Although I would love a Jenn podcast, I would hate for her focus to split and thus taking away from her TH-cam! She's producing quality and I think that has a lot to do with keeping her work manageable and not overdoing it!
@@suzifatke6902 i feel like if she did it on her extra "work time" or between creative cycles or "just because" like emma chamberlain, it would be successful for her!! because i would listen to her talk about anything and everything -- she's like an older sister!! maybe a good set of subjects would be for when she wants to dive deep into deep topics like life lessons
I am binge-watching a lot of your videos. You are terrific at speaking. You don't use filler words. You pause using the word 'so' but it's a purposeful pause to collect your thoughts. It's addicting to listen to people who speak so eloquently. I haven't read a physical book in a while. I try to complete an audiobook per month. When I listen, I color, draw, do gentle yoga, or go on a walk. It's multitasking, but with my brain on autopilot so I can focus on the book. I am not an audio learner, but I find the way people speak during books readings striking. I admire it even more when the book is read by the author. However, I do need to get back into physical books.
You're that one TH-camr that I wish to have a podcast! I could really listen to you all day. Your choice of words and the way you deliver a message is astounding! I am inspired by your growth each year. ♥(can't believe I've been a subscriber since clothesencounter with Sarah, time flies so fast! lol)
Thank you for sharing! I've read Storyworthy, but have since stopped doing my homework. This has inspired me to go back to it. The book I am currently reading, which I can already tell will be in the top 10 books I've ever read, is called Team of Rivals. It's about Abraham Lincoln, who was a master of seeing the potential in people and building teams who could accomplish incredibly difficult tasks. It has radically changed the way I think about leadership and personal growth. I know you will enjoy it, Jenn!
Only Jenn could make me want to read a textbook. "The Bottlenecks of the 21st Century" only has 3 reviews on Goodreads... a sleeper! Also, "Storyworthy" is one of my all-time favorite books after reading it from one of your recs! Sooo good. One of the books I bring up and recommend to others the most. Homework for Life has been a huge game-changer for me over the years
The only thing stolen was those workers you made work in sweatshops for Eggie and it failed because you are a scammer to people. Including these comments which we are freely are allowed to make as they are facts!
i love how she explains all the books and actually gives recommendations i've never heard of. they all seem so interesting and i'll be sure to incorporate it into my reading this year!! thank you jenn
Jenn- I always feel like when I see your video come up that it's time for me to pause whatever it is I am doing, sit down, enjoy and listen to you, and then resume my day. I think these books and the knowledge that you've gained from them are so easy to observe in your work. I always learn something new or experience a nice emotional connection when I watch your videos, and I think that's something specific to you as a creator. I'm excited to learn from these books as well.
Thank you so much for this, Brittany. I appreciate your full attention when watching my videos and it makes me glow knowing that you find them helpful.
I grew up watching you Jenn. I haven't watched you in a while -- but coming back to your video and just hearing your voice again made me feel a bit more at ease (after a super anxious day). Your magic touch and way of soothing your viewers has never left you and your channel.
Jenny you are really one of the rare content-creators who look amazing and have extra-ordinary minds too. I’m always amazed how you can talk so engaging about books and connect it to your deep thoughts & visions 😊
I love reading for fun but being intentional with what I read has been a big goal of mine for the new year so I’m definitely picking up a few of these recommendations so thank you 😊 also that chip analogy for social media is so spot on it’s insane!
If you’re reading, it’s fun 🤷🏽♀️ I typically read one “light” book and one less-light book at the same time; the substantive book is easier to get through and the lighter book feels less like fluff. I read faster that way, for some reason
Love this! I would also looove to know what books you have read for wellness. You are so insightful and seem like you have ur life together(i know you do therapy) but if there’s any books you felt have helped you, i’d love to know!
