What is the left foot braking on the straights for?
@@Aristocrafied I'll be corrected if I'm wrong. It's to check the brakes are still there. This sounds silly but the discs hum (vibrate) at speed pushing the pads away from the disc, so by pumping the pedal it gets the pads back closer to the disc.
@@deanhoward1374 wow.. that's actually a thing? Is that like a design flaw? I wouldn't want that happening ever!
@@Aristocrafied if you drive a car with disc brakes then this happens to you (albeit less extreme). It's nothing mechanical removing the pads from the disc.

This is how every driving videos should be. Nice POV, pedals cam,and NO MUSIC.
Weird TH-cam Name awesome! Glad you enjoyed and we'll keep doin this!
Weird TH-cam Name eurobeat😂😂😂
yes so thru so it can also teach the up coming drivers
I know that maybe no one cares, but i was the 1000th like for the first time in my life 🤯
Eurobeat wouldn't hurt
Gorgeous, I love manual transmissions, my favorites
Geovanny German thanks for enjoying!
Can we do this speed gear change in normal cars
There’s nothing else but manual transmissions in real driving
yeah dude. we drive the real car.
Me too
I took a racing course when I was young. To this day, 45 years later, I still test my brakes before a turn or stop light.
Great footwork!
I was wondering why he was doing that. Thanks.
Cant speak for him…but he’s almost certainly not “testing the brakes”…but is giving the tiniest of touches to prevent any pad “knock back”
I thought it was to heat them up
@@kenandrieling5885 it’s a two fold thing…..little heat, make sure they’re there
@@tbGTR what is a knock back? Thnx!
His hand shifted like the third pedal wasn’t even there. So smooth. Gotta up my game if I’m wanna drive in sepang.
Thanks, one just need more practice to get there, good luck!
1:40 He's pressing the clutch pedal all the way, at the beginning to the end. The clutch plate would get worn fast. 🤣
I suck at driving because it's my first time learning the manual, These videos always gives me the motivation to never stop learning
you got it! just takes time, I am learning too
That was fantastic. Thank you for sharing your technique. I have a lot to learn but the great camera angles are very helpful.
+Brad Noah great! Very glad it's helped you in some way!
Lightning fast shifting! Your heel and toe is preety amazing!
You haven't seen the legendary drift king keichii tsuchiya's heel and toe yet then my friend
He has an OF if youre into his feet
@@cuddlemuffin.9545wtf😂
the skills involved here in hitting the corners right, shifting at the right time and quickly, using techniques like heel toe and seeing if the pressure is built up in the hydraulics of the brakes, a pleasure to watch
That’s how it looks when I drive to work. Minus the fancy shoes. ☠️
Got taught how to heel and toe, plus double-declutch, as a fourteen year old; nearly sixty years later I still do it.
Anyone else bothered by him resting his foot on the clutch?
yes but if it made a difference his clutch would be ruined after 1 lap. hes just taking up the slack
In normal driving that's a bad idea
for normal driving its a terrible idea, but his clutch is most likely set up different than a normal one.
I also rest leg foot on clutch.
I can hear my dad yelling somewhere there
why am i watching this. I don't have a car
swampman who care?
Yeah but you have a swamp. So who's the real winner here?
You have donky
If you need car. I have balatcar.
You're watching this because you like cars or racing? Maybe you should get a car 🤔
Those downshifts were so damn good!! I just wanna learn
Heel and toe is not needed these days. You can program ECU to do it for you.
@@JohnKickboxing lol that’s boring
@@ddylanthomson 👌
@@JohnKickboxing can you do that with a clutch?
@@donnie9001 You still need to push the clutch pedal when shifting down. The ECU does the task by revving the engine for you. It's like the Nissan 350Z does.
my friend made me watch this and i must say im impressed
Grace Ridge awesome! Happy to know
Lol. Of course u are. U aint shit blondie
Yeah, your face clearly say that 😂🤣
Im still practicing, every time I try to heel toe I accidentally pump the brakes just a bit more when going for the blip
+mamba109 try putting less of your toes on the brake pedal, that will relieve unintended pressure on the brake when executing H&T
You aren’t calm enough. You are concerned for whatever reason. Best way to learn heel toe is to go to an empty country road and just practice a million downshifts while just going straight. Don’t even think about a corner yet.
