Go out and see new places. The best part is meeting people along the way. There is less anxiety because you are only presenting the "you" today without any of the baggage that brought you to today and with no concern for having to live up to expectations tomorrow. Go enjoy today.
I traveled solo to Krakow, Poland in 2019 and it was the best experience ever! Krakow is very safe, clean, affordable, has great public transportation, and has a lot of great things to see and do. My experience was that most people under 40 speak at least some English, so not knowing Polish was not a big deal. I'd be going back this summer if it weren't for Covid.
Cool I have been to Thailand 4 times, Philippines and Indonesia twice each, Japan once and also SW USA. I am planning to go to Indonesia again this year hopefully if things are better

This is a great list. You've got some of my favourite destinations in there (Iceland, New Zealand, Thailand) and places I haven't been to that I need to check out now! I think I would include Vietnam in my top 10 - interesting culture, affordable, relatively safe and delicious food, but there are so many amazing places to choose from - it must not have been easy getting it down to 10!

Funny that your number 1 pick was Thailand as I am a solo traveller and went to Phuket island of Thailand if you have not been it a must go place so clean and friendly also cheap. I was a bit worried going that far on my own and now want to go again as its such a great place if you go on the tourist trips to the Phi Phi smaller islands and then a bit of party in patong.
Have watched your video on your Philippine travels: how it first didn't impress you, how you then realized it was a good place - especially due to the people - and then how you were robbed. And, still, you placed it at Top Three, for which I - a Filipino - am truly thankful. I, also, have been to Chiang Mai once - during the Loy Krathong Season - and it's a very nice and cool place. Having once lived in Bangkok for seven years, I have to say, yes, the temples are exotic and the food is to - die - for. But if ever you try doing the Philippines, again, do try Luzon Island. See the Banaue Rice Terraces, Baguio, and Tagaytay, where - especially in Baguio - temperatures can go as low as 10 degrees Celsius. Also, see BATANES - the new last frontier of the country, after multi - award - winning island Palawan, also in the Philippines. Batanes is almost a world of its own; it is breathtakingly awesome.

So far I have 68 countries visited solo, so which would I go back to ? Only 2 Iceland and Costa Rica. totally different but both are fascinating. In Costa Rica I was photographing exotic butterflies. Iceland just because it's so different but English is widely understood.

I had a mildly negative solo travel experience in Bangkok, Thailand. I got into some kind of taxi asking to go to Wat Pho, a well-known site. The driver told me that it was closed that day and took me against my will to a bogus tourist trap site to get me to spend money on garbage. I saw that there was a busier street so I ran and got into another taxi, which took me where I wanted to go.

I'm planning on a few years (round the world, starting in South America) of staying in private rooms in hostels on the weekends. From my research it seems pretty easy to tell the party hostels from the more chill ones suitable for an older crowd?

I really wouldn't recommend any where in Indonesia EXCEPT Bali. The other parts are predominantly Muslim and not solo female friendly. Please take my word on this.
Just because they're Muslim doesn't make them unfriendly to solo female travelers. I've traveled solo to Sumatra, Flores (both actually have big Christian populations, not that religion matters to me), Lombok, Java, Raja Ampat, and Sumbawa and don't feel Bali had fewer scams or was necessarily easier simply because of their religion. Sorry if you had a bad experience, but it's dangerous to mass label people because of their religion.

@@daireb123 In South America you meet people of all ages in hostels so I wouldn't worry about that. In Europe or SEA you might feel old.