Also Jenn as a watcher since I was i elementary school and I am in second year uni, thank you so much for always inspiring me to do better and I have witnessed such tremendous growth within you through your journey so know that you are doing great!! You are also glowing and I am so glad you are doing mentally better🤍🤍
Got myself an e-reader for christmas because i wanted to reignite the love i once had for reading books! Had to stop because of my eyesight progressively getting worse when i was younger and looking back, it feels as if i lost a huge part of my identity. Additionally, i really want to broaden my perspective and learn new things. Just finished my first fiction read of the year and i absolutely loved it! I'm going back to all of your past book recommendation videos and this one to find my next read. Super excited to get back into reading!
jenn! i picked up reading for fun in 2021 due to watching all your books every year and the way you talk about books makes any book sound good! it also motivated me to start a booktube and i've found such a great community here on youtube. adding these all to my TBR, always look forward to when you post a book related video!
Would love recommendations that have helped you in specific areas of your life compiled, Jenn! Such as books for parenting/motherhood, entrepreneurship, creativity, etc. You're such a role model💛
My partner and I have lived TV-free for just over a year now and I LOVE IT!! My god it’s so good just not having shit playing in the background all the time or using it as a distraction when we’re bored. We still have a laptop to watch movies on when we want to, but it’s awesome to not just sit down and automatically turn the tv on. Everything you’ve said is so true!
Hi Jen! Thank you for keeping us curious. Your videos are always a go-to when I find myself in a reading rut. I highly recommend The Body Keeps Score - written by a psychiatrist, it talks about how the role of trauma in psychiatric illness has changed over the past 20 years; what we have learned about the ways the brain is shaped by traumatic experiences; how traumatic stress is a response of the entire organism and how that knowledge needs be integrated into healing practices. The author speaks to trauma survivors - think war vets and victims of sexual abuse - to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure. It is a wonderful piece of literature I highly recommend to everyone!
I loved “Stolen Focus”! Another book that might (maybe?) interest you is “24/6: The Power of Unplugging One Day a Week”. I read that one a year before “Stolen Focus” and “Essentialism” and I feel I need to re-read it now because that one actually gives suggestions for how to tackle the problems with focus, technology, and the search for connection through acts we can commit to everyday.
Thanks, Jen! The year has just begun and I have a solid list of books to checkout! For anyone interested in climate change and the planet's natural systems... I have some recommendations :) 1. The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells was my "red pill" book. It is certainly not an optimistic account of global climate change. I am an optimist myself, but I also want to know the whole truth. 2. Climate Change, What Everyone Needs to Know by Joseph Romm - I read this book during one of my classes in university, "Managing Sustainability in Business." It's written in a simple, yet detailed, Q&A style format which helps my brain absorb the complexity of climate change. 3. The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan - This one is more related to food systems but is EXCELLENT in detailing why the U.S. food system is the way it is (from our corn-dependency, complicated and inhumane meat and dairy industries, etc). His writing style is also very interesting. 4. The Carbon Almanac - A book about energy. What is carbon, how do we use it, and how it impacts us and the planet. Many graphics and useful charts + tons of resources! And if you're still reading this and interested in this topic... other resources: - Attend a Climate Fresk workshop online (climatefresk.org) - Check out the Green Jobs Board IG account & LinkedIn page + subscribe to the newsletter to receive regular job opportunity updates - Climatebase.org is also an excellent resource for job opportunities
You are very good at sharing things with us that you are learning on your journey. I could sense your heart and good intentions, which is so rare in this manipulative world.
Hi Jenn! I started reading Storyworthy on your recommendation. I’ve just finished the author’s story about walking his dog, Kaleigh, in the middle of the night, in the “Homework for Life” section. It brought me to tears. Thanks so much for directing us to this wonderful book!
1. Amusing ourselves to death 2. Stolen focus 3. Man’s search for meaning 4. Recapture the rapture 5. The bottlenecks of the 21st century 6. Storyworthy
I just searched "Jenn Im books" earlier to revisit your recommendations. Was watching one of your book vids and then bam! Got this notification 🤣 what a coincidence. Thanks Jenn!