Cani use heel toe in daily life?
Sure, you should try it
@@KevinMsyah Absolutely! Once you get it down it is also safer because it allows you to be in the correct gear at all times instead of going to neutral and 'jerk shifting' the downshift.
What a great control in the car, like that shifting a lot man!! Keep doing a great videos like that!!
God, that's so beautiful!! True art. Doing this on a bike all the time but never thought of trying on a car.
Get a manual car. It's like an art or dance. Now is the time. Future generations won't experience it. They'll be drinking beer in driverless cars.
Love the heel toe-down shifting am seeing
The truth is perfect, the video is so important because it teaches the most basic driving techniques, which is to match the rotation of the engine with that of the box. It is very sad to see videos of competition, rallies, circuit, etc. in which many pilots do not do it or do not know how to do it. It is essential to do so in order not to alter the coefficient of friction when braking. Great.
I learned how to drive a manual just by seeing the footwork nice video👍
That is my main reason why i am watching this lol to learn manual ..
Sammmeeeee
I already know how to drive manual, I'm just seeing the speed that these people let out the clutch and how they down shift 👍
The clutch doesnt work the same on these types of cars, on normal daily car's.. letting go of the clutch like this will fuck up your engine and stall it... it fucking bites and bites hard
I love the foot cams, my favorite was Senna in the loafers driving the NSX
Actually inspired my this video and started practicing heel and toe. Nice work!
That initial brake test is so important a lot of people could have saved themselves from accidents if they took it seriously.... anyways incredible footwork❤️🔥
What's a brake test exactly?
@@DinnerForkTongue they always check their brakes before a braking zone to heat them up and if the brake pads get out of place so they're assured their brakes wont go beans
@@harrycop7944
Ok, but that's not what I asked. What IS a brake check/test? How is it performed? Slamming on the brake pedal? Giving it a pump or two?
@@DinnerForkTongue a pump or two
@@DinnerForkTongue It's actually trying out the brakes in a non-critical section before a braking zone. If you realize your brakes don't work down the straights you can still slow down but if your brakes don't work in the braking zone you will crash.
That footwork is high class
Thnaks!
Great shifting
Geovanny German thanks!
after watching this vid, i apply it on the road trying to impressed them but im oversteer the wheel then hit a tree, but they impressed that they still alive
nazmie hamzah oh nooo, hows the tree?
luckily the tree is fine thanks for asking
hahahahahhahahahahahhaha
@@zerotohundred hahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Anyone care to explain the brake tap a second or 2 before actually braking for the turn?
Why is he putting his foot on the brake with his left foot while accelerating?
Greg Sinnett that's just to prep the pads before actual braking
to increase brake temperature before a hard corner. cold brakes in a corner can result in instability and unpredictable behavior.
It's called Pad Knockoff they do it a lot in V8 Supercars and explain it very well too mainly because when you get on the kerbs or especially on a race track the front pads tend to knock away from the discs due to the shock of going all out on a race track so to bring the pads closer to the discs in order to avoid a long pedal or ending up with more brake pressure at the rear and causing the rear wheels to lock you push the front brakes back in place so you have good and firm braking before the corner
Greg Sinnett making sure he still has brake pressure
fabrice Whincup thanks for the explanation. I was wondering this same thing.
Thanks for contributing over 300K views and enjoying the onboard video!, So where are you guys from?
+kyle thanks! well you need not a fancy car to start enjoying H&T. There is no real pressure out on the clutch while driving. You may notice it sinks, yes but that's the dead zone. He is literally resting his feet on the race clutch but not pressing it. It takes effort for the clutch to budge. So that part that sinks is basically just air.
If you noticed, he ever so gently primes / presses the clutch just before shifting, just to eliminate the dead zone for perfect shifts. Hope this helps

