Developpers said about coming big updates => New stuff can only be add if you don't discover the area ( only unknow news areas will have the update working ). It mean that don't discover mistland or ashland or northland if possible....
I heard somewhere when the Hearth and Home update comes out that all its new content will only be accessible by starting a new world file, and your old world won't take the new updates. I could be wrong, of course. I've been slowing down on building though and just living in a campsite, stockpiling supplies for it!
Meanwhile, the real update: "Yo guys, we reworked food which nobody needed, and we added two different coin pile items for decoration. Enjoy how it RADICALLY alters your gameplay for the next half year."

I think food was the least of the problems, and the two types of coin piles, while nice (heck I beat Moder so far, exploring about 9 continents and I still haven't found trader on my seed lol - so having something to make use of currency items is kinda nice), it's not really groundbreaking and I seriously doubt it's gonna add replayability to the game. I wish they added some different build pieces so we could experiment with them for the next couple of months. Like 70 degree pieces (tho you can kind of do this... very painfully slowly, with ValheimPlus mod), shingle roofings. Different type of wood that is lighter or darker in color (which would basically double the amount of build pieces with just a bit of copy&paste and additional texture). Not saying I expect functional pieces like the hydraulic/circuit stuff in Minecraft this year, but adding some minor build pieces for options would be really great. So far what they revealed doesn't really make me hyped.
Jealous of your wolf's. I managed to tame and get a 2* home, but I spent hours trying to tame and get a partner for it home. They don't survive the journey.

Devs have already confirmed it. New seed required, mainly because it’s also adding new areas, which would cause issues in already populated seeds.