What a great list! I am currently reading storyworthy and i totally agree with your reflections on homework for life. Ive only been doing it for a couple of weeks but its made me much more confident and helped me realise i have valuable experiences everyday. Im also recording one second of my life everyday for 2023 which is helping in a similar way. Ive recently read the alchemist which is a short story/fable about following your personal legend and little anecdotes about destiny. Bigger and better books on my bookshelf for 2023!! 😊😊
This is what sets you apart from your friend TH-camrs (no offense to those TH-camrs because I still watch all of them!) You are interesting and have SUBSTANCE because you’re constantly educating yourself (and us!) about all kinds of things. I feel like you kind of pulled apart from the crowd for me, maybe 2 or 3 years ago. Yes, the videography and editing on your videos are great, but so are some of your fellow TH-camrs. What really sets you apart is that you’re vulnerable, therefore relatable, and to top it off, you love bettering yourself and telling us about what you do to that end. Thanks for being someone I love watching!❤
I love this! I really liked your last suggestion and the one about technology. I love your book reviews in general and I would love it if you read and gave your insight on The Body Keeps a Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk. I’m currently reading this one and it’s not the easiest reads considering it’s about trauma, but it’s super educational and healing! One of my 2023 resolutions is to finish reading this book!
Love your new hair style! The colour and the style really suit you. Your book review is always interesting and informative. I especially liked you saying technology as a cherry on top!
Jenn I’ve watched you for a very long time… and you have grown to become more and more eloquent with every video. I loved this and will be adding two of the books onto my TBR!
I’ve been looking for ways to broaden my views on the world, and looking at topics more outside of my own experiences since I tend to introspect a lot and can forget there’s a whole wide world out there that I want to learn about - so this topic of book recommendations couldn’t be any better! I’ve always admired your mind, curiosity, and perspectives, and will definitely check out these books once I finish my small pile of to-be-reads on my kindle and floor 😅 Thank you! Here’s to a hopefully great new year with hopefully new learning and growth
I wouldn't look to her as she is a fraud. The only thing stolen was those workers you made work in sweatshops for Eggie and it failed because you are a scammer to people. Including these comments which we are freely are allowed to make as they are facts! She deletes facts here and pays others to hide her scams.
These recommendations came at a perfect time! I started reading Storyworthy and have been loving it so far. I was wondering if you have a video or anything that goes over how you take notes for the books you read. I find that I struggle to retain the information that I read sometimes. Thanks always for the great book recommendations Jenn!
I love love love these videos from you. Your book recs are like nothing I get from other content creators I follow and I really appreciate your explanation of each
happy new year jenn!! pls do another what i eat in a week video 😭😍 you do the best ones and i love how realistic it is that you eat your leftovers tooooo
reminding me to go back to my old habit i.e to keep reading & researching the purpose of life. You have inspired me a lot started from 2020. You even inspired me to start up my own TH-cam channel and I would like to share my law knowledge to my audiences thereafter.
hi jenn! my biggest book recommendation is einstein's dreams by alan lightman; i tend to not even describe it so there's no expectations but it's about a world of ways time could be different and it reminded me of how our lives are precious. it's a short and sweet read, i hope you see this!
completely agree, i do love this book as well. it’s a fictional collage of Einstein’s diary, basically, and it tackles different versions of time . i love it because it makes you reevaluate how you spend your time. i know i’m not selling it really well but I guess everyone could get something out of reading it❤
Normally a silent viewer - but I love some good book recommendations. A MUST read is All About Love by Bell Hooks - a phenomenal book about what love really is (outside of just a feeling - focusing on the action and communication piece plus analyzing it through an intersectionality lense). I would highly recommend since you are a parent and it goes into what love is - and how love cannot exist with abuse & how that impacts children & adults. Another recommendation - The Power of Habit might be a fascinating read for you - I really enjoyed it. This book broke down the psychology of why we do things in our daily lives. A classic example they gave was how brushing our teeth became a habit. It also tied in the marketing piece of it - for example Febreeze. I also just got Atomic Habits which I’m excited to read. You might want to check them out!
Thank you Jen for sharing with us your book recommendations and even insights! It is inspiring me to go back to reading more! Thank you so much! These books are definitely on my list to read next!