Amazing ...I like this
How incredibly satisfying!
This dude is a BOSS. Bad with the heel toe shifting...💯
this comment is so bad 🐱👤
Great video. It teaches good technique for race car driving. I tried this on my Evo X, racing around my neighborhood at night when there was less traffic. But it was hard to heel and toe, as the turns were mostly 90°. I had to push the brakes hard to slow down enough, making it difficult to heel and toe when down shifting, as my foot on the brakes were so far down I couldn't rev match with my heel. But racing like this taught me a new technique. Now I'm faster around corners by needing to brake less, using the clutch to slow down the motor after downshifts and using the momentum to go aroung corners, causing less loss of tire grip and car control because of too much gas, and only giving gas when loss of momentum if felt, givin better car control and speed.
This is art!

That’s a really nice sim setup, wish my cockpit looked that nice.

It’s so much easier to learn manual by watching race cars drivers then some dude in a brz
Idk why i really like heel n toe downshift engine sound
+kam 46 you're not alone!
That sounds is called a rev match and it is life. =)
heel toe for rev matching down shifts like a boss
slightly tipping the brake pedal when going in straights is to check if the brakes work right ?
I think he is warming the brakes to work well.
Starting to learn heel toe myself. It's definitely a challenge 👍
Practice as much as you can, downshift rev matching gears helps to improve your heel and toe so try doing that more as well
I can see that the driver goes through the gears in order when he downshifts. Wouldn’t be okay to just jump the gears to the desired gear + H&T when driving at a turn? Without going through them one by one, that is.
You can, either way works, gear by gear is just more harmonious that's all
Do you have just the audio? This video calms my daughters baby down as soon as we press play😂
😂😂 Are you serious?? For android devices you can Google for Tubemate. Can download yt links in either video or audio
I am new to driving, why does he accelerate a bit when braking near a corner is it so to keep the engine rpm a bit higher for the upcoming downshift or does higher rpm has something to do with corner exit speed? or it has to do with something else?
Do you mean when he accelerates with his heel? Yes, it's to match revs and downshift smoothly so as to not upset the car.
@@christophermeraz-mata oh okay, thank you

Great footage!
The only point this elite driver is used to rest his foot on the clutch which is a bad idea and also impact the car performance/speed.
Ge probably don’t care since they have plenty mechanics at the track 😂🤣. But yeah i was wondering the same thing
I dont think he is resting his foot on the clutch. Maybe he is trying to control oversteer with the clutch when powering out of the corner, just like moto GP bikers do? Would definitely be a better idea then going of the throttle at the end of the corner
He keeps his foot on the clutch pedal, yes, but he is NOT engaging the clutch at all when he does that.
It's not a good idea to be honest. But In this car the pedal requires more force to operate, there's no pressure applied so nothing is happening. Then there's the pedal deadzone to get by before the clutch even disengages. Anyway Don't follow this example, instead check our other Heel & Toe video featured on our channel homepage
This is why I can't give up my manual transmission.,
I'm learning clutch work I've gotten the idea down to work in less than 10 mints now I gotta keep mastering it and soon I'll drive RWD to drift!
great to hear that! good luck!
Uff excellent 👏👏👌
Why you randomly press on the brake for 1 sec while still pressing the gas pedal, is this to test the brakes before the actual braking or to stabilize the trajectory of the car ?
test
It’s incredible how I make these same movements in gt7.. games have gotten amazing.
The taps on the brakes are to warm up the pads and the disc?
Is so amazing 😻
how they made the clutch pedal not so stiff is that clutch pump kit or others?
So thrilling drive. Does anyone else also almost only listen to heavy music like Metallica or Delta Parole when they drive?
I’m in the habit of keeping my foot on the clutch, but I don’t just press it, it’s just that my leg is on top like on the video, is this bad as you think as a racer?
You'll be fine although It's always better to rest the foot somewhere between gear changes, not just for comfort but as a kind of a brace.
This is how I go to school, except the driving and the car
real man use 3 pedals
Real men have three legs.

