorer er, you do know you can down load google maps so you can use them offline? Also, setting up your phone to use as an internet connection is extremely simple! They provide several different options. The easiest is to use Bluetooth and it will connect with your phone as soon as you turn it on! Further, if you add a reverse camera and a dash cam, this becomes a very capable unit. I get my emails, use the hands free for phone calls, watch TH-cam and Netflix when camping etc. it sounds to me like you haven’t even scratched the surface of what this device can do.
This was a basic install video. Yes, there is almost unlimited other subjects that could have been covered, but that was not the purpose of this video.
YOU NEED A PAC AUDIO LCGM29 SMART HARNESS IN ORDER TO HAVE A ACCESORY CABLE ALSO GIVES YOU WHEN YOU TURN OFF VEHICLE , STAYS ON UNTIL THE DOOR OPENS..
This is a basic installation video. My Silverado is a WT model and does not have any of these extras that are found in the more luxury models. There are actually many different kits and harnesses that can be used or are needed in some cases depending on what a person wants, desires, or needs. Some cars have steering wheel controls, others a BOSS speakers system, some have OnStar, etc, etc, etc. This video is 32 minutes long already and I made it as short as possible. To create an install video that covers every possible configuration in detail would have to be many hours long.

This is an Android system, not and Apple system.
Fyi there is a screw on top of the little bracket to slide the screen off
Mine was a pre release beta model and did not have that screw. As a result of my video, they upgraded the newer units to make it easier to install.

I figured out that if you want to remove the display, well the easier way is to remove all 3 top screws and it comes right out without the cable still attached to the display. The cable itself actually detached from the main component. Anyway hope it helps
Also those 3 top screws is all you need to take out to get that display panel off

Does it have apple carplay
Yes, built right in to the radio (no dongles required). You'll need to connect your phone to the appropriately labeled USB cable and select the Car Connect app, i think it's called.

@@hmata3 With a firmware update it will support wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play. I emailed Atoto and they confirmed this.

After a month touch screen stop working. Since I had it locked, I can't use key in my pin. Lol
It might be a bad connection on the ribbon cable. Try reconciliation the ribbon cable and see if it starts working again.
Use a mouse in the USB port. Should work.
Looks like you didn't bother to read manual first, what you did with that screen ribbon is criminal, I wonder how many people broke their unit follow your poor advice!!!
If you unscrew three top screws instead side ones - correct way - fitting is like drawer with plug and socket!
Please post a link to a video demonstrating the exact procedure you described for the exact model.
exactly.. no need to take the ribbon off. Instruction manual clearly says to take those three top screws off to detach the display. That's easy process. Please go though the manual first before posting a video on youtube for popularity and then misguiding people.