I enjoy watching this video and actually I was writing down my reflection toward my own daily life routine when watching it! The topics of these books happened to be the ones I cares about as well! So much resonated with this video!
This is perfect! I was looking for some good reads for the new year. My goal for this year is to read ( and finish😅 ) 10 books. This is an awesome start. Thanks Jenn❤
I can only try, but would you please mind sharing the source for your art lighting? I do interiors and from this distance; I don't think I've ever seen those before. In any case the room is beautifully understated.
A book I’ve been loving is Factfulness by Hans Rosling. In today’s world, it’s so easy to feel overwhelmed about the state of the world and feel like everything is falling apart. I know I’m always worried about climate change, global warming, poverty and homelessness. This book helps you change that perspective by using real life statistics on how the world is actually doing because the media will only broadcast about stories that catch your attention. Rarely will they report the good things in the world. It also equips you with strategies to help filter out the dramatic news. It’s really helped me realize that we’re more okay than we think and my future kids won’t suffer too much.
i am interested to read the "storyworthy" one! the idea is so inspiring! Not only just record the day (writing journal to me is kind of tiring and i easily give up on some days) but also see it as a challenge to make it into a "storytellingable" short paragraphs to improve my storytelling ability (which mine is quite bad ha..) thanks Jenn
Agree that our attention is often influenced and controlled by the algorithm of social media and the Internet. But fortunately, the algorithm has got me here to watch Jenn's video! :D Thank you so much for introducing these books to us. It is life-changing
Great video! Thanks for sharing, Jenn 😊 I love your book videos - you've recommended "Atomic Habit" a while ago and it was amazing - a real game changer! Looking forward to reading through your new recommendations!
Jenn u r so smart. I look up to u so much NO Matter how much TH-camr I watch I end up coming to ur channel. it gives me a sense of originality, quality and most important each word that comes out of you are so meaningfull and a contains wisdom, I am 22 year old And I wish I have ur wisdom. you are so relatable like words coming from u hits home but we r very different like different sides of same coins ofcorse u r so much better and I'm so bad at explaining I'm so sorry but its like we both have same issues which is relatable and we both want same thing but ur approach is better u have more wisdom , I wish to be like u in 5 years at least half of u attest . I mean all the things I said above. and I have been watching u from 3 years I think or 4 time pass by so fast crazy .
All of these sound so interesting and I added a few to my TBR list. This video was so fun too!! I liked the graphics and analogies a lot as a little fun way of giving life to the books you’re describing
Jenn have you read the Happiness Hypothesis? I think you’d enjoy it. But also I loved this video. Long form content is such a respite from being blasted with short form content on every platform
I am so so so excited to start these books! Thank you for the recommendations!!! ☺️ I've been craving some intellectual stimulation since being out of school, and this is making me excited to learn 🧠
Jenn, you ROCK for being so intelligent and sharing your thoughts and perspectives and gleaned knowledge from these books so brilliantly is so beautiful. :)
One of my New Year's resolutions is to read more instead of mindlessly scrolling on my phone. And what better way to start than with some book recommendations to make me smarter! 📚
Hi Jenn. Long time subscriber from South Korea but i never really left comment before. Sorry for not being an active commenter 😅 you are the only creator whom i watch almost everyday before going to sleep , I started to watch your videos to learn English and listen to a native speaker but now i love them for being so inspiring and informative. ❤ Such a shame that I cannot find most of books in Korean online bookstore 😢
Storyworthy sounds the most appealing to me and I would love to pick up that homework for life aspect! Especially to start at the beginning of this new year : )
Hey Jenn I’m inspired by you as always, I’m never a fan of reading but would like to start. I do prefer reading from physical books but physical books take up so much space, what do you do with old books ?
love the bag of chips analogy I am going to have to use that! The concept of amusing ourselves to death is actually brilliant, amazing suggestions here that I will be adding to my 2023 reading list, thank you Jenn ❤❤❤
I can listen to Jenn all day!! She needs a podcast🥺
How can we make this happen?? 🥺
I would love that yes!