素晴らしい運転とシフトチェンジですね! 無駄が無いです!
I always thought driving in the right side everything would be reserved like shifting and the pedals. Good to know it's exactly driving on the left side, it's just you're on the right seater
But the shifter is in reserve position
@@rotua98the shifter is still the same as a rhd, it’s the exact same as the driver just moving over to the passenger seat

Am guessing this 3sge dual vvti engine has a ton of work done on it. Also seems the final drive ratio is changed right. Are u still using vvti?
Why did they put their foot on the gas pedal while braking?
I really want to master those heel-toe downshifting. 😍
You can do it 💪
I flipped my VW bus doing this, but i was okay. I had a bowl of Coco Pebbles cereal afterward and salvaged all the precious antiques I was delivering to the lady. Many were broken, but she understood.
Are coco pebbles like coco rice crisps?
@@zerotohundred ....Indeed they are similar, but coco pebbles are shaped differently. Like very tiny, rough surfaced, chips which are concave on one side and convex on the other.
I drive a ‘15 Fiesta ST. I am well practiced at H&T but can only do it in my wide soles shoes when driving the ST.
Ah, we call it koko krunch here, they look nothing like pebbles??
Try moving your feet more to the right of the pedal when braking. Use less toes if need be, you can reach the throttle then
@@zerotohundred .... I do, but the pedal spacing is less than ideal in the Fiesta. H&T was never a problem in my ‘04 Mini.
If you can shift this quickly the benefits in raw shifting time from a sequential gearbox wouldn't appear to be too crazy. Of course, you could shift without losing boost in a turbocharged car and stuff like that, though..
At low speeds I like to rest the edge of my foot on the brake and roll my foot on the throttle. I think that is the best way to learn. But if you are going quickly that method is unsafe because you might slip you foot off the brake or miss the throttle. If you have your whole front half of your foot on the brake and then rotate you heel to the throttle then you can have max brake pressure and control and blip the throttle harder. It takes lots of practice to get right but its really fun and improves your driving skills/car control heaps.
oOKAMAKAYAOo thanks for chipping in and excellent point there
Aren’t you supposed to keep your foot on the dead pedal while shifting? Doesn’t riding the clutch and revving the engine ware the synchromesh or something. I’m not a race car driver tho just wondering
It's not encouraged, but just as long as the clutch isn't activated, it's a okay
@@zerotohundred yeah, I’m pretty sure it would take years of doing it to wreck the clutch lol
when ur down shifting multiple gears how come u go down sequentially rather than just going straight to the gear u want?
Just preference that's all, skipping gears also good
why was he tapping the brake at 0:23 ?
He is warming them up because the brakes have poor efficiency below operating temperature. On F1 cars the brakes don’t perform best until they are hotter than 400 degrees Celsius.
he’s either checking them or pushing the pad closer to the rotor

to pump the brake fluid
What's the 'E' button for? Eject?

Why does he keep the foot on the clutch with light pressure?
Edit, I've read other comments and got my answer 👍
Should never rest the left foot on the clutch pedal, it will wear out the clutch disc pretty fast and overheat the transmission and engine.
It would be much better if the sound wasn't delayed like it is but cool video
I would use my left foot on the brake along with the right
Any article about this car ???? Which suspension, sways, braces, bushings, alignment,...
I'm only starting to understand manual driving, but seen tons of videos on how it works. But in racing, or drivint at high speeds its okay to leave your foot resting on the clutch?,
yeah it probably wastes less time transitioning from the normal rest spot, to clutch but im just asking
Best try not to, but just as long as you know you are not at all loading the pedal, there's really nothing wrong
Is he braking and accelerating at the same time??? If so, why?
The accelerator pedal is for rev matching
I am trying to learn quick shifting like you do in this clip. I know the basics in 2-3 days i will essentially master it 😅