These recommendations came at a perfect time! I started reading Storyworthy and have been loving it so far. I was wondering if you have a video or anything that goes over how you take notes for the books you read. I find that I struggle to retain the information that I read sometimes. Thanks always for the great book recommendations Jenn!
please tell us what's on your eyelids. Love that natural glow ❤
I always watch your videos when I feel overwhelmed with social media and you always bring me back to reality.
I just love how Jenn articulates and describes things. It's so nuanced and perfectly explained.
I love love love these videos from you. Your book recs are like nothing I get from other content creators I follow and I really appreciate your explanation of each
You always make my week! Wonderful to watch your videos as I clean. As someone with ADHD, you help me stay on track.
Really love that you introduce books not every other TH-camr has been talking about
I love when you wear those Eggie classics 💕 I have the same sweater from your collection you're wearing in this video all these years later!
"engineering myself in a way that's anti-fragile" -- jenn u are my monthly dose of bubbly inspiration
happy new year jenn!! pls do another what i eat in a week video 😭😍 you do the best ones and i love how realistic it is that you eat your leftovers tooooo
Love love love all your books and podcast recc’s. You never miss. And the hair!
I second the other comments on a Jenn Podcast ❤
Great content! Much needed these book recommendations! Also, love your look in this video.
i love how you explained all of these books, just goes to show how you digest all the information you got from them 💘
I love that this came up at the start of a new year - exactly what I needed!!
reminding me to go back to my old habit i.e to keep reading & researching the purpose of life.
I have a long flight ahead of me (from SEOUL to Auckland) - so I am soooo happy for the video and have some new books to read😍😍 thank you!!
I love how you bring things that i learned in my Communications major to life!
I am going to school for Environmental Science and Sustainability! Learning about how we get energy is INSANE
Thanks for all these recommendations Jenn !! also this hairstyle suits you so muchhhh
Always such inspiring videos, and still so down to earth. Thank you so much Jenn
Loving your new hairstyle!
Loved this, added several of your recs to my list!
Great video! Thanks for sharing, Jenn 😊 I love your book videos - you've recommended "Atomic Habit" a while ago and it was amazing - a real game changer! Looking forward to reading through your new recommendations!
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective and your learnings from these books:) Makes me super excited to read again!
I just discovered your videos, and I have a lot now to explore and think about. Thank you.

I mean all the things I said above. and I have been watching u from 3 years I think or 4 time pass by so fast crazy .
All of these sound so interesting and I added a few to my TBR list. This video was so fun too!! I liked the graphics and analogies a lot as a little fun way of giving life to the books you’re describing
this video about books resonate with me.
I always trust your tastes in book, Jenn! thanks so much for sharing these as I want to read more this year 😊
Using chips as an analogy for reels, that's a great way to put it
This is so good for me to study English. Thank you so much for the videos that you had uploaded on TH-cam channel. From south korea~

I love this! 2 of those books I know my husband has read, and 1 he's reading right now. I definitely need to check these out as well. Thanks for this!
Oh wow! Your husband has got great taste! Heheh! Ty for watching! x
One of my New Year's resolutions is to read more instead of mindlessly scrolling on my phone. And what better way to start than with some book recommendations to make me smarter! 📚
Perfect video for the beginning of year! I want to read more this year!
jenn you are soooo inspiring thanks so much for this video 🥰 love u always!
Wow I want to read EVERY book you recommended. They seem right up my alley!
Purchased this month's read! Can't wait to be a part of the discussion!
Storyworthy sounds the most appealing to me and I would love to pick up that homework for life aspect! Especially to start at the beginning of this new year : )
Jenn thank u for sharing!! Loved this video❤
I will definitively pick up them. Thank you so much ❤.
My goal for this year is to read and report on each of these books. They all seem like fascinating topics!
OMG I LOVE YOUR HAIR
Jenn thank you for all the recommendations!! As a book lover I love getting new recommendations, also where is your sweater from? It is so cute!
